I had revision from band to sleeve on 7/1/15 and couldn't be more happy. They are such different in how they have worked. I was banded in 2012 and lost 25lbs and gained 75 when they had to take almost all Fluid out as I was not hitting "sweet spot" and getting food stuck. Since revision 2 months ago I have lost just over 40lbs and feel so much better!! Port area for me was always sore and doctor said that tends to be normal as well.

August banders
tryinagain2day replied to laurabarto26's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Each person is very different. I was banded in February 2012 and only lost 25lbs and then over the next two years gained 75lbs. Had lots of issues finding the green zone, gerd etc. Finally found new doctor and ended up doing revision to Gastric sleeve July 1, 2015. I have lost 42lbs since surgery. My dad had lapband and shortly after I did in 2012 and he lost well over 100 lbs and has kept it off. I just say choose the surgery for you and not just due to one be permanent or temporary as I did originally. Each surgery will have pluses and minuses. Good luck with what you decide! -
Any Band to Sleeve Success Stories Out There?!?
tryinagain2day replied to lisaluvsgreys's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was banded in Feb 2012 and lost 25lbs and then gained about 100. I did revision on 7/1/2015 and Dow 30lbs. I had minimal scar tissue so revision was easy the doctor shared. Wish I did this surgery the first go round!! -
Band to Sleeve and other questions!
tryinagain2day replied to iamshazza's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Best decision I made!!! I have lost more weight and now actually feel full with the sleeve. I was banded in 2012 lost 25lbs then gained 75 back. Finally got revision and loosing at about 2-4 lbs per week. With the band I never found "the sweet" spot and was always to tight or not enough restriction- was like a yo-yo. -

weight loss before revision
tryinagain2day replied to Caela88's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Any friends who used another doctor? That is how I found mine, same building actually right next door to my previous surgeon. They work together in a fashion but each doctor will have a different approach. -
weight loss before revision
tryinagain2day replied to Caela88's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had a doctor similar when I was having issue with Lapband. I left the office and did nothing for a year and then I found a new doctor and within 4 months I was scheduled for revision surgery. Look for a new doctor, don't delay. I gained all my weight lost from the band plus 50lbs so now starting all over. -

tryinagain2day replied to lealor's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

How long were you out of work?
tryinagain2day replied to jfzimmerman's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had surgery mid day on a Wednesday went back to work on Monday and then took Tuesday and Wednesday off. I would say best to take 2 weeks off. Now at three weeks out I feel almost 100%. -
I didn't realize the hospital in Mac had a support group. I had surgery 7/1/15 which was revision from band to sleeve. Surgery was done at Legacy Good Sam in Portland but hard to get back to in the evening from the Forest Grove area. I am gonna have to check out the support group dates and times. How are you all doing after surgery?

How did you choose your doctor?
tryinagain2day replied to semausmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First want to say that people who have the band can share some of their experiences- good and bad. The band was not good for me but great for my dad. I think it's great to understand ALL options when gong in for a surgery. I went in with blinders as I didn't want anything that was going to change my insides and many say the same. There are plus and minuses from all surgeries and really need to be aware of options that's why they are there. By the way- I was handed 2012 lost 25 lbs gained back 3 times that amount and now revised to sleeve 5 days ago. Whatever a person decides on they should view and understand ALL. -

How did you choose your doctor?
tryinagain2day replied to semausmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear you about the band not being permanent and got the band 3 years ago. In 3 days I will be doing revision to sleeve. I lost 25 lbs with the band gained 75lbs after many fills and unfills. It's all about finding what works best for you and make sure to sit down with your surgeon once you have one identified and understand all aspects. Good luck in your journey. -

I was approved with UHC, received letter (copy of what was sent to doctors office) stating approval for band removal and gastric sleeve to be performed- great news!!! The second half of the letter states that if patient has maxed visits or dollar the patient would be responsible for balance unless stated other wise with plan. I am almost to my out of pocket max for the year so was curios if anyone else has had this letter or is it really just a form letter covering all patients? Will be calling Monday to confirm.
