  1. Call doc. I had a UTI right before surgery, got on antibiotics, told surgeon right away, and they said surgery should be fine, and it was, but you really should tell them
  2. I wish you good luck on your journey, but I have to say I cannot believe the things you are allowed to eat, chicken nuggets, homemade i hope not fast food. I know every doc has different standards, but nothing fried, even if doc said I could eat it. I am 21 days post op and on pureed foods, but next week we start cut up food. Hey if it works for you, that's what matters. Hope all goes well.
  3. Got to call your surgeon, it's up to him/her. I hope it all works out, good luck
  4. I am 22 days post op and still get hungry every 2 hours and can also eat more then 4 oz and I am only 5'4", so I don't know why some of us are hungry and can eat more and some people can barely eat anything. I have a call into the NUT to discuss this, as I have only lost 4 lbs since surgery and getting myself very upset. I keep hearing we are all different and it will happen, when. If my body is in starvation mode when does it give up the fat, so I know how you feel.

    6 wks post op

I finally felt thinner yesterday, but refuse to weigh until Wednesday, that's my weigh day. I was disappointed in my weight loss too, as I am eating so much less, you would think it would just fall off, but it's like my body has a mind of it's own, and is holding on to that fat, I hope my body gives in soon, and the weight really starts coming off. Everyone on here says it will. Good luck
  6. I am so depressed. I had the sleeve 8/3, I had lost 16lbs in 3 weeks from doing the preop diet. I do not own a scale, mostly because I do not want to get obsessed, and I know I will weigh 1-2 times a day if I have one, so I rather not. Anyway my first post op last week, I only lost 1/2 lb and was upset, and surgeon said it's nothing to be concerned about as in the hospital you usually gain from all the fluids. Anyway I weighed today, a week later and it was the same. I am so strict with the diet, have not cheated at all, and no weight lost, how could this be. I am even freaking out a little. Is this just gonna be another failure, it took me 3 years to get up the nerve to do the surgery. Please has anyone else experienced this, should I be worried, thanks

    What was the deciding factor?

I had reflux for years, and the NP tried to talk me into the bypass, but I wanted the sleeve. I discussed it with both the surgeon and the GI doc and both said it does not necessarily make or cause the reflux, and my surgeon was on board for the sleeve, so that's what i went for. Listen to the docs not the NUT, that's my opinion. I am 19 days post up and take 1 pepcid at bedtime, but we'll see. Good luck
  8. I feel better reading your post, so thanks for that. I am 19 days post op and have not lost much weight since surgery, and getting very discouraged, but after you said you did not either the first few weeks, i still have hope. I am the type if it does not occur right away, without the sleeve I would have said, see it's not working and probably go back to overeating but now can't and thats the whole point to this, so for that I am grateful. Thanks for your post, good luck to both of us, I hope that scale starts moving soon.
  9. If you have a hospital stay, I liked having my own pajamas, and slippers, toothbrush and toothpaste, lip balm, very dry lips. At home as was said above, Jello, ice pops, applesauce, premier shakes, thats the ones i like. Good luck
  10. The way I used to eat, compared to now is just so amazingly different, I thought the weight would just fall off, but it is not, so I am pretty discouraged. Everyone keeps telling me it will happen but when. I lost 16 lbs preop and only 1/2 lb post op on day 12. I am at day 19 today and afraid to weigh. Be grateful for any weight loss I guess, I hope mine is coming soon. I am not cheating at all, and we are all different, but i do see some people who lost 30 lbs in a month or 2, good for them, but I am afraid after this honeymoon phase, how slow does it go. Like everyone says, just gotta trust in the process and listen to doc

Im outta of the 200 club!

congrats, looking great. I wanna be otta 200 club so much, but only day 19 post op, good luck
  12. i do get hungry, doc told me I was thirsty, and other people say it's reflux, or gas, but it is hunger. I am 18 days post op and it has subsided some, but not totally. I can eat what I feel is alot, compared to what some other people say, and it worries me, but I am still eating about an 1/8 of what I used to.. Just eat what they tell you too, and I do get full pretty quickly, that's the good part, if only the scale would move.

