  1. My plan says no rice, Pasta or bread for 6 months, and that's the way I like. I just think to myself, not on the plan, don't eat it, for me it helps. I was a breadaholic, I miss it so much, so I just stay away for now.

    3 months post op

Oh my gosh, I know exactly how you feel. I am also so tired of being told, everyone is different and you cannot compare yourself to others. Then why are others losing, like you said, anywhere averaging 40-60lbs in 3 months. Ok, I am not at 3 months yet, 8/3 was my surgery, but I have only lost 16.5 lbs since surgery. When my doc first came in the room last week, he thought I lost 39lbs, because the MA put the wrong weight down, and he said, you are right on track. When I noticed the wrong weight, and he realized I had only lost 13lbs, then he said you are losing a little slowly, a little, you just thought I lost 39lbs and thought that was on track, I was so upset, and all he said was slow and steady is best. I have been doing nothing but following the program. I know this is your post, but so glad we can relate, I am really getting depressed. I cannot even get an appointment with the NUT. Good luck, I hope the weight loss picks up for both of us.
  3. I am a Bronx girl, but have now lived in California a very long time, but NY is still my home. I used to shop, take the Q 44 bus to flushing, for clothes, shoes etc, loved that area. Did some of my nurse training at Queens hospital. I had the sleeve 8/3, so 6 weeks out. How are you feeling, how did surgery go. I am losing weight very slowly, and that is my only complaint right now, but doc says slow and steady is good. I am anxious and would like to see a big drop soon. Good luck with your journey
  4. I am 6 weeks out tomorrow and felt the same way as you do. I am down 29lbs and that includes pre-op, so losing weight very slowly and doc agreed, but he says slow and steady is the best way to do it. I am eating almost exactly as you do, and get hungry about every 2-3 hours. I do walk in pool, 2 bad knees, and ride my bike, but hope to start weight training soon. It will come off, and it does frustrate me when I see people not hungry and losing it so fast, then there is us, but in the end, it might take a little longer, I think we will catch up, good luck.
  5. No, you can have sugar free juice, I like diet cranberry juice, chrystal light, ice pops, even Jello is considered liquid. According to my program the Protein shakes do not count towards the 64oz, but I see others on here say in their program it does. Right now the doc has me drinking pedialyte as he says I am dehydrated. I hate the taste so I mix it with the cranberry juice, hope that helps.

    Secret

I also have told everyone and anyone that might ask.. If they have their comments I do not care for, I really do not care. If you have not been in my place, or our place, having food issues and being overweight for 30 years, then what in the world do they know. So far everyone has been very supportive. It is a very individual decision who you tell.
  7. I know i have said this before, and don't mean to repeat myself, but the weight is so slow coming off. I was 253.5 on surgery day 8/3. Today is 1 month surgiversary and down 9lbs as of last Thursday, 245lbs, why. Has anyone or know someone that has truly failed at the gastric sleeve.I failed at every other diet, and although this is not a diet, I think I am failing at this too. My clothes feel no different today, then they did last week, and I don't want to freak, so scared to weigh. See doc 9/9. NUT no help. I am getting 70-90 gms of Protein. Not 64oz of Water, just cannot fit it in, but about 48oz. No junk what so ever, totally sticking to the food plan. I am eating between 600-750 calories a day. Does anyone have any ideas, or have been through this. I feel like i am going to miss the honeymoon phase, then what. Thanks for any advice, and for just listening.
  8. My doc says no, protein shakes do not count towards the 64oz of liquid they want you to drink
  9. My sleeve was 8/3. I had a pretty good recovery, except for the day of surgery, just could not wake up. Only took 1 dose of narcotic when I got home, no nausea, until recently. Saw surgeon today, 2nd time, and he said yes my weight loss is a little slow, but that's OK, slow and steady is best. Said he felt I was somewhat dehydrated and that is causing the nausea, so drink 1 liter of pedialyte for 6 days straight. I am getting in my Protein, but having a hard time fitting in 64 oz of fluids, so he is probably right. I am tolerating the foods, even some steak, trying to stick to 4oz of food, each meal, but I do get hungry. Weight loss is 16 lbs before surgery on pre-op, and only 13lbs since surgery. Nice to read about everyone.

