  2. Well today is the first post op doc appointment and weigh in, I am kind of nervous. Also have 1st post op class. How did everyone do their first week out of surgery, curious to know if I am on track. Will write again later results and if I learned anything. 8 days post op today

    Farewell My 140 Pound Friend

Great story, great success. Best of luck. I am 8 days post op today, nice reading the motivating stories, thanks
  6. I had pain in shoulders and collarbone when in post op, but that quickly went away, also took pain meds for the 2 1/2 days in hospital, and only 1 dose when I got home. Still have some gas, but it does not hurt. No stitches for me just steri strips and they are slowly coming off. Good luck, you'll be OK
  7. I did not think after the surgery I would feel this hungry. I am getting 80-90gms of Protein, juice, Water, Soup, etc and I am hungry. I am 1 week post op today. Does or did anyone else feel this way, I am scared, I am not going to stop overeating and that's what got me to the surgery. I thought the hunger is supposed to be gone, please tell me what you think, Thanks

    Sleeved in Sept.

Wow it sounds like me. I am 6 days post op, and right now its just Protein shakes and Water, I feel hungry and am so afraid of the old habits, like eating way too much at each meal, especially dinner. Right now I just take it hour by hour. Good luck with your surgery.
  11. thanks guys, i will question doc next week
  12. I am supposed to crush all meds, open capsules, or chewable. My meds are gross, the one especially bitter is the capsule I need to open. I am day 5 post op and cannot imagine doing this for 3 months. Right now I need my medications, of course since 2 are for blood pressure, pepcid, and asthma, I need them all right now. Does anyone have suggestions for the best way to do this, or their experiences with the pill situation, thanks
  13. I am 5 days post op and 1 thing before i forget, is I want to highly recommend the GENEPRO Protein flavorless. It gives you 30gms protein in one tablespoon, and I add it to clear broth, chicken, and does not change the flavor at all, and really helps to add to your protein intake for the day. I know people also like the Isopure, I think, but that is too much protein at once for me. Just a suggestion
  14. thanks, i am surprised at 3 months also i am day 5 post op, will ask doc next week
  15. I am day 5 post op. Waking up was not fun, so groggy, pain, but they controlled it, nausea, they also controlled it. Didn't even want to see my husband. The worst for me was trying to wake up, I was awake, but sleepy, if you know what I mean. The next day I started out drinking Water as they told me, then juice, etc. The AM before I left hospital I had a Protein shake and had no nausea at all. Pain never was bad, only took 1 dose of pain medication at home, and it was mostly for a headache. Still feeling very tired but restless. Hoping each day gets better. Trying to walk, but I have 2 bad knees, so it is very hard. Sore surgical sites, but nothing you cannot control with some plain tylenol liquid. The other women who had the surgery the same day all had different experiences. The 1 women told me she felt great, just a little tired, no nausea no pain right after surgery, so it is definitely true, everyone had different experiences. Good luck and try not to worry so much, I know easier said then done.
  16. When does the bloating and swelling go down in your stomach. I look like I am 8 months pregnant, doc said it was OK and would go down. I am post op day 3, just got off IV fluids this AM, and got out of hospital today. Trying my best to get all the Protein and fluids down slowly. Thanks for any advice.
  17. I was so nervous, yet excited. I had a hard time the first day, and you think you are never going to feel like yourself again. It was more nausea for me then pain, and I had a hernia repair also. The next day was so different, up walking and drinking. No narcotics after 2nd day, and sipping all what I am supposed to, post op day 4. Was in hospital 2 nights. Good luck, everyone is different, but you will do fine, it does get better after that anesthesia is out of your system. Another woman 2 years older then me, I am 57, had no problems at all, no pain, no nausea, and we had it done the same day.
  18. Me too day 4 just want some pureed chicken and mashed potatoes
  19. I would love to know when people started feeling like themselves. I feel spacey. Having loose BMs, tmi, and doing my drinking, sip, sip, sip. I just want to feel normal again, besides the hunger and overeating of course. I will showe today, yesterday horrible headache, and get out and walk more, it has cooled off. In LA area and yesterday was so hot, especially after spending almost 3 days in hospital. Please send me some progress on yourselves, it helps.
  20. Thanks guys for your input, t helps so much and makes me feel not alone. I only took 1 dose yesterday of tylenol with codeine, as that was really more for my headache. Now I am taking just liquid tylenol. I think, both physically and psychologically, I will feel better when I can eat something also. So much of my life centered around food, it still does, just less of it, and better choices, that's why we did this right. Of course I am on clears and Protein only. See doc next Wednesday. Thanks again, lets keep in touch. Just took my first shower since Monday, wow that made a difference, even put on some mascara. Good luck to all of us
  21. For blue shield I had to go once a month for 6 months to the surgery doc office and meet with someone to satisfy the requirements for the insurance company to approve the surgery, and show no weight gain. After the 6 months and I had all the testing done they required, stress echo, endoscopy, it was only about 2-4 weeks before all was approved and scheduled a date. i am sure some are quicker and some may be longer. Good luck
  22. Congrats, I am day 4 post op. Way to go August sleevers
  23. Post op easier because the hunger is not there, just a little, not like before. I am still sick of the Clear liquids and shakes, but could not even think about food, I am day 3 post op. Keep us updated.
  24. Thanks, keep me up to date on your progress, I like to know what to expect
  25. I have really enjoyed ready all these stories and it really has helped to get me through the last few weeks. I cannot believe tomorrow is the big day. So, so nervous, worried and a million questions. Just wondering how it will feel as you guys say on the other side. Hopefully it will go as well as some of you, not too much pain, and could really do without the nausea. Hope I get all my fluids in and stay hydrated and walking is an issue because I need both knees replaced, but certainly will give it my all. When I get home I wanted to ride my bike, but doc said no for now, take shorter walks more often. I will let you all know how it went as soon as I can. Good luck to everyone having it this week, keep in contact.
