  1. Real comfy pajamas, slippers non skid sole, toothbrush/paste, pillow for ride home, deodorant, I like baby powder, and lip balm, comfortable clothes to go home in. I was there 2 nights, I really didn't need much more. Good luck
  2. I am 8 months post sleeve, down 90-91 lbs and love it. This is the first time, well the past month, that I have had such a slow down in weight loss since the very beginning. After the slow start, I went full speed ahead and finally lost a significant amount of weight. Now I am staying pretty steady at 178lbs-177lbs. I have been eating more carbs after my 6 months rolled around and I am trying my best to cut back on them, bread is a huge downfall, I know just stay away, but it is very hard, that's why I am looking for a new therapist. My question is do you think it is a stall or the carbs, or combination of both. I am averaging 70-75 gms carbs per day, sometimes a little more. Thanks for advice and or comments

    I can eat ANYTHING

I pretty much can do the same. I definitely have restriction after a few bites, but so far 8 months out I can tolerate all foods I have tried and really have no intolerances either.I have overdone it occasionally, too much of something and felt nauseated, but it was more from too much then the food itself. I feel grateful for my sleeve, and really need to watch how much and not push that last bite that puts me over the edge. It is hard. I pretty much can do the same. 4. Hi Stacy. I get in anywhere between 80-110 gms Protein a day. I am drinking lots of fluids, I train with trainer 2 times a week, ride bike and walk in pool, about 3 times a week and go to physical therapy for right knee 3 times a week. MY sugar and fats are not over the top. I do not see doc and NUT until May 12th, so just wondering what some of the veterans thought, thanks

    Sleeve or RnY?

No nsaids with the sleeve either per my surgeon, and I had a total knee replacement, would have loved nsaids. I will be hones, I never even considered the RNY, just because I did not want my intestines rerouted and I was terrified of dumping. I am 8 months post sleeve, and love it. Good luck with your decision. Diabetics i do know ar better off with RNY, from what I have heard and seen.

    Anniversary

Congrats, that is great. I had my 8 month surgiversary on the 3rd, and I am down 91 lbs and it feels amazing. I still have about 30 lbs to go to reach goal, and I can only hope I am as close as you are to your goal t my 1 year. Good job and I love my sleeve also.
  7. I had so many moments, but I think what really did it, besides the knee pain, was flying. On landing the seat belt popped open, and it was embarrassing, so I just threw my jacket over my lap, and as the flight attendants came through they could not see the seat belt was not secure. Thankfully we had a smooth landing.
  8. My husband and I took a 25th anniversary cruise for 7 days, it was amazing. I did eat things I really should not have, like the Desserts, but I was grateful for my sleeve even more on this trip, as I could not overeat with all that food that surrounds you. I have not weighed in over a week, and now that we are home I will weigh tomorrow. I am a little nervous, but I know what I need to do, get back on track now. Rose if you are looking for me, we met on the cruise, It is me, Susan, just send me a message. Hope everyone is well, will try to catch up on some topics this week.
  9. I was sleeved 8/3, and down about 79lbs including pre-op. I was really doing well until 12/22 when I had my right total knee replacement. Pain I never could have imagined, even to date still unfortunately taking norco 2 x day for pain. I think if we were allowed anti-inflammatories it would make a big difference. Anyway, I was eating so little, pain and nausea, I started feeling sorry for myself and started indulging in some carbs. I am eating tacos, quesadillas, bread, etc. Truthfully not too bad, I am not indulging in cake, or anything like that, but I really do feel it hastens the weight loss. I always felt like a slow loser to begin with, so I am so mad at myself for doing this. I cannot believe, after the withdrawal from the sugar and carbs, took about a week after surgery with bad headaches, I craved them and let myself go back to them. Saw doc last week, and he said, yes now you are allowed, bread, rice and Pasta, but I have seen it quite a bit sabotage the work my patients have done, including you,you have done so well so stop it, he was serious but in a very nice way. I thought, oh I've got this, done it before, I will do it again, but man it's not as easy as it sounds. Anyway looking to anyone who may have gone through this or anyone with advice, and just saying knock it off is not so easy. I do feel less nausea and my calories are back up and my Protein, so I have cut back, but still craving those crunchy carbs, like crackers, and something sweet now and then. Thanks for any advice or comments
  10. I always felt I was a slow loser. At my first post op I lost like 3 lbs, I was so upset. Doc said slow and steady. Here I am almost 8 months out and down 90lbs, it's amazing, and I love my sleeve. I seriously thought for the first 2-3 months I was going to be his first failure, good luck.
  11. I cannot believe I have lost 90lbs in less then 8 months. I complained so much in the beginning how slowly I was losing, and here we are, April 3rd will be 8 months and I am so close to that 100lb victory. I keep telling myself, I would be glad to lose that much at 1 year out, and now it will hopefully happen that much sooner. That is with preop diet, but who cares. How does that 100lb loss feel, for those of you who have reached it. I would still like to do another 30lbs for a total of 120lbs, but we shall see. Good luck to everyone, love my sleeve.

