  1. So I'm super curious what everyone is having for Breakfast and what phase they are in and how far out post-op we each are. I would love new ideas, recipes, and products to use. I would also love any comments as to what may be wrong or incorrect about my meals. As for me, here is my breakfast and the nutritional breakdown. I will be six weeks post op on Monday July 27. I started my preop on May 26th and sleeved June 15. Down 31 pounds since start of pre-op 1 pouch of Oat Revolution Steel Cut oatmeal with flax 1 Tblsp of natural honey 1 Tblsp of finely chopped walnuts 1 Tblsp of finely diced strawberries 241 calories 6 gr Protein 40 gr carbs 8 gr fat A few side notes. It will take me two settings to finish this meal. I also use this breakfast to get my carbs in for the day. The rest of my day will be focused on protein! My NUT says I am allowed only honey or agave nectar as a sweetener.
  2. My experience was the same. It has been wonderful. The only thing I struggle with is remembering everything. Supplements, aspirin, exercise, protein, water, track my food. But I will figure out a system and all will be good
  3. Trying to remember everything every day. supplements Water Protein Exercise Aspirin Log food Get enough calories Wait 30 minutes Amazing how before I Just ate in oblivion. I gotta make a schedule. I either forget my supplements or my aspirin or don't get in enough water or fall short on Proteins or calories.

    Working out

I also want to add that I have an artificial knee and the trainer didn't want me on the treadmill and quite frankly I get tripped up walking on my gravel road. So he started me on the elliptical. I did two whole minutes nonstop today (woohoo!). He is very patient and building me up gradually. I'm excited to see my progress.

    Working out

I was sleeved on June 15th and joined a gym last week and started weight trainer with a trainer last week.
  6. They had me get completely undressed and wear a hospital gown into surgery. My upper incision is right on my bra line so I would think it would get in the way. Also my lower incision is right above my belly button. Again right on the panty line.

    Fatigue....

I was very fatigued for a little over a month after surgery. It gets better. Make sure and take your supplements and drink lots of water.
  8. I have never heard of this rule either. I eat three meals a day with healthy snacks in between and make sure I get my water in.

    Sleep

I have never slept on my stomach so I can't answer that. I used my little travel pillow to sleep on my side a few days after surgery and until I felt healed. I would press it against my stomach and roll over to my side. It gave me support sort of like a girdle. And I didn't feel like everything Inside me was shifting and falling.

    Carbs Before Workout

I just started with a trainer two days ago and quite frankly it's kicking my butt! (Thank goodness). He said when I was ready he could give me a diet plan to follow but for now follow my doctors advise due to my Bariatric surgery. He is starting me out very slow which I like. I generally have my workouts around 1 pm so I eat high proteins and get extra hydrated before. I honestly have no idea what I'm doing so I am following my NUT and surgeon requirements for diet and following my trainers advise for exercise. Hopefully I will gain more knowledge as I go along.

    Straws

I specifically asked this question to my NUT and she said it was up to me. The only reason they discourage straws is because of possible extra air in the stomach. She said if I didn't mind burping extra then I could use one. She said it would cause no damage to my sleeve. I have used a straw since surgery and had no issues.
  12. I want to start by saying that the personal insults really are unnecessary. The young lady seems to have enough issues without everyone here beating her into the ground. When I was in Mexico getting surgery there was a 16 year old there with her mom who probably only has 30 BMI and that young girl was getting surgery. I thought what a shame to be having such a life altering surgery at her age. She wanted the surgery but you could tell it was mostly at her mothers insistence. Her mother had never been overweight, her two sisters already had the procedure and the mom was saying "just think how beautiful you will look in your prom dress now." I wanted to tell the mom "your daughter is gorgeous, she would look good in a prom dress is she weighed 300 pounds!" But I didn't. My point here is that some people are just too young for such a huge decision. As for the original poster... Follow your own advise. Having the small stomach doesn't stop you from implementing a strong exercise routine, lifting weights, and eating healthy. Start those things now. Get back on track. Be healthy for you. Mostly be happy NO MATTER WHAT! Don't let your ego control your thinking. I have faith that you can overcome what demons battle with you daily. Good luck!! And God Bless!!

    Who Did You Tell?

Before surgery, I discussed it with my husband and all of my kids (grown and still at home). I told my close friends (about 7 or 8 people). I told my co-workers. After surgery I went and told my parents and my siblings. I have not announced it publicly on any social media though. I was excited about surgery and my decision to change my life. If anyone asks, I tell them the truth. Everyone in my life has been supportive. I am truly blessed.

    Gurgling?

I find I gurgle when I eat something that doesn't agree with my sleeve. I have started using that as an indicator for foods that I'm not ready for.

    Sugar Addiction

That's why I posted. I've been trying for years, with some successes and some failures, but I've not been able to kick it for good. That's why I wanted to hear how those who were in my boat used WLS as a tool and combined it with other tools to beat the sugar monster. Every time I eat anything with sugar I get sick and have diarrhea within 15 mins of having eaten it. I avoid sugar for that reason. But I get my sugar/sweet fix with sugar free Popsicles and Greek yogurt. And if you will drink GNC total lean Protein shakes, they have lots of flavors and are really sweet. Take advantage of the first few months to kick that habit
  17. I wasn't nauseas and had minimal pain. The hardest part was laying down and sitting up. The thing I wish I had known is what the anesthesia and low calories were going to do to my brain. I was stupid for a good month after surgery.

    What Are Your Must-Have Foods?

SF Popsicles... Pretty sure I have an addiction. I love them to snack on. A few other things would be eggs, Greek yogurt, protein shakes and water.

    So devastated

They seems very expensive. I have s friend that went through True Results and it was like $12k all inclusive .... Dr, hospital, follow up visits. Another doctor in Austin costs $15k all inclusive. I personally went to Mexico and was very pleased and impressed and paid $5,000 including airfare. I hope you figure something out. Good luck!

    What's for Breakfast?!

I honestly have not looked at the numbers. I just have always lumped it in with bad food. Thanks! I will check it out
  22. Let me address your concerns with my experiences. I am six weeks post op. "The fact that I can't freely drink as much Water as I'd like makes me so, so nervous. What if I get dehydrated? Will it take me four hours to drink four cups of water?" This was a concern for me also and yes I let myself get dehydrated but fixed it easily by forcing myself to drink more. At your stage it took me about an hour to drink a 16 oz bottle of water. I still forget to drink slowly and sometimes pick up a bottle and gulp... And regret. "Also, everyone said I wouldn't be hungry, but I am. This all clear liquid diet is kicking my behind. I know it's mostly mental, but I'm struggling the same. The prospect of another Protein drink, another half cup of broth..." I was hungry too. All I can tell you is this phase is very temporary. Just keep telling yourself that. SF Popsicles were my lifesaver! You will struggle but the struggle won't last. "I've also become paranoid that I've stretched out my new stomach." It certainly feels this way when your trying to get in so much liquid. But YOU DID NOT. YOU CANNOT at this point. "There's light at the end of this tunnel, right?" Absolutely!! And it is bright and great! "I'll be able to eat normal food again, right?" If by normal you mean healthy... Absolutely!! "I keep dreaming of salads...a nice, fresh, green salad packed with vegetables and crunchy as can be." You will but probably not until about 3 months out. Ask your NUT when. You will do great!! I have complete faith in you! Just be patient. You'll get there