    Driving after surgery

My doc said 5 days if not on any narcotics. It was 6 days when I drove, probably sooner but husband on vacation and he always drives when we are together.
  11. No gallbladder, had it out 2005, just sore. Nausea got better later in day. Will just see what doc says tomorrow, thanks
  12. I was just wondering, since I have reached about 5 weeks out now, surgery 8/3, I get nauseous in the AM, cannot finish my AM Protein shake, which I never had an issue with before, and have been feeling more sore in the right side of stomach. I feel like I was fortunate and really sailed through the first 4 1/2 weeks. Minimal pain, minimal gas, tolerating all foods, I am allowed, and now feeling different. Anyone else experience this at any stage. i did eat meat for the first time 3 days ago, but it kind of started a day or so before that. Last night had salmon, and some miso Soup, no problems. Thanks for any advice or similarites. I do see doc tomorrow.
  13. We went to a restaurant last night, and i was able to fit in the booth comfortably, where as before I barely fit. I did not ask for a table this time, just to see if it would be OK, and it was, yay. I have been so depressed because weight loss is so slow, but i felt a little better. Even my husband commented on how before i would always ask for a table, and now the booth was just fine

    Nausea

I am in my 5th week, and the last 3 days, I have had nausea, did not even have nausea besides the day of surgery. I think I need to drink more, seeing doc next week. I hope this passes for both of us
  15. Well here it is 1 month surgervarsary. I am disappointed in the weight lost, but I keep trying to remember slow and steady. I really thought it was going to be fast and furious, lol. I have read some posts on others peoples slow journey, so I will try my best to have patience, but it is so hard. I am probably eating 1/4 of the calories I used to, of course so much more Protein, Water, no white anything, why is the weight not falling off. See doc 9/9, lots of questions, NUT was not much help. By now if I was just on a regular diet, I would have so gone off of it, but having sleeve helps that and I am grateful for it, just wish weight loss was faster like I expected. Hope all doing well

    surgervarsary

Thanks guys, I really do not know exact weight lost, as of last Thursday I was down 9lbs from surgery. I do not have a scale, as I do not want to get obsessed with weighing, but clothes feel about the same. Afraid if I get on scale and it's not down I will freak.
  17. typo, tylenol that's about all we can have
  18. I had bad headaches too, I take tylenol extra strength liquid, that's about all we cant have right now. Hope you feel better
  19. Most days I am hungry, some more then others, and I was hoping this was not the case. I know how I really need to watch how much i eat.

    6 week follow up

I lost 9 lbs my first post op and I was disappointed also. Everyone keeps telling me trust the process, and I am trying but weight is coming off so slow. Glad to hear your doc said the same. Thanks for the tip on the physical therapy, I am going to try that with my insurance company. Good luck

    Acid reflux vs pureed foods

I am 25 days post op and still sticking with, chicken, fish, cottage cheese, yogurt. I am no where ready to try beef. Good luck
  22. I am in the same boat. I only lost 9lbs since surgery 8/3. I am already feeling like a failure. I am so depressed. Sent my NUT food diaries and she has not gotten back to me yet. i feel like i am doing something wrong. I am totally sticking to the food plan. Went to a support group last night, someone said they are down 30 lbs in 6 weeks and she/he does not, repeat does not, stick to the food plan, now that's not fair, and she totally admits it. She does not even keep a journal of her food. I would love to have the answer. Next week is chopped food and I am terrified, and I am always, almost always hungry. Looking for a new therapist also. Good luck to both of us. I am getting in my protein, but trying to up the fluids.

    Post op question

I had no catheter and no pain pump, and no drains. Yes I also had the leak test done when he finished the surgery, I never had another one while in hospital. They gave me toradol every 6 hours and dilaudud as needed, but i never took the dilaudid. Pain was never an issue after leaving the recovery room, thank goodness. Waking up the nausea was horrible, ask for some nausea medication prior to waking up. As you can see docs do ti differently. I could not drink or even have an ice cube until the next day. Then the 3rd day prior to leaving hospital, they gave me a Protein shake and wanted to make sure I tolerated it, and I did so I left hospital around 10am. Good luck and ask your surgeon. Surgery was 8/3
  24. I bought a wedge from amazon about 6 months ago for asthma and gerd, don't remember it being very expensive. i really like it, whatever it cost it was worth it. I am now day 22 and it is pretty comfortable
  25. I am 3 1/2 weeks out, and only lost about 4 pounds since surgery 8/3. I am feeling very frustrated and disappointed, but I keep being told it will happen and the weight will fall off. It is good to hear other people have had similar issues, not that I am glad you are struggling, and hopefully it will start falling off, but some of us our bodies are saying I know you had the surgery but we're holding on, and I hope eventually the battle begins and the fat is let go of. Good luck
