    Tomorrow is the day! Eeeekkkk

I went from band to sleeve two weeks ago. Everything went fine. No problems at all. I felt the same way. I was worried because I had my band for 11 years. But it all worked out just fine. Just be sure to get up and walk as soon as possible. I wish you the best of luck and a quick and easy recovery.

    Anyone else aggravated?

I have had the same thoughts about people being 3 weeks post op and whining about when they can have wine again. I think these are people who were not really ready to commit to this surgery and this FOREVER change in eating habits. We all know wine is nothing but sugar so why would they think it would be allowed in this diet. Especially early on. I just grin and shake my head and think we won't be seeing any before and after pics of them any time soon. Some of us just appreciate this gift more than others. But you rock girl!! So keep Up the good work.

    Sip walk bored now itchy

I know the feeling. I am 11 days out now and the incisions are starting to itch. I saw my surgeon today. He says I need to take in more fluid. I already knew that. I also need to up my protein. I am thinking about trying Genepro unflavored powder. I am hoping if I get enough protein it will help with the weight loss. Started multivitamin and b12 today. I hope that helps with energy levels.
  6. I like many more here have had persistent problems with my band to the point I had all the Fluid drained and have gained all 100+ lbs back over the last year and a half. Very depressing to say the least. My employer is about to switch from BCBS to Cigna so I'm hoping Cigna will approve the gastric sleeve or a full bypass. I'd love to hear people's experiences with getting insurance approval for this.[/quote I have Cigna insurance. I had my band removed and converted to a sleeve 5/28. For insurance approval I had to do a 4 month weight supervised counseling with my surgeon. Then a nutritional consult and a psy consult. Just like when I had the band. The only thing I paid out of pocket was my 300 dollar deductible. I am so glad to have the band out. Especially the port it had a tendency to be sore a lot due to scar tissue. Good luck on getting your approval. Just don't give up even if they say no at first.

    Hello I'm new!

I had my sleeve 11 days ago. Had my post op appointment today and was down 12 lbs. started my vitamins and b12 today so I am hoping that will give me more energy. Still struggling to get enough protein and fluids in. Each day gets better. I know you are excited. Its sure is a new life. Hardest part for me so far was giving up my diet pepsi and caffeine. Once over that hurdle it was all good.

    3 days post op

I was very lucky as far as my surgery went. No pain meds needed once I went home. I had a twinge or two from where they removed my port. My issue was coming down with a cold and raging sore throat two days after coming home from the hospital. It made it almost impossible to get my fluids in. Still struggling with getting my protein in. I go for my post op appointment tomorrow. I would love it if they advanced my diet but I know he won't. I am so sick of liquids.

    I miss real food

I never get to pureed food. I have a weird diet. First two weeks clear liquids. Third week still clear liquids but get to add one egg each day. I am so week and feel like I am starving. Would love to have just soup. I am 10 days post op.

    3 days post op

Low grade fever is normal after surgery. Its our bodies way of dealing with the injury. If it gets to 101 them you should worry and call your surgeon at that point. Mine got as high as 99.9 a few days post op. Fever does make you feel bad so I did take Tylenol. Hope you a feeling on the mend soon.

    Sunburnt

Tylenol will make a sunburn feel better. Takes the fever out of the skin.
  12. I am only a week post op. But my surgeon told me to weight daily. If I gain 3 lbs that is a fluctuation and if I gain 4 lbs its an actual weight gain. Gaining the weight back is the biggest fear for me since I had the lap band and lost 100 lbs then gained back 87bs when my band slipped and they removed all the saline.

    Food Porn

I am a week post op and still on Clear liquids. I was just complaining to my husband this evening about how many food commercials are on t.v. It is driving me nuts. I was able to watch them eat pizza for dinner last night and it did not bother me but there is something about seeing the food on tv makes me want it so bad. I just have to remind myself that I can't have those things any more.
  14. I had my band for 11 years. Boy what a mess. I did lose 100 lbs. but there was lots if stuck food and vomiting. My band was removed and converted to a sleeve a week ago today. The Dr did it all in one surgery. No complications with the surgery. He did say there was a lot of scar tissue and he had to chisel the port out. I had an allergic reaction to some medication given in recovery which caused severe nausea until the next day. Once that subsided I was good to go. Went home the next afternoon and never needed pain meds for my abdomen at all. Unfortunately two days later I got a really bad cold and raging sore throat. That has slowed down my liquid intake. I am glad I had this done. I just wish I had not waited so long. I wish you the best of luck.

    Recently Sleeved

I am 6 days post op and still having trouble getting in much fluid. Some days I do better with the protein but now I am really focusing on fluids. I don't want to get dehydrated and end back up in the hospital. On top of surgery I have caught a cold with a raging sore throat which makes getting fluids down even more difficult. They put me on amoxicillin today so I pray tomorrow is a much better day. Just keep sipping and do the best you can. Good luck.

    WPB soon-to-be-sleeved

I am in port saint lucie. Had my band converted to a sleeve on 5/28/15.

    Waited all my adult life

I also had a sleeve on the 28th. Not sure why but my surgeon keeps you on Clear liquids for two weeks. As far as my surgery goes I have done fantastic. But I think I have a cold or strep or something. This is the worse sore throat I have ever had. I have never been this miserable. I am just not able to get my liquids in due to this sore throat. I am so happy you have done so well and I hope you have continued success. Look forward to following your journey.
  19. I am 5 days post op and feeling pretty miserable as I have caught a cold and sore throat on top of surgery. Reading this has honestly made my day. Congratulations to you and I wish you continued success. Thanks for sharing.

    Unflavored Protein

I luckily just tired a sample packet. Did the same thing crystal light. It was horrible. I think you can add it to soups and oatmeal. I did make jello with it and that was not too bad.
  21. I see where most people are on Clear Liquids the first week. My surgeon has me on clear liquids for two weeks. The third week its still clear liquids but I get to add an egg each day. I don't get to have soft foods till week 4. I am so weak I don't know how I am going to make it to week three. I am so fatigued. I am post op day 4. Luckily today I have been able to get in 90 grams of Protein. Sorry but that nurse is correct, Im one week out of surgery and I lost a total of 16 lbs. You can't eat at all the first week its just liquids only so you cant help to loose weight. --leslie

I just checked out what it is online, now I want one! The reviews on a few sites not associated with the product are great.

It will be a while before I can have a banana but I saw it on amazon and thought it was something that would be nice to have.

  24. 4 days post op. Not sure how but I have a cold and sore throat. No fun. I was able to visit the Dr office today to get protein shakes and made a trip to Costco so I think I am doing pretty good.

  25. I had the lap band. It slipped last May and they took the saline out. I will advise you to be very careful. After being so restricted for so long once that saline was gone it was very easy to slip back into poor eating habits. I gained almost all my weight back. Last Thursday I had my band removed and converted to a sleeve. So far things are going well. I know all about that GERD business and it was no fun. I wish you the best of luck.
