Hello, 
My name is Sarah and I am scheduled for the gastric sleeve on June 2, 2015. I have struggled with weight ever since childhood. I grew up in a home where I was constantly ridiculed for my weight, my mothers nickname for me was thunder thighs and not in a playful manor. I suffered through verbal and physical abuse while growing up. When I was in my later teenage years I got involved with an older man and got stuck in a routine of eating way too much, having little or not exercise, and gained a lot of weight. I thought I was at my heaviest when I got pregnant for my oldest at 19. I was 178lbs. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 24 weeks and actually did really well following the diet restrictions and everything during the rest of my pregnancy. Thankfully the rest of the pregnancy and delivery went well and after my son was born my sugars went back to normal. Again though after my son was born, I got stuck in a rut and wasn't eating right or exercising. I also was put on the Depo shot for birth control and within 2 years I had gained 100lbs. Again at what I thought was going to be my heaviest I got pregnant for my twins. This was a very difficult and high risk pregnancy. I could have lost one or both of my twins at any time. I was also insulin  at 16wks gestation. I actually lost weigh while I was pregnant and I was eating 8 times a day and still my doctors wanted me to eat more. My twins were born 6wks early and 3 months after their birth I no longer needed to take any Diabetes meds. From there on it was one failed diet and exercise program after another. It has been a long 11 years of battling my weight. I had reached the 300lb mark and I knew I needed to do something and soon. I found out my insurance would cover the surgery and I did a lot of research and a lot of praying to come to the decision to have the gastric sleeve done. I am excited and nervous at the same time. But I know deep down that I am making the right decision and looking forward to the new lifestyle!!
