unflavored Protein
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to RZD_1123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi... I too cannot stand the Protein powder as Protein shakes. If I need a Protein shake - I stick to the premixed ones like Pure Protein or Premier Protein. Now that I am 6 months out, I am finding fun in cooking again. So I use unflavored protein in many of my baked goods - like pancakes and muffins (and they are carb free too). For cooking, I find the unflavored GNC and Quest chocolate and Vanilla bake really good. I found that unflavored Syntrax nectar is VERY BAD!!!! It changes the composition of everything and my poor pumpkin pancakes were a complete fail. One more note - I recently found this mix. Can you saw awesome!!!! Eating meals with other people
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to byebyedarkpassenger's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
go with a plan.... With one group of friends (who know I had the surgery), they order and I just snack off their plates.... With husband, we share an entree and he gets salad/ app in addition With others who do not know, I have strategies I use. Here are three of them. 1) order appetizer (always check the menu before going to make sure there is something I eat). 2) order salad and only eat meat and veggies (then I leave the lettuce and usually complain I did not like the lettuce - and no one is the wiser). 3) order from the "small plates" section if available Hope this helps!! -

What's normal for 7.5 weeks out
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to lachellove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is it hard to drink or is it just hard to drink the amount they want? I will say this - At 2 months, I was very tired of Water so i had a hard time drinking it. As long as I flavored it, it seems to go down better. I use the following to make water more interesting: 1-2 sliced of cucumber crystal light miyo meyo... or sugarless water flavor decaf tea - and then make it iced. My favorite is a blackberry from Target (in the KCups) -
Never Hungry!
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to sbagby1960's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Isn't it a strange feeling? Never thought I would "not be hungry" I just started to get hungry again - at 6 months out. For the first 6 months I ate on a schedule otherwise I would not eat at all. One thing to note - if I thought I was hungry before I really was not - that was my "head" telling me it's noon and I should eat. So start to learn how your body is now with the pouch. Head hunger is different than pouch hunger. This took be about a month or two to learn the difference. -
Happy October - Happy Breast Cancer awareness month
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So we all see the signs about Boobie month - Happy Breast Cancer Awareness month. I know we all talk about how they ("our girls") are shrinking with weight loss.... I just had to share my Friday morning moment. Got to the office, went to kitchen to cut my apple and get my yogurt. As I am walking, I look down at my feet. And what do I notice, my stomach is not the first thing ... nope, it's my boobs. It really made me laugh - my boobs are now bigger than my stomach. YEAH!!! -
7 weeks post op and still doing 2 shakes per day
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to shellyd67's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am at 7 months and I still have one per day (and the one I have is 35 g per shake). My food still only gets me to about 50-55 g Protein. -

At 6 months out - how much can you/should you eat?
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to Marisa1972's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
hi... what a great guide. Nice - you included all of my points. I would like to give my opinion - I too am 6 months out and my doctor / NUT has given me different calories and food limits. Since I am still trying to lose right now, I still eat between 600-800 calories per day with the goal of 80 G Protein. I really want to point you back to your surgery team for their recommendation. They know how big your pouch is and how best to maintain it. -

many doctors really do not know the struggles of overweight people. Here is an article that really helped me talking with other doctors. http://www.thelancet.com/journals/landia/article/PIIS2213-8587%2815%2900009-1/abstract another piece of advice - get a new PCP. you really need a supportive one for the next year. Stomach volume 6months post op
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to Sabl3r's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi - I am also at 6 months and I still stick with 2 oz of Protein and 1 oz of veggies so still at 3 oz of food for each meal. I am still losing - have 50 pounds till goal. I will say - I can eat 5 oz of yogurt (one container) since its goes down easier. Definitely watch the slider foods - but dense protein for me is still 2-3 oz total. -
Hi had surgery on 29th....
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to mouse1972rb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The taste in your mouth - yes that is normal. It might be from the fluids or from the Protein shakes if you are drinking them already. I found sugar free mints somewhat helped - but I could only have them in my mouth for a few minutes - then they made me nauseous at the beginning. The bloating will lessen as your body absorbs the gas and fluids. Keep moving - it will help. And no need to move fast - just move... -
