I have a journal with pictures of my bucket exercise/ activity list. For instance - stuff I want to do but have not because I was overweight. I crossed the first one off last weekend - run a 5 k (i still cannot believe I did it without stopping) - took 40 min but I did it... Other items - climb Halfdome Yosemite, surf (wet suit scared me), walking across Golden Gate bridge (yep - live near SF). Jenn -

Hi!!! I am doing pilates (I know there are some similarities with yoga). My doctor asked me to wait 2 weeks after surgery before starting up again (I started before surgery). As for pilates - it is amazing for me. I feel like my skin is not as loose around my core as other parts of my body. Plus is helping me when I am at the gym - I feel stronger. My best friend is a yoga instructor. She has taught me some core movement to help warm up and cool down at the gym. I really feel like yoga and pilates will help us as we learn a new center of gravity. I also think the breathing has help me too... I mean a lot. Feel free to message me if you want any more advice.

Throat after eating
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to Bndtoslv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes - my breathing tube from surgery scratched my throat so I had a sore throat for maybe 2 weeks. Thankfully there was no cough - just soreness. Got better each day and warm liquids (like broth) helped. -

Help! Soft food stage, what can I eat?!
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to CoCoKate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hard boiled egg - I chopped it up into small small pieces.... 1 will fill me up. I also scrambled them with milk. But again - small bites and chew!!! Cottage cheese - 1 oz at a time and see if you could handle a second ounce (i could not for a week) Very very soft melon (like mushy) - like 1/4 cup at a time (and chew it....) I also feel in love with pudding - took my Protein shake (I used pure protein) and added in sugar free pudding powder. Thick and yummy. 1/4 cup at a time... When you are a couple days in - tuna (I used the stuff in a pouch already drained). Maybe 1-2 T in size. I also love white fish - like cod or talapia. Again, small bites, maybe I was eating 1 oz at a time. Hope this help!!! Good luck - and go slow.... Not in a hurry. Let each bite finish before trying another bite. This is where I had the most discomfort - bites too big, not chewing enough, not enough time between. -
Question about eating out
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to kmd0235's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I went out on liquid, I actually go them to give me a latte (Decaf if recommended by your DR). Since it took me a while to drink, I enjoyed this during my first meal out. Plus - its give you your protien. Jenn -
All normal - and yes, happened to me too. Here is what I recommend - do not weigh every day (it will make you crazy). I weigh myself Tuesdays and Friday. Someone explained to me like this... each weight is an adjustment to our bodies. Our bodies wants to stay at the same weight. They think of it as normal. So when we lose weight, our body needs to do an internal reset on what is a normal weight. So think of this as your internal weight begin reset. Give it time and it will drop again. My longest stall so far (surgery was Mar 30) was 18 days. After my 18 days stall, I lost 6 pounds in 3 days. Go figure.....

Thoughts? is it worth it or can the eyeball/ image cheat methods work well enough? http://www.healthyeating.org/Healthy-Eating/Healthy-Living/Weight-Management/Article-Viewer/Article/348/correct-portion-sizes-how-to-keep-portion-distortion-in-check.aspx I use this cheat sheet. -
How many calories are you eating?
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to cuchas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am at 3 months - and I am still 600-650 calories with a target of 60-80 g of Protein. I personally think the focus is on protein more than calories. Really get your protein in.... You are doing good with 500 calories - but remember the protein. For me - at three weeks I started my plan. I eat three meals - usually about 150 calories per meal and I still have one Protein shake (about 150-170). -
I can't believe he said that!

What a boob.... Here, give him this article to read - I especially liek the part where Doctors are giving BAD advice. http://www.thelancet.com/journals/landia/article/PIIS2213-8587%2815%2900009-1/abstract And secondly... get a new GI doc. I have a GREAT one. -
Insomnia anyone?
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to jaxmom1974's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I found when I am waking up late at night - its gas *burping" or acid reflux. Watch how late you are eating. Once I stopped eating by 6:30 pm (and only drank later), I got back to normal sleeping. -
Vacation
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to holliwood1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here are some other ideas... Turkey Jerky - beef jerky. There are to single serving go packs now (check grocery store). String cheese singles - can be out of the fridge for hours Quest Bars - love the lemon one Bring Protein powder and a mixer - take this on every trip with me. Quest has single serving packs - and they are not horrible tasting P3 Oscar Mayer packs - Lunchables for adults (nuts, cheese and turkey) Bring tupperware - when you go out to dinner - order like normal but make portions for leftovers (Breakfast and lunch) - hopefully you have a fridge. And remember - vacation is about getting out and doing stuff not eating.... Have a great time. You will love how you can play and do more than before. -
Let's talk about teeth..and stuff
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to galenight's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
yes - I had it too! I blame the protien shakes more than anything else. Good news... it goes away when you get to "real" food. Here is what I did.... mouthwash, brush, floss. But be careful with the tongue scraper - apparently I went too hard and too often and now I am paying for it. So be gentle with the tongue. -
How much have you lost?

Throwing up (sorry for the topic)
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So - I am 3 months post op. So far - I do great with eating. Eating nice and slow and no issues. Today - for the first time, in over a month I ate lunch - a deconstructed burrito - Beans, chicken and salsa. This is really part 2 of my burrito from two days ago. After eating, all came back up. I mean - really came back up. I have not had any stomach regurgitation like that since I got food poisoning like 2 years ago. I am sure it's because I ate too fast or I had to large of a piece of chicken. Here is my question. Do I count any of the food in my food journal or just consider it a wash? I am now 3 hours later and enjoying my Protein shake. Just wondering your thoughts? Jenn
