Miralax vs. Milk of magnesia or others? Help.
Gaelsmom posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It has been 8 days. Stomach hurts. I have been walking, taking fluids, and Probiotics everyday. I have a 7 hour drive tomorrow. If I take miralax tonight will it be an issue tomorrow? Any other immediate relief recommendations? Thanks and have a great weekend! -
Miralax vs. Milk of magnesia or others? Help.
Gaelsmom replied to Gaelsmom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So I took the milk of magnesia. But I couldn't drink water as it said to do without heavy nausea. I fell asleep, woke up at 430am and still felt nauseous. Took my meds with water and it cleared out. Not much of anything. But better than nothing. Thanks all for the advice. -

Things you wish you knew....
Gaelsmom replied to treblecutie23's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
All of this makes me laugh now...not so much three weeks ago. Gas was absolutely the worst especially since it took a week for me to feel better. The shot in the stomach was painful to prevent blood clots. Ask for them to give it to you in the back of the arm which I did post op. Don't trust a fart...so right. Especially if you are not home and can't get clean. The antibiotics act like liquid plumber. I can only add two things... It was easy to go cold turkey with caffeine post op since you are in and out of sleep, and have other pains. I wish I had not been scared to take nexium post op and delayed it for a week. Stomach issues resolved within two days of taking it. -

Good luck with that. Totally new woman. -
Congrats!!! It won't really be real until you try your first drink post op. As said in the earlier posts, the first week or two is rough and there's a lot of transition mentally, and physically. Don't let that dissuade you. Focus on how life changing this is going to be and the improvements that you will experience.

I really loved ricotta with seasoning, egg with mayo, broiled tilapia, canned chicken with mayo. 1 scrambled egg with Italian herb seasoning and 1tsp of ricotta. I miss my soups but this is better protein. I could only get about four spoons in. Recently I've gone up to 5. I am not a fan of yogurt or Greek yogurt, but I tried.

You look great. Are you still doing crossfit? -
TammyDTM. I think you are right. I know it will get better but here's to hoping no running after child in danger for at least two more months.

So prior to surgery, I was jogging/walking 5 miles. I just didn't think it would be painful to run four steps. But I will hang in there. Thank you all for the feedback!

Has anyone used Vitamin Patches?
Gaelsmom replied to slsgeek's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I use the patches but am only 3 weeks post op. I won't know if it's working until I get labs done. I like using them though. -
In the first few days of my new life...
Gaelsmom replied to hcwild's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So yesterday was the first time I ate soft mushy foods. It coincided with a birthday celebration and I was at a restaurant. I got grilled tilapia. It was hard watching everyone eat, have drinks and once my food came out, I could only eat four bites. I had to get up and walk for a few minutes. And while I know what I signed up for and why, it still wasn't easy to nit feel down about not being able to enjoy a meal per se or a drink with my food. Anyone else experience this? -
I'm two weeks post-op. I had egg drop Soup for the first time. All other Soups I can drink 3/4 cup to a cup. But last night, I actually put away two cups of egg drop soup with no pain. This morning, my ankles are swollen, my hands are stiff and I feel off. Is it normal to put away so much soup and is the sodium most likely causing this morning's aches and swelling?

@@theatrejo you are brave for going back in such a short time. As others have said, focus on liquids and stay hydrated. Protein will fall into place soon. -

I can't have cottage cheese yet. The soup situation is still a discovery to me. I started at 1/2 cup but can put in 1 cup. However I tend to suffer if I do that for a few minutes. I can drink nearly a cup of premier Protein. -
I am two weeks post op and I still can't drink plain water which I love. So I make decaf iced tea at home with berry flavor mint and then add it to my water. I get so much more fluids that way.

In the first few days of my new life...
Gaelsmom replied to hcwild's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it's been so hard for me I was almost in tears we've had so many events within this 12 days lol. I couldn't help but be sad. It was to hard my husband felt so bad but he pep talked me (buyers remorse set in) no regrets, he said sternly .. Lachellove You got this. We are all going through this adventure together. Think back to why you did this. I gained .2lbs this morning. Been going through that in and off. My body is hanging on and all I want to do is naturally sleep and wait for sunny days. Dragged my butt to work today and it was hard. Smelling all the street vendors and people's lunches in the office. Wanting to take down anyone with coffee and something sweet. Hoping once soft foods start Friday, that I will have more energy. Aside from my family and fitting clothes again, here's my motivation: running a 5k in November. My first. What do you guys want to do? -
@portuguesegal10- wishing you a speedy recovery!!

Congrats on making it through that BBQ!!! Do you add anything to the cottage cheese? I just had a Manhattan clam chowder puréed. I had been looking forward to it, but I did not like it. Cream of chicken and cream of tomato is the only thing I seem to enjoy. I need to calculate how many more days I have till scrambled eggs. I'm so looking forward to the mushy food stage. -
How long are Pre-Packaged Protein Shakes good refrigerated?
Gaelsmom replied to Less Cushion More Pushin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Choosehope- yes. I started using them before surgery and realized I most likely would not be able to finish them post surgery. Isopure was great and responded quickly. -

I know that Isopure responded to my email and said 24 hours. But if I don't finish by the end of the day, I just get rid of it.
