When does the tiredness end?
hb.mambo replied to DojiGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery May 5th, and up until the last couple of weeks I have been exhausted. It gets better every week, but I've never had so little energy. I've been incorporating more and more exercise, and that helps, but I do think this takes several months to get back to "normal" or at least a new "normal." -
Menstrual maddness!
hb.mambo replied to Lanewboricua's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had a period every couple of weeks since having my surgery in May. It's aggravating! Hoping it balances out eventually! -
Gastric Sleeve 24 hours ago...? stomach/esophageal spasms
hb.mambo replied to simonla1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every day gets better- I had the same thing for about a week, and now at week 4 I hardly remember how hard it was. -
I have had many dizzy spells since surgery on 5/5/2015- attributed to low calories, no carbs and mild dehydration. It gets better for sure, and moving into soft foods helped tremendously.

6 weeks out and having trouble getting proper fluids in
hb.mambo replied to RammerJammer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 weeks out and have a big problem with fluids. I've always drank tons of water, and now I dream of water! I try sipping but it takes me a whole day to get through 1 bottle! I definitely feel dehydrated- maybe I'll try G2. -
I am right at 3 weeks out and I am experiencing the same. I struggle with how fast I eat, but even when I work hard at going slow I struggle with this. Walking around definitely helps. I'm also struggling with fluids.

One of my horses is named Mambo- hence hb.mambo! -
What's the first food you cheated with after Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
hb.mambo replied to NoBsVs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm glad you posted this. My first cheat was a bite of cookie- more mindless eating than intentional if that makes sense. But since then I've had a small bite of bacon and started mushy foods a few days early. -
I am feeling the same. Read on another post someone is walking 4-5 miles a day. I was crazy active prior to this surgery, so this is a big hit. Going to get out and walk my dog this morning to seeing moving creates energy. Good luck to you!

I am also an equestrian, and this is the biggest reason why I had my surgery. I love that my horse will get to carry less of me . -
May Sleevers...where are you?
hb.mambo replied to bvenegas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in the same boat day of surgery- the my did mine regardless and even said it was better for me that I was coughing! Hope it went well! -
It's like CHOOSING to GET pregnant!? LOW BMI-er here
hb.mambo replied to tnkrrbl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had the surgery done with a starting BMI of 31- am 5'8" and weighed 212. And I'm only 2.5 weeks out and have lost 18lbs. I don't love this yet, but I already notice differences in how I feel. I've never been an inactive person- I ride horses and spend lots of time in the gym. I can't wait to go to a horse show now and not have little aches and pains from the extra weight; or go to the gym and finally "look" like I'm there as often as I am. I know this will change many things about me and my good friend food, but that's what I want- I need less of it!! This is hard- and I've had many a moment over the last couple of weeks that I have wondered what I was thinking, but those moments are getting fewer, and eventually I'll be thrilled. That's what I'm focused on! For me, it's worth it, and knowing that I've given myself the chance to not go up and down constantly with my weight is such a relief! -
Any other sleeves done around 5/12/15
hb.mambo replied to kmagno's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was sleeved on 5/5/2015- the first 2 weeks I struggled a lot with some emotional ties to mealtime- which made me think I was hungry. This week has been easier - I have been focusing on chewing gum when I think I need to chew, and getting more water, and I feel more settled about not having a big meal. There is such a social aspect to meals in our family, and I started with the feeling that the social time was over, but now I see that isn't changing. I can have my broth just the same as I ate the meal before. I think it will all get much easier when actual food can be eaten. This is so hard, but will be so worth it - and after a couple weeks, I feel better about the decision. I'm down 18lbs now. -
Did you go to the hospital? Hope you are feeling better. It took me two days before I quit feeling so bad. The day after I did not get all my protein- just focused on water.

How soon after post op do you start strenous exercise?
hb.mambo replied to djay210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never been so exhausted, nor I have I ever spent an evening on the couch until now. Hoping that with the next stage of eating comes a bit more energy. Caffeine withdrawal doesn't help either! -
Yeah I have no doubt that I had a dumping episode, so I'm on the "it can happen with a sleeve" bandwagon.

One week post op- went to a client site today where I sipped Isopure all day. Client brought in lunch- I sipped my Isopure. Meeting ended 2 hours late, got stuck in traffic, went way too long without my broth, got home, was warming up my broth and my son had a leftover cookie on the counter and I took a fairly big bite, chewed it up and swallowed it, then thought, "Oh crap, I'm an idiot." Please tell me I'm not the only one that does something this stupid? I don't think I'll make this mistake again- my tummy is not happy.

Made an over-hungry bad decision
hb.mambo replied to hb.mambo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a lot of cravings- I'm not starving necessarily, but when I smell dinner, I just want so much to have a bite. I'm doing good, but there's an emotional aspect to it I wasn't expecting. -
How soon after post op do you start strenous exercise?
hb.mambo replied to djay210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I couldn't do a strenuous workout right now if I had to. I'm only getting 300 calories a day- 13 days out, and that's barely enough to get me through the day. -
I have the same thing- I'm attributing it to ketosis.
-
No one is the same- if you really drilled into everyone's diet and what they are able to eat or not eat--completely different. This is your ride, and don't let anyone make you feel like you should be on their ride!

I had it today when I ran out of sugar free juice and thought the Orange juice sounded good. Nope, OJ has too much sugar in it. Lots of diarrhea.
-
I'm in the same boat. I've had many moments of thinking that I wasn't so fat, why did I do this to myself? I remember I once thought it odd that there would be support groups for this. What was I thinking? Now I get it. This is tough. Anyone who says it's the easy way out needs a rude awakening. I got mine on 5/5/2015 and all I can think about is how FAR away the soft foods are. 10 more long days.

So very sorry for your loss. -
May Sleevers...where are you?
hb.mambo replied to bvenegas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine May 5th as well. Going great- tired of liquids lol, using Isopure to get the protein in, and struggling with energy some, but I'm sure after years of constant motion my body is happy for a break!