    NSV - shorts!

You look great. I wish I looked like that, the skin hangs so far down it's gross, but very grateful for my sleeve and my 90lb weight loss. My biggest nsv, i think is fitting into booths that I could not fit into last year.

    2nd Surgery

I was sleeved 8/3/15, and had a total knee replacement on 12/22. If I knew then what I know now, I would have waited longer, maybe 9 months to a year. It is complicated but because the left knee comes under work comp I rushed it, even though I wound up doing the right knee. The pain was like nothing I ever imagined it could be, but remember that's a total knee, much different then your surgery. My BMI was below 35 at the time and that is all the doc cared about, but being on narcotics for the pin, kind of slowed everything down. If you can stand waiting at least 6 months, wait, good luck.
  14. I think that is how the saying goes. I sometimes eat a little too much and too many carbs and I lose weight. Other times I eat exactly the right carbs and calories and may gain 1/2 lb or more. It is like the sleeve has mind of it's own. I am not complaining, even grateful, but does anyone else find this also. I was sleeved 8/3 and finally out of the 180's, that was a long stretch, and hopefully catching up to my husband soon, who weighs 170lbs. It amazes me.

    Shakes and vitamins

My insurance Blue shield of CA paid for 6 months of the Vitamins, bariatric multi, c and Iron, and, Calcium, and b12 by nose. After about 2-3 months I could not tolerate the sweetness of the chewables, so I went to Centrum. My insurance would not cover the shakes, good luck.

    Dog experts...let's talk yorkie mixes!

I have no experience with yorkies but I love, love animals, especially dogs. We should start a dog lover sleeve group. We have 2 pitbull rescues that I rescued myself from a bum in Compton, CA, they are very sweet and do not act like the terrible reputations they have. We also have a rat terrier, sweet too, on medication right now for an infection on her both legs. Both pitbulls needed there knees repaired, lots of money, so we now have insurance on both pitbulls. We also have a maltese, she is a handful, about 8 years old. Hope everyone enjoys their animals for many years to come, and may they stay happy and healthy.

    nervis

i cannot imagine anyone NOT getting nervous, it is major surgery. I kept telling myself it had to be done, just like my gallbladder had to come out. I thought of it as a very necessary surgery, and it relaxed me some. Good luck, now I am 7 1/2 months out and 85 lbs lighter, so worth it.

3 weeks post op and need feedback

Add either GENEPRO or unjury unflavored Protein powder to yogurt, applesauce, Jello, Soup, and thats an extra 30gms of protien. My program calls for 80-100gms a day of protein, and this powder has been great. I still use it and I am 7 months post sleeve.

    Interesting experience

At least you got back out there, and there are some good ones, I am told. I find myself judging too sometimes, at least thinking why don't they do something about their weight. Look at me I did not do anything for 30 years, so you are right, I tell myself who am I to judge, but I think it is human nature.

    Surg date 3/17

As my surgery date approached, and I hate surgery, I just kept telling myself this had to be done just like my gallbladder had to come out, and it put me more at ease. Try to tell yourself you really have no choice in the matter, it just needs to be done, for your health of course. The preop for me was 2-3 shakes a day and 1 low carb meal so it was not that bad, good luck. I am now 7 months post sleeve and down 84lbs.
  21. I am 7 months post sleeve and feel like I am losing control. I see some bad habits coming back, over eating, more carbs, not being able to resist certain foods I have resisted for the past 7 plus months. When I reached 6 months, I was allowed so much more then I was the first 6 months, Pasta, rice, bread, and I did not feel as able to control the no part of those foods as I did before. Just wondering how you guys stay on track when the door opens up for these added foods. I try to tell myself nothing tastes as good as skinny/healthy feels, but it is hard. Need some tough love and good criticism. Thanks in advance.

    My journey

That's how i felt for the first 2-3 months. Lost weight very slowly, especially compared to other people, even though we are not supposed to compare. Well here i am 7 months post sleeve and down 84lbs, and now everyone notices. I really thought I was going to be the docs first failure. I still have 30-40lbs to go, and a little set back recently, but just stick to your program, Protein first, and get in your liquids, and it will happen, good luck.

    coffee

They told us only decaf everything for the rest of our lives. Caffeine can cause ulcers, and make gerd worse, that's my program, enjoy

    Occasional wine drinker

1 year, but must admit I am 7 months out, and have had a total of about 4 glasses of wine. Now 1 of my Iron test is high, so they told me to stay away from any alcohol right now, and I am.
