I am getting sleeved on June 15th and I am so ready. Good luck!
-
I was at a softball game last night and I got a message on facebook and the lady started out "I'm not trying to butt into your business but......". I hate conversations that start like that. I just really don't want to have to explain myself. I am 51 years old and I have my reasons and they are my reasons. On the flip side... A friend of one of my daughters heard I was having it done and her comment was "oh wow that is amazing! I will definitely keep you in my thoughts and prayers and if you need anything please let me know." No "what" or "why"... Just support.

I generally like to mow for part of my exercise. Someone needs to remind Mother Nature that we are in Texas! Lol The rain has been nice but this Texas girl is Getting cabin fever. -
Timeframe - from decision to have surgery to getting surgery
maggie409 replied to flipper72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you self-pay or insurance pay? If you are self-pay you pick a doctor and they do blood work and a few other tests, some to require a psych eval, but not all. Then schedule your surgery. If you are insurance it depends on your insurance company. I am self-pay with no morbidity issues and I decided to do this the first of May and I am scheduled for June 15th. -
Need Help Deciding to Go to Mexico
maggie409 replied to ABB'sObesityFight's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I have decided to go through BariatricPal and David Lopez as my coordinator. Dr Jesus Marti Lopez will be my surgeon. I have been very impressed so far. Everyone is efficient and helpful. I have also already spoken with my surgeon and a skyped for close to an hour today with my Nutritionist. She was soooo helpful and informative. My surgery is scheduled for June 15th and I am very confident in my decision. As an added bonus my husband is going with me and he will be staying in a condominium while I am in the hospital and it is no extra cost. As for Post-op care, I will be able to Skype with my NUT and my surgeon. A local PA where I live has had WLS and she has agreed to provide me post-op visits to do blood work, check vitamin levels, weigh-in, and offer whatever advise I may need. Good luck with your choice. If you want more info, just let me know. -
Large OOP Max Due/Financing Questions
maggie409 replied to momma_missie's topic in Insurance & Financing
Wow! I am self-pay and my options are between $12,200 and $15,000 in the United States which is all inclusive or going to Tijuana for $3,899 all inclusive which includes a condominium for my husband to stay in while I am in the hospital and some to pick us up and take us back to the airport plus $700 in airfare for a total of $4,599. I have gone with the Mexico option after carefully checking out the facilities and the doctors. Either way, I pay less as a self-pay than you will pay with insurance. Also since I am self-pay I don't have to jump through hoops. I am scheduled for June 15th. -
Dr Garcia Tijuana Cer hospital June 8th
maggie409 replied to alindsey's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I am scheduled on June 16th. I am flying down there on the 15th. I am nervous too but I bet we will both do great! I am scheduled for June 15th but using Dr. Jesus Lopez. I am very ready. -
I don't think your friend intended any disrespect with her comment about you feeling better about yourself. If she did, then she isn't much of a friend. I think that most people just don't know how to respond. Skinny people don't understand how we got this way in the first place and heavy friends are a little jealous that we are taking control. It is wonderful that you have taken control.

Where is a good place to blog?
maggie409 replied to Big Opie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't know about a blog, but if you want to keep a diary, try Evernote. It is a great app. -
My VSG is June 15th in Tijuana. I have bought all of my kitchen utensils like my bullet and strainer and food scale. I have bought and started my liquid vitamins and liquid calcium. Also been experimenting with broths and protein drinks. I am starting to get my bag ready. Oh and having lots of food funerals before I start my pre-op diet.

I don't have an avatar because every time I go to settings to add one, my app crashes. -

Chewable Vitamins during Post-op Liquid Stage?
maggie409 replied to SleevePerry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am taking these liquid Vitamins and calcium that I found at a local health food store. They taste good too! -
I have no morbidity issues and I decided for sure last Friday and made contact with the doctor I had chosen and I am scheduled for June 15.

I am a serious coffee drinker. My doctor said I could have coffee. I just need to buy decaf. Of course I drink mine black so there are no issues with sugar or creamers.

I'm driving myself crazy
maggie409 replied to mariahthompson0913's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I saw in another thread, and then read a related article that talk about the fact that your body can only absorb 10-20 gr of protein in an hour. Anything above that is converted to glucose and then fat. It seems the key to proper protein intake is to get no more than 20 gr per hour so if you are getting more, you may be taking three steps back. Information like this is why I love this website. -
My sleeve is scheduled for June 15th. I just brought my teens to the movies. They like sitting at the top row. I literally barely made it! Out of breath, legs hurt, and for the first time I touch the edges of my seat! I am so done with being twice my true self. June 15th hurry please!

Trying to stay positive
maggie409 replied to laguerr13's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I agree! I am scheduled for June 15 and it amazes me the stupid stuff some people do and then blame it on the procedure. Someone was eating bacon days post-op and some were smoking and drinking alcohol. If you aren't willing to give those up then reconsider the surgery. -
1 night hospital stay?
maggie409 replied to Martene81's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was originally going with a doctor in Dallas and the post-op instructions said that I would go home the same day and 1 night stay max. I am now going to TJ to have my sleeve and I will stay 2 nights in the hospital and 1 night at a condo unit. I am way more comfortable with the standards in TJ. My procedure is scheduled for June 15th. -
