  1. I didnt have to lose anything before surgery. However, I was on a liquid only diet for 14 days prior, so I did loose 16 lbs. during that.

    Christian bandsters

Hello Everyone! I am so excited to find this thread! I have been on the boards for a couple of weeks, but just discovered this one today. I started liquid only diet on 12/14 and was banded on 12/28. I need support! I know that God led me to do this, I have total peace about it. I am trusting him to help me eat only good things and giving my body daily to Him for the rest of my life.

'BBQ' chicken This is so stinkin easy and DELICIOUS! You will love it! 12 ounces of Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts, Whole or cut into pieces 1 Can Diet Coke 1 C. Ketchup Layer all ingredients into your crock pot. Simmer for four hours. When chicken is cooked, shread it into pieces. It tastes just like BBQ Chicken! My favorite food ever!

    What was your pre-op diet?

Hi everyone! I have noticed as I have been reading the boards that so many doctors have different requirements for their patients for pre-op diets. Tomorrow is day 10 of my 14 day liquid only diet. I can have protein shakes, water, broth, and SOME chicken, tuna or turkey (very limited). I was really excited (I know this is HORRIBLE) because I am now able to eat yogart (I had a yeast infection so I 'had' to...) I am so sad because I really want to eat at Christmas...oh well. What was your requirements? :hungry:

    Doctor Confusion

I went to Dr. Debarros in Tempe. 3 year support system. Yea, I paid more, but it is worth it to have a doctor on call 24 hours if anything happens.

    Confusion????

Congrats! I totally understand about the supportive-ness. I had my pre-op diet which started on 12/14 and surgery on 12/28. Since then, I have lost 19 lbs, and people are noticing. I tell people I am on a 1000 calorie a day diet. Its true-and works! Good luck to you! Tracey
  8. Ok, I am 5 days post-op. Seriously, this is the first day I have felt like 'myself.' My suggestion-have someone to stya with you for at least the first 3 days-they are so rough.

    Any Last Minute Advice.....

Congrats! I am 5 days post-op and I will be honest: this is the first day that I dont feel like punching anyone in sight! I am young, and really thought I would bounce right back in a day or two, but it really took me until day 5 to 'feel great.' Follow the dr. orders and baby yourself! Get someone to help you around the house and drive you around, etc. for the first four days. That helped tremendously! Tracey

Is it too early? Please help.

Hi Justin- Im 27, and probably one of the happiest people you will ever meet-I have wonderful friends, wonderful job that I love, a great family, a house, everything I would want! I didn't do the surgery just to loose weight-I did it to help me to learn how to eat properly and love my body and treat it better. I know that some of the weight will come off just by 'eating less' but some will have to be worked myself, and I am ready. Think hard about it-you are the only one who can make the decision for you-Tracey
  11. I had a lot more pain for this than I did for gall bladder four years ago. It really hurt where my stitches were. I didn't expect the insane amount of bloating, puffiness and gas. I would give my pain a 7.

    Keeping it a secret?

I told very few people. I didnt want it a big issue. My mom and brother know because I went home to stay with them after the surgery-they have been so sweet. My grandma knows because she helped me with my loan for cash pay. I have 4 friends who know, who have been crazy supportive, and my boss. I like it this way. Tracey
  13. I asked a similar question last week. I was on a liquid only diet for 14 days (over Christmas as well) and only cheated on Christmas Eve. Personally, I am so glad that I stayed as well as I did. I lost 18 lbs. in 14 days of liquids only. It cuts your abdomonial weight so much, and dr. says really helps with healing and pain. Its tough-but you can do it!
  14. great suggestion! ill try it tonight! thanks-

    kinda gross, but gotta ask...

I know I posted this on another board, but what made me feel 100 times better is sitting in a back massage chair-it pushed it right out!
  16. What has also helped so much today is sitting in a massaging chair...wow! Thats all I can say!

In PHX Looking 4 Recommendations in Mexico?

Hello! I live in Phoenix and went to the Weight Loss Institute in Tempe. Dr. Debarros and Dr. Orris were my doctors. Yes, it was a bit more expensive, but your price includes a 3 year post-op plan including personal training, 24 hour doctor support, on call dietitian, and all your fills are completely included. Only 0.2% of patients have had any types of issues including bruising, so those are amazing odds. I know its more expensive, but I was willing to pay for peace of mind and experience. Of course, this way doesn't fit everyone. Good luck with your search! Tracey

    Today was the day...

Hi Rebellerina! I was wondering how you were doing! How are you feeling? How is the pain? Be so glad that you dont have the gas-its awful! Keep me posted on how you are doing! Tracey
  19. I am day 3 post-op today. Surgery day was really rough-a lot of pain. Yesterday was better-but still a lot of pain. I took a walk, sat a lot. Really laid low. Gas is actually the worst part.
  20. My mom bought me Infant Gas Relief. I know=hilarious! It says to give a capful for a 24 lbs. infant, but it works amazing!

    kinda gross, but gotta ask...

No embarrassment! Had my surgery on Friday, and I have a ton of gas. As a joke last night, my mom bought infant gas relief drops for me to try (funny-take one capful for 24 lbs. baby...great!). WORKS LIKE A CHARM!
  22. Ok, its CHRISTMAS and im on a liquid fast. I actually skipped dinner with my family today and took a nap/bath instead, because last night, at the Christmas Eve party I cried....I have been on liquid for 11 days, and im HUNGRY! Just liquids! So, I cheated last night...and cheated really really well. It was an appetizer buffet-I had 3 potstickers, brie cheese, 2 mozzerella sticks, a taquito and 1/2 piece of Peanut Butter fudge and a truffle. First 'food' of any type in 11 days. How horrible is this, seriously? I feel SO SO guilty I can barely stand it! Surgery is Friday, Dec. 28th-3 days away..I will stay liquid like clock work til then. Should I call my dietetian and confess? Will they move back surgery? Has this caused my liver to expand too much? Will last night ruin everything I have done in the past 11 days? My BMI is 50, perfect health other than overweight.

Thank you all for your sweet comments. Cleo-Congratulations! Do you have any pain or gassy? Tracey

    Today was the day...

Thanks for the kind words! No, I didn't 'confess.' I know, bad.... But none the less, the doctor said it was one of his most uncomplicated surgeries ever! He said that it was a simple 40 minute procedure. If I had known that, I probably would have eaten more-ha! Just Kidding!:hungry: Bert99-How are you doing?
