Food advice
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to kdelrosso's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
so I totally get the warm at breakfast time. I would say - stop with the "have to eat breakfast food" at breakfast. Here are some ideas.... Baked oatmeal - does not really taste like oatmeal if you make it thin.....This is my favorite one from Niki. http://www.bariatricfoodie.com/niks-fall-harvest-protein-baked-oatmea/ Breakfast stew - I have one with meatballs, canelli Beans and canned tomatoes. Very yummy and warm How about toast ? (try David's Killer bread - this is the only bread my sleeve can tolorate) and Protein Peanut Butter (PB2, Protein powder and just a little Water to make it smooth). Protein Cookies - Andrea's Protein Cakery has a ton of protein cookie ideas, these might work for breakfast too.... serve warm with maybe some syrup. Protein Waffles - there are a tons of premade protein powers that work great as pancakes or waffles. Mancakes, P28 are my favorite. Or I make my own with Quest protein and baking powder. Check Quest protein blog for recipes. Remember - warm your sugar free syrup. Hope this gets you thinking..... -
Has anyone lost 100+ pounds?
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to provenzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am currently at a loss of 135. 20 in the 3 months before surgery and 115 since surgery (Friday is my 10 month anniversary from Surgery). I am still losing about 1 -1.5 pounds per week. I eat 900 calories a day, 80-90 grams of Protein, 96 oz of Water and exercise at least 60 minutes a day. Some days it's just walking, some bike some heavy gym cardio. you can do it... I have 35 more to go to goal!!! -
Baths & Jacuzzis
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to IrishGermanRN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Bath is once all the wounds have healed. Jacuzzi I wanted a while - maybe 3 months since the chemicals aer strong and might still get into the wounds. Just to be safe... -
hi!!! Welcome to our world. There is not easy way to solve this puzzle. I say start with one issue and find a resolution then move to another one. So starts with wound care, then Water, then food. Then exercise. We have all been where you are so we know how to help. Ask away.....

Losing my hair
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to mrslopez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry - I had the same problem and I took Biotin. Starts at about 3 months and continues till about 7-8 months. Recommendation.....get 80-90 grams of Protein, this is really the only thing that slowed it down for me. Now at 10 month I have lots of little hairs growing back. -

Why is it so hard to down water?!
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to cal2okl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mom is a little bit different. I can drink fast if water has a flavor to it. Like there's a lime in it or a lemon in it. But as long as it's plain water just plain water :cold, warm, whatever, that's sucker will not go down. -

Asthma/Prednisone
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to storibrown's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@storibrown- before surgery I had really bad asthma. Every winter I would have a flair that would cause me to go on prednisones. Fact many of them brought trips to the ER to. Now that surgeries over my lung capacity went from 50% to 80%. With steroids I get to almost hundred percent capacity. So I still have to take my meds but it's so much better than it was. -

Unjury unflavored protein powder
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to Trooper Wifey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
its a hard one. Check out Nik's article - she is right about how to mix it up so not to have lumps. http://www.bariatricfoodie.com/bf-basics-how-to-make-hot-protein-drink/ Also - for Protein in my Soups, I really mix it following Niks article - take a small amount of broth to build the paste and then mix it. With the rest of the soup. also - do not be afraid to use the shakers. The pure pressure from the shaking does wonders with the clumps. These shakers are at GNC for cheap. -
