shoulder pain anyone else experience
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to on the fence 2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@on the fence 2 - that is all very normal. The pain in the shoulder could be from gas, it could be from a repaired hernia. Or it could be referred pain from the nerves around the stomach. They are all possibilities. I had it until about six months. Now here's the fun part. After I eat too big of bites I get the pain there too and I'm at nine months. So eat slow eat small bites and the pain does go away slowly but surely -
Pilates or yoga
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to mrs w's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there. I did Pilates after my surgery. It is going really well and I just adore it. But I waited about four weeks after surgery before I did any of the heavy stuff like the pilates is one hundreds. I tried a little bit before four weeks and I noticed some pressure in my incision so that's why I waited about 4 weeks. -

Watching others eat. Revulsion.
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to Emilie.Lancaster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I remember my first visit to a restaurant. I had the same recollection in the same overwhelming feeling of judging to everyone around me. It actually has gotten so much better lately. I think the hormones make us extra sensitive to everything and because we can't eat we miss it. It will go away and you don't notice it as much later. Another piece of advice. When I went out my overwhelming feelings made me very sad. And my poor husband sat there and i did not tell him. Make sure your support system know. This way you can talk it out and let your feelings out rather than hold the man and get extra sad or emotional. -

Hooray! A surgery date! Not hooray! Extreme terror!
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to yerawizardamy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
so... here is my words of wisdom. The surgery is really a non-issue - I can say that now that mine in done. I think the hardest part is after the surgery. Couple of things - tell your surgeon. Get some anti-anxiety meds, they will help you get through this. Also, look into meditation or yoga breathing. That helped me too. Good luck. You will both do great!!! -
If you could do one thing different after surgery, what would it be
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to Scottyd1264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am pleased with my approach. I waited the 6 months and mentally got myself ready for the surgery and the aftermath. I personally think everyone need to prepare mentally, physically and socially for this surgery. I felt great about my physical and social states, mental is another story. Today (post 8 months) I am really looking at my eating habits since I am finding myself doing some of my old habits... like grazing when I am not really hungry. I wish I spent more time with a coach/ therapist trying to identify any issues like binge eating before the surgery. I know I am a binge eater and if I knew this before surgery, I could have had strategies on how to deal. I am getting there now but wish I knew before surgery I have this compulsive behaviour.
