  1. I just ordered a container of Unjury unflavored yesterday....figured I'd use it at some point or another. Haven't tried their other flavors, but might eventually.
  2. I've pureed a mix of refried Beans, salsa, and cilantro and have eaten it with guacamole and ff sour cream- it's really great! I've also done pureed frozen banana with PB2 powder and a little skim milk - tastes better than ice cream! I just tried pureed chicken salad last night too and it wasn't horrible.

How accurate is your calorie counting?

Thanks everyone! I'm definitely going to have to experiment and see what app will work best for me. And I've been approximating for most of my meals lately except ones where its very easy to measure, so I should probably get better with that to make sure I'm not eating too much!

How accurate is your calorie counting?

I really believe tracking will help me even though it somehow feels like torture when I can't record everything perfectly. I think I'm going to invest in a kitchen scale finally. I've had one in my Amazon cart for almost a year but just haven't really felt the need for it before
  5. I've never heard of either of these! I'll definitely look into them. =)
  6. I work for a small company and I'm a new employee....I was so scared to tell my manager or anyone here because every single one of them is skinny! That's not even an exaggeration. They're all very thin. So I decided to tell my HR manager first about taking the time off and ask her how I should tell my manager. She ended up being SO supportive and helped me tell my manager. Then when I came back to work, a coworker was wondering where I had been and didn't want to pry, but she's so nice that I just told her. And she goes "I knew there was a reason I liked you! I had gastric bypass 11 years ago." She had it when she was 18 years old, looks great, is married, and just had a baby -- great inspiration for me and she's already given me advice. My friends have been supportive. Some of my family is, some aren't. That's been the roughest part.

Good point - I know I'm always going to have trouble getting the protein in. I'll check out SparkPeople -- sounds like a good resource!

How accurate is your calorie counting?

Yes, I'm the same way!! Probably why I've had so much trouble losing weight in the past....if I can't do it well enough, it's not worth doing... I tend to obsess over things, and I've found myself spending an obscene amount of time scanning barcodes for every little ingredient I use, entering details myself, searching MyFitnessPal for comparables, or staring at the serving sizes trying to make estimates because I measured in tablespoons but apparently the serving size is 1/3 cup, so I convert both to mL to get the correct amount....and that takes a ridiculous amount of time when I'm only measuring guacamole. It's nice to hear from someone who is having tons of success without tracking all the time. Maybe that will calm me down a bit.
  9. That's what I was going to get, but then I started hearing it wasn't good for mixing into hot things, and I definitely want something I can mix for hot or cold. What's been your experience with it? What do you add it to?
  10. Haha! I thought 10,000 steps a day was the norm -- am I totally off? What sort of mileage/step count is everybody trying to do?
  11. Does anybody use unflavored protein powers from stores (well, ones that ca be bought in store)? I'd love some recommendations for ones that are easy to put in hot or cold foods. I'm nervous to order a huge bucket of it before I actually try it. Not really sure I want to go through the hassle of trying samples from tons of places either, so I'm still debating on diving in and buying a large quanity of one and sucking it up if I don't like it or spending some time ordering/finding samples. The problem is most of the sites seem to have flavored samples, not unflavored. I tried going to GNC for sample-size ones and they only had flavored.
  12. I think I need to get rid of my scale. I have stepped on it every morning since coming home from the hospital and I'm driving myself crazy Ugh, I'm doing the same thing! Sometimes even weighing myself in the morning and before bed...I need to stop! I gained 0.4 pounds from yesterday and am so upset with myself! I try to keep reminding myself that the sleeve is letting me do better than I ever have before.
  13. I'm struggling on the Fluid intake. I'm two and a half weeks post-op. I have a water bottle in front of me that's 3/4 full because I just can't get it all down. =(

    May 26th Sleevers - 2 week check-in!

Did you go back to work already? I miss my afternoon naps and 9 hours of sleep after surgery! Now I'm back to about 6 hours a night, no naps, and I'm definitely tired! Minced food sounds better than pureed!

    May 26th Sleevers - 2 week check-in!

Yeah I turned 23 ten days before my surgery. Nice to meet someone else my age!! Are the isoprotein ones the fruity drinks? I might have to try them...I'm getting sick of Premier Protein chocolate shakes! I'm exhausted too. My NUT didn't give me a specific calorie range, but I've been getting, on average, 400 to 550 calories a day. How about everyone else?

    May 26th Sleevers - 2 week check-in!

My surgeon said it was OK to keep going with Protein Shakes and liquid diet items if you like them! He said he's seen people keep doing that up until the solid food phase before.... My NUT said the pureed phase was to help with tolerance so it's good to try new things and see how you do. I think if you like something not-pureed, then you might like it pureed too! I like cauliflower and find I love it pureed too. I'm sure you'll find something you like soon. =)

    May 26th Sleevers - 2 week check-in!

Totally with you both on the protein! I'm allowed scrambled eggs on pureed and I've been able to almost eat one egg + one egg white. I think I'll move to just egg whites to reduce calories though! It's a decent amount of protein, but I definitely need more!!

    Eggplant puree?

Did anybody eat eggplant during the puree phase? I start pureed today and didn't find any search results for eggplant puree (such a weird thing to search for!). It just sounds really good to me - I've been craving eggplant, so I'm curious if anybody tried to do a faux eggplant-parm italian-type puree thing? I was thinking of roasting the eggplant and pureeing it? Maybe searching with ricotta and tomato sauce? Any thoughts?

    Eggplant puree?

I was craving an Italian fix (my family just had eggplant parmesan the other night) so I wasn't sure if baba ghanoush would do the trick! I feel a little gassy already so we'll see if my stomach settles.

    Eggplant puree?

Well, I did it! Haha I made an eggplant mush with garlic and some spices and par cooked it. Then I layered it in a ramekin with tomato sauce at the bottom and a layer of ricotta above it (with egg mixed in both layers to make it casserole-y). Turned out pretty delicious! It ended up looking like shepherd's pie! I'm calling it eggplant shepherds'a pie.

    My Black Bean Soup Story

Haha that's so smart! Next time I'm going to BJs, I'll wait till I'm ready to have a meal of their samples!
  22. So it's been a little over a week since I was sleeved and well over two weeks since I started my full liquids diet. I started getting sick of Greek yogurts, popsicles, chocolate Protein shakes, and tomato Soup. All so sweet! So today I decided to make black bean soup! It's easy to puree, will provide protein, and will satisfy my savory craving. So I made the soup, and like any good home cook, I took a few (liquid) tastes throughout the process to check seasoning. Finally, the soup was finished. I took one last taste and the seasoning was spot on! I stared at the pureed result in my Ninja blender and realized... I was full! I still can't stop laughing at the ridiculousness of being full from making my soup without even pouring myself some! Guess this is my future - lots and lots of leftovers!
  23. @@bvenegas I feel the same way. Haven't felt hungry since surgery and I'm a week and a half post-op. Hope I didn't just jinx that!
  24. Same experience for me! It takes me over an hour to drink a premier protein shake and sometimes I have to put it back in the fridge and finish it later. I've been using a straw for everything! I think I'm off full liquids on Tuesday!
