Wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery.

Saw my Dr today for my pre op visit. Clear liquid diet for only one day before surgery. So ready to get this over with and get to the recovery phase.

I am sorry you have experienced this. As a medical professional myself I can tell you this is not how administration wants their patients to be treated. I highly encourage you to write a nice long heart felt letter to the administrator of this facility. That is going to the top. I feel sure it will be investigated. I have worked with nurses that have been suspended for letter that administration got about them. This person needs to reconsider her choice of career. I pray that I never make a patient feel this way. Don't let this person make you feel inferior. You and only you know what your journey has been. When I encounter a person like this. I make it a point to tell them I will pray for them and for them to have a blessed day. That always gives me the last word and something for them to think about.

New to site: band to sleeve
lexiemia replied to Typhanee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I too am having revision from band to sleeve. May 28 is my date. My band was successful for 10 years. I lost 100 pounds. Last year I had a virus and was vomiting. My band slipped. They had to remove all the saline and I have now gained 87 lbs. I am ill with myself for gaining but I guess after being so restricted for so many years I kind of lost it. Good luck and keep us posted. -
1 night hospital stay?
lexiemia replied to Martene81's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance also covers one night stay. What sort of revision? I am having band converted to sleeve. -
I have had my band since 2004. I don't regret having it by no means but if someone asked me if they should do it I would say go with the sleeve. Sleeve was not offered when I got my band. My band has slipped and I will be having it removed and converted to a sleeve May 28. As far as things stuck. Yes I have had it happen a couple of times. Once was a piece of steak. I mixed meat tenderized in water and dran some. It took about half a day but it finally went through. The otero option I had was to have the saline removed then it would have slid through. The other thing that got stuck was a grape. Can't eat broccoli unless it is cooked to much. It gets stuck as well. No Apple peelings. It's kind of a trial and error deal and is different with everyone. My friend has a band and I can eat things that she can't. Also their are two type band. Lap band and realize band. The lap band only holds 4 cc of fluid and applies more pressure. My brother in law has the realize band and he seems to do much better than me. I wish you much success with which ever you choose.

I noticed Dr. Jawed did your surgery. He did my band back in 2004. Where in Florida are you located? -
Women who have had c sections
lexiemia replied to nic_89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My gastric banding surgery was nothing compared to my c section. With the banding surgery I had a little pain the first couple of days at the port site but it was more of a soreness. The more I walked the better it got. Within a week I was pretty much back on my feet and doing my normal routine. -
For anyone considering lapband.
lexiemia replied to Band07's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my band in 2004. I lost 100 lbs over a period of a year. I did fine for ten years. Around the first part of last year I started to notice that when I got up in the morning I was not able to get liquids to go down very well. It would be like noon before I could drink. I started having gastric reflux real bad at night while I was sleeping. I essentially was sitting straight up to sleep. I saw my surgeon and had an upper GI. My band had slipped. The dr took all the saline out and told me my band had to be removed. My family was in the process of moving across the state so I did not have surgery then. I have since moved, found another surgeon, and it took 4 months to get insurance approval. My band removal and conversion to sleeve is May 28th. I have to admit I am a little nervous about this surgery because it is not reversible like the band. -
Please share your story with me from band to sleeve I'm in my pre op and very anxious

I too have had the same problem with my band. I have gained 87 lbs since they took the saline out last May. My surgery to convert to a sleeve is May 28. It can't get here soon enough. I am ready to wear my size 6 clothes again. My garage is filled with boxed up clothes. -

lexiemia replied to Nurse going to Mexico's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my band in 2004. I too am a nurse and a lot of the people I worked with were not supportive. You have to do what is right for you. I have never regretted having my surgery. The first ten years were great. My band slipped last year and now has to be removed and converted to a sleeve. I still am not sorry I had it done. I have my conversion on May 28th. I have only told my friends that have a band. I don't want to repeat the negative opinions this go around. We have to do what we feel is best for us. Don't let people make you second guess your decision. I was 244 lbs and lost to 137 lbs. there is no feeling in this world that can compare to that. Good luck. -
Try calling your surgeons office. They may be able to give advice over the phone. I had a band in 2004. Applesauce and thin oatmeal seemed to sit well when nothing else did. I am sorry for your loss and I pray things get easier soon.

Do you have any gas x strips for the gas. Walking a lot helps the gas to move as well.

I get my lap band removed and converted to a sleeve on May 28 th. I can't wait for the day to come and get to the recovery stage. I am a little scared that there may be issues with the band since I have had it since 2004. I have all the faith in the world in my surgeon so I keep telling myself everything will be just fine.

I too live in Florida. Port Saint Lucie. What part of Florida are you from? My surgery date is May 28th. I wish you the best of luck with the surgery. Keep us posted on your progress.

My surgery date is May 28 th. Starting to get a little anxious now. Had pre op lab work done today. I will be seeing my surgeon on the 19 th and a class at his office then go to the hospital to see the anesthesia department. I am in the process now of trying different protein shakes to see what's tolerable. Which ones have you all found that you like?
