Hi Jay! Tiredness is absolutely going to be there. Your body is going through a major event and it's going to be working overtime to heal up after being messed with. Your blood pressure may drop (very common post surgery) and that also makes one tired. As for the headaches... I haven't experienced any. Dehydration can often cause the headaches and as long as you keep sipping (harder than it sounds) then you should be okay with regard to the headaches. I only experienced nausea the day of surgery and 2 days post. That was mostly due to the anesthesia though. Once I got to eat "normal" foods, if I eat too quickly I experience some nausea, but I've learned to slow the heck down and it makes a huge difference. I've had hair loss for years so I don't know if it's increased or stayed the same. Like ShrinkingPeach, I have a ton of hair so I'm not too worried about the loss right now. My experience has been fantastic! I'm really pleased with my results thus far (I was sleeved 5/28). I've hit and come through one stall (there will be more I'm sure). I have zero regrets.

How long until I go back to work?
anikka replied to nomoremeds's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
When you get to go back to work is really going to depend on how well your body tolerates the surgery, whether you're still on pain medications, and if your job is one where you can be mobile often, yet sedentary when necessary. Not being able to get in liquids and Proteins is the hardest part of the first week after surgery. I had no pain after leaving the hospital, I was able to get in liquids relatively easily and take on the Protein through shakes. My issue was getting my blood pressure under control. I went into surgery with high blood pressure as one of my issues. Coming out of surgery my blood pressure dropped considerably. I went to my PCP one week post op and she changed my meds and that helped. By the time I visited with my surgeon 2 weeks post-op, I was off the BP meds all together. My daughter in law had surgery on a Wednesday and went back to work the following Tuesday. She had some complications but felt she needed to get back to work. She's a teacher's aid in an elementary school. Although she came home exhausted, she kept going to work each day. So really, it'll just depend on what you can handle post surgery and it's difficult to guess what you will experience until you're in the midst of it. -

Hi I'm Anikka. I am from San Francisco. 45 years old. Married, 3 kids, 3 grandkids, 3 furry grandbabies too. I was sleeved on 5/28/15. Currently in a stall and appreciating this site very much (Thanks @Alex). -
The truth hurts, but when provided through love, I find it hurts a bit less. Your daughters are brave and I love that they had no qualms about telling you that you own your own weight loss destiny. Makes me think about my current situation and owning what I'm not doing that is contributing to my personal disappointment. Thank you for the encouragement.

Nine days post-op and Gaining Weight HELP!
anikka replied to VSG_Hopeful's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much @@Babbs, your words are incredibly comforting right now. -
I'm right there with you @Gummie24. It stinks! But we WILL get through this stall and we WILL be successful at weight loss.

Boy can I feel you. I lost 15lbs post surgery and now I'm stuck and have been here for the last few days. It's incredibly discouraging because I'm not eating a bunch of food or junk or anything like that... the scale just isn't moving. I got on the scale this morning and I'm actually up 2lbs from last week. I know stalling is normal and I know my body will get itself regulated and I'll begin to drop more weight, but in the meantime, I'm working on not feeling like a complete failure.

I took my BP meds the evening before surgery. Day of surgery I was not given any BP meds in the hospital. My blood pressure was 151/81 consistently after surgery. Day after surgery I was given my regular dose of BP meds while in the hospital. Once home, I was monitoring my BP daily and it was pretty low - 103/65. I saw my regular doc 1 week post op and she reduced my meds. By the time I saw my surgeon, 12 days post op, I was taken completely off the BP meds. I've been consistently "normal."

I've done premiere protein ones only and I enjoy the strawberries and cream on the most. I added some cinnamon and nutmeg to the vanilla and that helped it taste more flavorful. I also have had them over ice, which adds water intake and thins them out at the same time.

I can relate. When I was 3 days out everyone I put something in my stomach I turned into a teenage boy (gas machine). I would burp and toot and thought it would never go away. Fortunately, it subsides. I'm 1 week out and still get some gas, but not a ton. It does subside.

Medication After Surgery
anikka replied to Carole61's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely talk with your doc, but I was given my meds the morning after surgery in pill form. I had no issue getting them down. I was able to take several pills in one swallow before surgery so maybe I just mentally figure I can take them easily one at a time now. -
May Sleevers...where are you?
anikka replied to bvenegas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had some tomato soup, didn't know it was spicy when I bought it. I was able to tolerate it just fine. I'm one week post-op and on full liquids. I find that yogurt sits harder in my tummy than other things. I'm definitely dealing with head hunger, but my sleeve has no problem in letting me know it's too much. I had broth from Chinese soup the other day and it was the first time I felt over full. I had about 6-8oz total but felt like I'd had a 6 course meal. -
My daughter in law had horrible reflux before surgery and post surgery she's had none at all. She's also on almost regular foods.
-
My dizziness is related to blood pressure. Pre surgery I had very high readings, now things are much lower. I'm being weaned off the BP meds. (I'm 1 week post-op.)

Hyena hernia repair and sleeve...
anikka replied to HotATL73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a hernia repair done. I didn't even know I had a hernia. I'm 4 days post op today and haven't had any issues other than gas pains, but even those are manageable.
