About Me

  • Gender
    Female
  1. I had my surgery May 5th, and up until the last couple of weeks I have been exhausted. It gets better every week, but I've never had so little energy. I've been incorporating more and more exercise, and that helps, but I do think this takes several months to get back to "normal" or at least a new "normal."

    Menstrual maddness!

I've had a period every couple of weeks since having my surgery in May. It's aggravating! Hoping it balances out eventually!
  3. Every day gets better- I had the same thing for about a week, and now at week 4 I hardly remember how hard it was.

    Dizzy

I have had many dizzy spells since surgery on 5/5/2015- attributed to low calories, no carbs and mild dehydration. It gets better for sure, and moving into soft foods helped tremendously.
  5. I'm 3 weeks out and have a big problem with fluids. I've always drank tons of water, and now I dream of water! I try sipping but it takes me a whole day to get through 1 bottle! I definitely feel dehydrated- maybe I'll try G2.

    Stuck in throat

I am right at 3 weeks out and I am experiencing the same. I struggle with how fast I eat, but even when I work hard at going slow I struggle with this. Walking around definitely helps. I'm also struggling with fluids.
  7. One of my horses is named Mambo- hence hb.mambo!
  8. I'm glad you posted this. My first cheat was a bite of cookie- more mindless eating than intentional if that makes sense. But since then I've had a small bite of bacon and started mushy foods a few days early.

    Exhaustion

I am feeling the same. Read on another post someone is walking 4-5 miles a day. I was crazy active prior to this surgery, so this is a big hit. Going to get out and walk my dog this morning to seeing moving creates energy. Good luck to you!
  10. I am also an equestrian, and this is the biggest reason why I had my surgery. I love that my horse will get to carry less of me .
  11. I was in the same boat day of surgery- the my did mine regardless and even said it was better for me that I was coughing! Hope it went well!
  12. I had the surgery done with a starting BMI of 31- am 5'8" and weighed 212. And I'm only 2.5 weeks out and have lost 18lbs. I don't love this yet, but I already notice differences in how I feel. I've never been an inactive person- I ride horses and spend lots of time in the gym. I can't wait to go to a horse show now and not have little aches and pains from the extra weight; or go to the gym and finally "look" like I'm there as often as I am. I know this will change many things about me and my good friend food, but that's what I want- I need less of it!! This is hard- and I've had many a moment over the last couple of weeks that I have wondered what I was thinking, but those moments are getting fewer, and eventually I'll be thrilled. That's what I'm focused on! For me, it's worth it, and knowing that I've given myself the chance to not go up and down constantly with my weight is such a relief!
  13. I was sleeved on 5/5/2015- the first 2 weeks I struggled a lot with some emotional ties to mealtime- which made me think I was hungry. This week has been easier - I have been focusing on chewing gum when I think I need to chew, and getting more water, and I feel more settled about not having a big meal. There is such a social aspect to meals in our family, and I started with the feeling that the social time was over, but now I see that isn't changing. I can have my broth just the same as I ate the meal before. I think it will all get much easier when actual food can be eaten. This is so hard, but will be so worth it - and after a couple weeks, I feel better about the decision. I'm down 18lbs now.

    Dumping Syndrome

Did you go to the hospital? Hope you are feeling better. It took me two days before I quit feeling so bad. The day after I did not get all my protein- just focused on water.
  15. I've never been so exhausted, nor I have I ever spent an evening on the couch until now. Hoping that with the next stage of eating comes a bit more energy. Caffeine withdrawal doesn't help either!
