    Any South Florida Sleevers!

I am in Port Saint Lucie. Dr Jefferson Vaughan in Jupiter is my surgeon. I am three weeks post op and have no complications so far.
  2. I tried the Syntrax fuzzy navel. It seemed to separate a lot with the powder sitting on the bottom of the bottle. I mixed it with Water. How do you make yours. I tried the vanilla bean torte the other day and it was really good. I used unsweetened almond milk and ice in the blender. I also like the chocolate. I need to try the cappuccino flavor. I just hate to buy another whole tub of something and not like it. The Vitamin shope has the single packets of the vanilla and chocolate so I was able to try them without getting the whole tub.
  3. I am not new to weight loss struggles. I had a band in 2004. Lost 100lb. Kept it off for 11 years. I did not have any support and it was a hard journey. My band slipped and I had revision to sleeve. I for one am grateful to any one who has been there done that for me to relate to. This sleeve is a whole new way for me and it helps to talk to people that have been through the whole struggle. I know when I finally do get to goal I will still need support. Thanks for being here. Stick around there are some of us that need you.

Ok. WTF am I doing wrong?

I hate to hear that any surgeon would be that rude. Maybe you should look for you a nutritionists check and see if your insurance covers one. Try to remember always Protein first then vegetables if you have room. Only get carbs from good veggies. No bread, rice, Pasta or sweets. I hope this helps. Unfortunately I did not have a NUT and the instructions post surgery were so inconsistent that many ppl started asking the doc. Instead of giving us correct information he just kept saying....do whatever you want...I'll resleeve you in 2 years. So I have never asked questions since.
  5. I wonder if it maybe you need to deal with your depression and food addiction and that may help you. Have you tried to seek any sort of counseling? This is really early to be having issues. Try to make sure you are controlling your carbs and sugars. Try to focus more on dense Proteins and you will probably be able to eat less than you think.
  6. I had band removal and converted to a sleeve on may 28. I have to say I was not really nervous much. More excited to be getting rid of the band and port. The thing I dreaded to most was getting the I.V. since I am very hard to stick when I am heavy. Just as I feared they had to stick twice to get the first one then that night had to restart again and another two sticks. I knew they had their work cut out for them. I think what kept my nerves at bay was the fact that I had did extensive research on my surgeon and felt I was in completely good hand. I am three weeks post op and the only thing about the surgery was I had sever nausea post op but I expected that. Anesthesia always makes me really sick. Try not to let your nerves get the best of you.
  7. wow, you look amazing. Great job.
  8. I did try chicken at about two weeks. The bread would scare me since it swells when it gets wet. I have not had any type of bread. I like to eat sliced deli turkey wrapped with a slice of low fat cheese.
  9. If you have access to scopolamine Patches they will help with the nausea. My doctor had me put one behind my ear the night before surgery. I still had the worse nausea I have ever had in my life because the idiots in the recovery room gave me dilaudid. Even though it was documented on the chart not to. I was so out of it in recovery that I was unaware when she did it until I started vomiting and asked what all I had been given. The Zofran did not touch that nausea. It got better the next day when the doctor came around and gave me Decadron. Not sure how that helped but by that afternoon I was able to eat Jello and broth and got to go home. I wish you much luck and I pray you don't have the nausea. Stress to everyone you see how much post anesthesia nausea you have and they will load you up with stuff. I think I would have been fine if it were not for the Dilaudid. The real kicker was I was not even complaining of pain. My blood pressure was elevated and they thought if they gave me pain meds it would come down so they could move me to the floor. I guess the fact that the fentanyl did not bring it down should have been a clue to them that other pain meds were not going to work.
  10. Black tarry stools indicate old blood. I would call the surgeons office and make them aware. Also if you are taking iron it will make your stool dark.

    Help!

I am 3 weeks post op. I have no pain and I had a band removed and converted to a sleeve. My incisions are itchy at times. I think you should call your surgeons office and tell them whats going on.

    Current sleevers in Alabama?

I use to live in Alabama will forever be a Tide Fan. Dr. Dewitt did bypass on 4 of my family members. I saw a picture of him last week and was in shock. He sure has changed over the years. He is very caring. You are in safe hands. He did not do my surgery because we moved to Florida 14 years ago.
  15. It was 9 days before I went.

    So tired

I am 2 1/2 weeks out and I feel the same way. Exhausted all the time. The nurse reassured me this is normal and it will get better. I do as much as I can but after I have been up moving around for a while I get real weak and my heart beats real hard. I am so ready for this fatigue to pass. I just keep reminding myself that I did have major surgery.
  17. Just before my surgery I cleaned all the carbs out of my house. No junk food. I do buy almonds for my husband to have for a snack. Its easy to not eat those things if they are not around calling my name. Chicken salad with minimal low fat mayo is my go to most of the time.

    Cold medicine

I got a virus two days after I came home from the hospital. The nurse at the office told me I could take Dayquil liquid or gel caps. I did the gel caps and it worked fine. They did make me feel full.

    heart burn

My doctor ordered Nexium daily 40 mg. Its required for me to take it for two months post op. I take the capsule whole since I got home from the hospital with no problems. If I have heartburn after that then I eat a tums.

you look amazing!! I am so proud for you. I remember what that felt like. My band failed and I gained most of my weight back before I got my sleeve. Two weeks post op. I can't wait to get this weight off AGAIN. I am looking forward to wearing all my boxed up clothes again.

    Lazy in the kitchen!

I feel the same way. Yesterday we went to Sonny's. I ordered off the kids menu and had about an oz of pulled pork and a couple bites of a sweet potato. It sit very well. I took about 20 minutes to eat my meal. I shared it with my 1 year old grandson and still brought home left overs. I skipped the bbq sauce to cut down on calories.
  24. I have Cigna and they did a peer to peer review and it got approved. Wishing you the best.
