I understand Medicare will now pay for fills. Does anyone happen to have that code? I'm not at that point yet but will in about a month. My surgery is 12/31 and my one month followup may be my first fill. Thanks, Genea :help:

gmmc It sounds like you could be a candidate to me. You did not say what your BMI is. Medicare has guidelines for the BMI with or without other illnesses. Your Primary care doctor has to say they feel you would benefit from the procedure and show a history. I would talk to the Lap band surgeons office. They deal with this every day and can tell you what needs to be done and when. Also they will tell you what needs to be in the PC letter.

I have Medicare approval, and yes it take a few thing to get it. I had to go to a presentation by the doctors office about the lap band. My primary care doctor had to write a letter of necessity. They also listed my problems and treatments for them. I was lucky because I had a documented weight loss program and a history at a gym. With this information my Lap Band Surgeon went to Medicare and they gave their approval. My surgeon required me to go to my cardiologist and get approval due to my high blood pressure. Your best bet would be to call a Lap Band Surgeons office and see if they have a support group or meeting for new patients. The people in the offices can take you through the process quickly and a lot better and I can. My process went quickly be cause I had all of the documentation. My surgery date is 12/31 so I am counting down. :clap2: Genea

Well it looks like I will close the month of December. I'm getting my band on December the 31st.. I had my Pre Op on 12/27 and did all of the pre registration at the hospital. Now the nerves have really started. I'm not good at waiting, would like to get it done and move on. It's nice to find a great group to be associated with. Genea :ranger:

Piddles Dr. Wright from SATX will be doing my surgery at the NIX on the 31st of Dec. I really like him, all question or concerns were answered quickly. The only problem I had was it seems the first fax sent to the office had to go into a black hole. All fax's I sent or had sent had to be sent twice. All of the staff is great. Genea.

What Age were you when Banded or if you're considering Banding?

I'm 67 and will start 2008 with a new leash on life. I'm getting my band on Dec. 31st. I wish this would of be around 40 years ago. But then I would of been to pig headed to try, so now I can finally control a life long problem. My Problem is too much food, if a little is good more is better. Gene -
My Lap Band will be done by Doctor Wright at the Nix Hosp. on December the 31st. He really is very good, if there is any questions he will not do the surgery until he has the answer. Gene

I just got my date, I will get my band on 12/31. Dr. Wright from South Texas Surgeons will do my surgery at NIX. I really like Doctor Weight, he will not go ahead if there are any questions about you. I'm a senior on Medicare and had to go through and number of hoops to get to this point. But I guess I would not had it any other way. Gene

I finally got my date. I have Pre Op on 12/27 and I get my band on 12/31. Dr. Wright will be doing the surgery at NIX Hosp. in San Antonio Tx. I will start 08 with the means to finally control my weight. I've been fighting my weight for more than one half a century. At age 14 I was 214 Lb and it has been a YO YO all of my life. Two years ago LOML got a gym membership, I stepped on the scales and it read 299.5 Lb., My waist was a snug 48 and I hurt all over. I went on a GI diet and started losing weight but after 50 Lb. it slowed and we knew something else had to be done. That is when LOML pointed out an ad about the Lap Band. After hearing Dr. Wright and talking with him I knew this could be the tool I needed to finally take control. Medicare is paying for the operation so there is a mandated overnight stay in the Hospital. Also they say the operation has to done in a Center of Excellence. So I guess I'm on my way and it looks like I'm good company from all the posts I've read. Gene