    Hernia

They did with me, good luck 18 days post op
  14. Thanks again guys. From 7/16 until day of surgery 8/3 I was down 16 lbs, but since surgery all I have lost is 1/2 lb. I probably did gain liquid weight in hospital, but did not weigh before I left. I just read how some of you in 1 month are down 20-30lbs, and yes i know we are all different, but why haven't I lost even a whole pound. If I was cheating i would say it, I am not like that, like someone talked about why are they not losing and they are eating donuts, ridiculous. I have not had any sugar, except for fruit, which i have had very little of. I need to see the scale move for encouragement, so I hope it happens soon, Monday will be 4 weeks, thanks again
  15. Thank you, it better come off. I have very bad knee problems, but today I joined a gym for 5 bucks, so I dd the stationary bike and elliptical, but did not do much, like 20 minutes. Doc said I cannot go in pool or ride my outdoor bike until week 4, and I cannot walk more then about 10 minutes. I hope something helps, if not I will wait another week, then call the nut, and see what she thinks. I do not see doc again until 9/9
  16. I had a similar experience, although the surgeon was very friendly and pleasant, he is extremely busy and I could feel that during our brief visits, but I just felt a certain connection with him, so I stayed. The office staff, although pleasant also, could have been more supportive in my opinion. They are a center of excellence, and the surgeon has an excellent reputation, so I did not change. I attended other seminars and met with 1-2 other docs and did not feel like the fit was right for me. I think you have to go with someone yu just feel is right, and someone with a good reputation. If staying with her feels right, and it must or you would change, then go with her. Good luck, hope all goes well.

  19. People with their criticisms make me so mad. If you don't have a food addiction, you cannot possibly know what we are going through. Thankfully I have not had any negative feedback yet. I have told everyone I meet and know and even some people I just meet, i have nothing to hide, and if I can just help 1 other person, that would be great. Stay positive and what matters is that we are happy with our decision. I am only 14 days post op, so trying to get used to this new way of eating, good luck

    I'm afraid!

I am only 2 weeks post surgery, but I had terrible gerd prior to surgery, and I discussed it with the surgeon and he said he was not worried about doing the sleeve with gerd, as did other people in the group. I was insistent on the sleeve and the GI doc after my endoscopy said it may get worse but it may not, and do what I feel and the surgeon feels is best So I did, I had the sleeve. I take pepcid every night and so far so good, but I am just starting to add regular food back into my diet. You cannot go by the GI doc opinion alone, listen to what yur surgeon says and get another opinion from GI doc if you really want the sleeve.
  21. I cannot believe you were treated this way. I have been a nurse over 30 years, and never, ever would I put up with this treatment. I would be on the phone, or in there office, and loud enough so future patient's could hear me and the despicable treatment I had if I were treated this way. Get a manger or someone who maybe cares to point out these issues. Most other surgeons and their staff do not want to take over for another surgeon, they do not want that responsibility, and I don't blame them, so good luck finding someone outside of this horrible group to take over.I wish you the best and hope yu straighten it all out, but someone from that group needs to listen to you and have a surgeon see you within a reasonable amount of time, 2 weeks at most.
  22. This past week, 12 days post op, the constipation is some I have never had. I am drinking as much liquids as I can getting 80-90 gms of Protein. Took miralax, and suppositories. Anyone have or had this problem and what can you suggest. I messaged my doc for some immediate relief, but of course it is the weekend, and doubt I will hear back before Monday. Thanks for any sugfestions

  24. I do have cravings, 12 days post op. They are not as strong as they were, but mine is for chicken and fish, and cannot wait until i get to that stage, without pureeing, that's next week. I do hope it disappears, as cravings and overeating is what got me here.
