Almost made my goal
Paul Hufnagl replied to Lynda486's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
job well done ....I'm in the same boat. i'm like 13 pounds away. congrats. -
your body will let you know, when i would drink to soon after eating i would expell the liquid. it wasn't a big deal just a learning curve. I started drinking normally about 5 to 6 weeks out. I do follow the rule of not drinking after eating and waiting at least 30 to 45 minutes. like they said previously every one is differnt.

This is more of a venting than anything else. I find being single now after I have lost alot of weight harder than before the surgery. I knew why I was single when I was heavy. I have not been on a date since loosing weight. I have tried single sites, going out dancing even trying to recruit friends at work. People tell me how well i'm doing and that I look good now but still no success. I have not always been heavy and dated plenty before I gained the weight so I know how to talk to the oppisite sex. has any one else been through this. before you say it I know.....just give it time but it still sucks.

Thank you to every one sharing your stories, I know it's probably just a matter of time but I compare it to having a new sports car (well maybe not new) after you have been driving a junker for so long, you want to get out on the road and test it out.

For soda/diet soda drinkers..
Paul Hufnagl replied to Dale P.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was telling everyone how good I was not drinking soda because of the carbination, then someone reminded me that red bull had carbination and i was adding it to vodka. I then put my soap box away. -
I normally go to starbucks to get my coffee and havn't had any problems. I decided to start brewing my own coffee at home and bought dunkin doughnuts original and can't tolerate it. I throw it up with out even finishing one cup three days in a row. The only thing i can think of is that starbucks is a darker roast and therefor has less acidity? any Ideas and has this happened to anyone else?

i had a venti christmas blend from starbucks today....no problems. I don't know why I can tolerate it with no problems but I'm not going to spend much time figuring it out. just going to stick to starbucks for now on.

What to wear to the hospital and home
Paul Hufnagl replied to Gina_baby's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
since i work at the hospital that i had the surgery at i was not going to wear a hospital gown while there. as soon as i could stand i changed into a pair of clean shorts and a tshirt. there is no reason you have to be in a gown. just wear a shirt you don't mind getting dirty because you never know what is going to stain it. I came to the hospital in shorts and left in shorts but this is southern california. -
Single Incision Scars vs. Multi-port Scars from Surgery
Paul Hufnagl replied to LAXGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
as a nurse and a patient I don't even think your going to find a surgeon that will do an open incision vs laproscopic. The risk of infection and healing are going to be much higher with a single open incision. your going to be happy with the effects from the surgery that 5 tiny barely noticable scars are not going to be a problem. -
Getting off cpap..?
Paul Hufnagl replied to jasmineinmymind's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i was diagnosed with seveare sleep apnea (bipap level 22/17) since i have lost 70 pounds since diagnosed in january. i have set my bipap to auto and then read the results on sleepyhead.com (you can watch a youtube video on the lankeyleft channel to figure it out.) the read out tells me if i had any periods of apnea. i think i'm at a mild level of 10 now. -
Stalls after surgery
Paul Hufnagl replied to Elizabeth Hiciano's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am currently on a stall myself stuck at 279 for a week now. I always stall at this weight when I have tried to lose weight in the past. I plan on maybe doing a juice fast for a day or two to get below this set point. good luck with yours. -
not only am i a nurse but also a post sleeve patient ( 5 weeks). you might find that with the weight loss, you may not have any problems with gerd any more. If the surgeon found it and didn't repair it maybe it wasn't that bad. my surgeon repaired my umbilical hernia but i didn't have a hiatal hernia. This does not have to be on the consent for surgery because it's considered an incidental find. i would say don't worry about it until it becomes something to worry about. just follow your diet and go slow.
