Heartburn.....
seesuzyshrink replied to lowflyby74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My reflux is getting worse. I wake up every morning between 5 and 6 am with acid in my throat. I have to get up and chew 2 OTC Pepcids then take my Rx Pepcid and in about 30-40 minutes I feel some relief. Guess I need to call dr to see about a stronger prescription. But I wonder what the heck is causing this? I agree about the yogurt. I think it is aggravatingthe reflux. I have switched to soy yogurt that I found at Whole Foods and it did not bother me this morning. Small steps. I just wish I knew what is going on with this morning thing. -
I'm taking chewable Centrum adult multivitamin x 2 daily , B12 sublingual, D3, and calcium citrate. ????

That's the spirit! We're going to have a lot of situations that will make us stop and think. How we respond to these situations may make all the difference between success and failure. You've already acknowledged that grazing is a bad choice so you're ahead of the game!! You're going to do great!! Keep your head up and smile! ????

When does the tiredness end?
seesuzyshrink replied to DojiGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here as with others. I get pooped quickly and I just have to stop and rest. Two weeks post op. I am learning how to pace myself. I think we all forget that this really is major surgery and not just something itty bitty. The healing process is not quick and the whole procedure takes a toll on us. Keep hydrated above all and rest as needed. Walk often even for short periods of time and think positive thoughts. You are going to do great!! -
I am on day 12 and having the same problems. Even the Jello, which didn't bother me last week, is causing discomfort now. This just started a couple of days go. I seem to be burping quit a bit and wake up in the morning with acid in my throat. Don't want to drink anything because of the discomfort. I have zero energy but no pain in my incision areas. Glad I have an appointment with my surgeon on Thursday.

Thursday is my day!! I can hardly wait. Good luck to you...I bet I'll self-puree as well. My teeth are more than ready. -

I have had the same thing and I haven't had a period in 4 1/2 years! Have an appointment with my surgeon on Thursday so I'll bring it up then, probably just a hormonal thing. -
Advice needed! Clear Liquid diet.
seesuzyshrink replied to brookealison2001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the others on keeping the Protein shakes thin. I pour mine over ice and as the ice melts the shake thins out nicely. And remember...sip, sip, sip! Sometimes I forget and I take a big old slurp and and sure do pay for it afterward! Patience has never been my virtue but I sure have learned to use restraint in these past 12 days. Good luck! -
What was your level of PAIN?
seesuzyshrink replied to jadama22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on 6/18/15. I was first on my surgeon's list that day and was in recovery by 9am. My pain level was never high. I was up walking after I was good and awake and that continued every 2 hours until I was discharged. I really think that's what kept the pain away. I did have dilaudid in my IV but only for a few hours. It made me too groggy. When I went home my pain level was very low. I never took the prescription dilaudid that I had filled before the surgery. Took Tylenol twice and that was it. I didn't even have gas pains. My incisions were tender but not painful. I had minimal bruising and everything looks good. -

My doctor said no alcohol for one year. It's not worth the calories at this point. Maybe after I reach goal I'll change my mind. -
How did you guys survive a two week clear liquid diet?
seesuzyshrink replied to ldean7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first week was ok. I was not hungry and I was prepared for not having any food. But as I have progressed in the second week I have found myself getting hungry late in the day like around suppertime when everyone else is eating. I am so sick of sweet things such as the Jell-O and the Popsicles. I hope I never see chicken broth again as long as I live. I was desperate last night so I literally sucked a kosher pickle. I cut all the seeds off and I sucked it dry. Best thing I'd had in a long time and it satisfied my craving! I am really looking forward to seeing my doctor Thursday and hopefully get the go ahead for puréed food! You can do it and it will be so worth it !! -
How many calories are you getting?
seesuzyshrink replied to Sara51692's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I, too, have switched to Isopure protein water. 40 G protein per bottle is much better than what i was getting from the protein shakes. Still tastes funny so I have been diluting the Isopure with G2 and it is so much better. 8 days out and just made my protein quota for the first time yesterday. Keep on plugging!! -
I, too, am on the 2-week liquid diet. Today is day 6 for me and I am already tired of this. I was getting the heaves on the chicken broth until I decided to add 1 spoonful of cream of chicken to the broth and then liquify it in the blender. What a difference it made! The broth was still as thin as Water but the flavor was more like the cream of chicken Soup. I also am drinking Isopure Icy Orange which has the nastiest after taste. I mixed the Isopure with orange flavored G2 and now it is delicious. Maybe these little tips will help you, too. Hang in there...it will all be worth it!
