Canadian sleevers self pay Mexico
sparkles1971 replied to Amixtika's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did have it in Puerto Vallarta on self pay. I think there is Medicard you can get for the surgery in Mexico or anywhere. I paid about $7500 CDN after exchange to USD, as the hospital (Amerimed) is American owned. -
Should I do a pouch test? I am 7 months out, and lost 70lbs and have 20 left. I have stalled but workout about 6 days a week. I eat well and get my protein in. Not sure if it's weight training or what...maybe exchange of fat for muscle??? Super annoying to bounce between 158 and 160 over and over.

Surgery is a tool, not a cure all. If I you don't change your lifestyle with exercise and good food choices, it is a no brainer..:.you WILL regain. The choice is yours, and yes, the fear is very real.

Same boat here. I have been between 159-161 for a month. I exercise 6x a week and do intervals etc. I'm thinking my protein has been lacking a bit. I am going back to tracking with my fitness pal and getting my protein in before anything else. Stalls are no fun.

Will Metamucil stretch the pouch? I find that the iron supplements make me have some bathroom issues.

Bupropion for libido? Maybe a natural supplement. I am having the same issue, am going to check out the health food store on the weekend.

May Sleevers, How much?
sparkles1971 replied to Jessica Radcliff's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
62lbs gone. Started at 238, currently 176lb. Sleeved May 20/2015. -
A number on the scale is just that...a number. Exercise is a must for healthy lungs and heart. I did up my calories a bit when I started working out...I just don't ever see how it can be a hindrance. It is about lifestyle change for long term.

I do 30 minute weight training (21 day fix) about 3 days a week and alternate with light jogging for the other 3, and usually yoga or Pilates on the 7th day. I track with my fitness pal and get about 1000-1200 cals a day with 90g protein minimum. Is this too many calories? I am 4 months out from surgery and it seems like a lot to me.

Packed up a huge number of clothes today that still fit!
sparkles1971 replied to marypups's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was overweight, I lived in tunics or tanks with cardigans. Now even putting them on 60lbs lighter takes my brain and self image back to 240lbs! Funny how that happens. Purge purge purge!! Get new stuff that fits and flatters! -
To tell or not to tell
sparkles1971 replied to cookies_queen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I didn't tell for the same reasons. But none of my inlaws know either for the same reason of judgement and saying it's the easy way out! We all know otherwise!! -
I am losing, but it's slowed since I started working out more often a month ago. I have always lost about 2lbs a week and every 10lbs it slows for a few lbs and then picks up again for the next 6-8, rinse, repeat. I guess it just sounds like a lot compared to the past 3 months of 600-800 cals. Unfortunately, I had my surgery in Puerto Vallarta, so there isn't a lot of post op support.

Protein Bars?
sparkles1971 replied to Luv`n_all-of_Me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bake the quest bars...cut into 6 pieces and bake at 350 for 10 mins or so. They are like mini cookies! -
What do you tell people?
sparkles1971 replied to Painter Girl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I haven't told people anything other than that I am watching what I eat. As far as cake, I avoid it. I have however been in one awkward situation where I took a bite and then acted really full. Everyone knows I love(d) cake and packed it for me to take home. Once home it hit the trash. At least no ones feelings were hurt. -
Has anyone tried Quest protien bars? If so, what flavours are your favourite? Also, cookies and cream nectar protien?? Thoughts?

What weight do you count from?

I go from the date I started my presurgical diet. I consider that part of my surgery plan, so makes sense to me. -
Bad Breath/Taste in mouth-sleeved June 22

I always have a "kale chip" taste in my mouth. Must be the same thing...Sooo gross -
is that what your parents told you your whole life is that your opinion doesn't matter, Babbs?? Is that why you are a bully to those who disagree with you?
-
Well if someone posts on a public forum maybe they should be prepared for the good and the bad. Stop trying to be a bully just because someone doesn't agree with your opinion
-
Oh so I can't have an opinion. There is a reason they invented birth control. So sorry I can't support someone who was so careless, and then just acts like the pregnancy is a nuisance. It's not my judgement she needs to worry about.

Babies aren't disposable items that we get rid of out of convenience. Sorry but this post sickens me.

What do you wish you would/wouldn't have taken?
sparkles1971 replied to RNsleever715's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Large cup for water, I still use this for making sure I get all my water, as each fill of 2.5 cups. I packed wayyyy to much. In the short time I was there, I sure didn't need everything I took. I couldn't stomache gas x strips in the first few days, but use them a lot a few weeks out. They gave me stuff for acid and nausea, so I didn't need that either. I did take sugar free ricotta for my throat and that was a good choice. Take sugar free water drops to have something flavourful, and broth cubes. -
Does anyone else not feel the trade off of low protien is worth the calories in cream of wheat? I bought some and decided it isn't worth it. On the hunt for high protien puree....here we come refried beans and chs

Did they really take half my tummy?
sparkles1971 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 7 days post op today. I have been able to get protien shakes, fluids, Jello, etc in without any issues. I have had no nausea aside from anesthetic wearing off. I just started full fluids today and had 2cups reduced fat tomato Soup made with Water. I also managed a whole container of Source yogurt...although it is a little thin. Nothing has made me feel full. I am wondering if they actually cut half of my stomach out, or just took my money and put in 5 fancy cuts to make it look official ????
