Hi There, I too was suffering the same as you at one time. You stated " I could not sleep with the fluid just coming up or felling like I was choking at night as I tried to sleep. I now sleep with my head raised on my pillow, what products do you use? " My FP prescribed me Prilosec for heartburn. It did help alot at times some. When I had my regular checkin with my Lapband dr. I told him of my symtoms. He removed some fulid and told me to stop taking the Prilosec. For my being over filled was causing the same symtoms you are describing. Yeah, I lost the weight, but at what cost. Not eating, PBing and the burning sensation in my chest was not worth it. So, you may want to reconsider getting some of the fluid removed. And yes, you will get there as we all will. Remember, this is only a tool we have to use it properly.

This Makes 5 Years....we Should Be Excited Right?!?
Whitepants replied to tammyj's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I envy you at having reached your goal weight. And I agree with you, about still needing the band to keep and maintain your weight. For without the band we'd be back to where we started almost. To bad they don't understand the need for the band still. Maybe they need to go to some of the WLS session to get a better understanding of the bands' need. But, I know for sure, that I have learned a lot about my eating habits and what makes a healthy eating style. For I know what I will need to do to keep the weight off. I recently just had a fill after 8 months of trying to go it alone. So, Friday coming I'm going in for another fill. I hope the dr. will agree with me. Well, continue doing what you know is best for you. Keep us informed. Thanks. -

Hey Tammyj, glad to hear all is well with you after your surgery. Sometimes things come to light that may have well stayed hidden. It seems like you may not of been aware that you had a hernia. Had your band not have slipped, it may not been found and would of given you serious issues. But, you're back on the way to losing weight again. You'll be at your goal weight in a few months. Then onto maintaining your weight. I know what it's like to lose that 100 lbs. But didn't keep it off for long. So, good luck and keep us updated about your second time around. -
Hi, just don't give up on reaching your sweet spot as they say. As you know, it will take several fills to get to that spot. I took several for me.

Hi, glad to see some familiar faces and names. Just stopping by and I'll be back to update on my journey. Good luck and don't give up. -
Has it really been 4 years? It's hard to believe we've come so far from each of our starting points. Each of us has had setbacks and success in this journey. We've shared our stories and have gotten support and given support to each other. Although we may not come back as often as we would like, but when we do it's as if we didn't miss a beat. I too am 20lbs from goal right now. I still sabortage myself when I get within 5 - 10 lbs of goal. But I have not given up hope that one day I'll get there and so have you. Ms. Husker, go to this website, Eat Right 4 Your Type. com. And if you can get the book, by Peter D'Adamo from the library. This book is about health by your blood type. I started reading it after reading his Geno-Type Diet. I find both were very helpful in relation to some of my health issues. I'm going to get his cookbook although there are a lot, and I mean alot of recipes on his website. My testimony to his book was when I wanted to go vegetarian for the new year. I started eating bean for morning snack and eating the alternative meat products. 2/3 weeks into this and I was having trouble raising my left arm. I had already began cutting out the Beans and meat alternatives. But in reading his book and reviewing my history of foods I've eaten, I saw a pattern I had set for myself. I'll stop here, but try and get the Eat Right 4 Your Type and incorporate some of your blood type into your daily living. By reading his book, I realized I am wheat and gluten intolerant. Not that I can't eat it, but should eliminate, avoid and or limit it in my diet. Along with some foods that has been causing my health problems. It's too early to tell if I see and feel a difference, but I'm going to give it a 30 day trial according to his cookbook. Well, I'll stop here this is a long winded one. Let me know if you decided to get the book. This goes also to others as well.

That's great to hear. Your Mom helping you out with a trainer. And 8 sessions, and what you have lined up, sound like you're off to a good start. My daughter who is not working also, is using this time like you to lose weight. She registered at the college to take some classe and have access to the gym. And it's working out for her. So, keep up the good work and with the portion control as well as your Protein intake. And come back, even if only you and I post. Okay, take care till you next post.

Hey Jeni. I understand about not coming back cause you haven't lose and not kinda fallen a bit. But, you did come back. So, to me you will start again and get back on track. Yeah, it'll take some time, but you push till something happens. I too just got back on track. You said you just got laid off. That's even harder. Not much movement if you just stay home and do nothing. I want to suggest this website and products. I'm using it again and seeing much results and have seen the testimony of some people who have used them. Herbalife.com. The Core Product is expensive when your funds is low. So was mine when I bought it. Or if you can just purchase the Formula 1 that's a start. Just read up on all the products there is something that'll help. You already know what to do as far as, what to eat and your portion control... Do you have a food scale? I still tell people that's what started me in controlling my portion amount. Come back we understand what you're going thru for we are going thru it ourselves. Hey, when you start using the products and see your own results, you may become a distritutor and sell to your family and friends. If not, like me just get the products at a discount. Come back on. Even if you only read the post of others. Just don't stay away so long. We could of motivated you to get back on track. Maybe that is why other and I at times don't post. Well, let me know what is working for you.

I really appreciate you sharing you ill with the group. Hope your motivation returns by time you post again. The good weather is coming and it should meet you all ready for what it has to offer. Take care...

Panic over the stupidest thing......

Hi, this is just one more phase you're going to be going thru. As they say, been there; done that. Just go into any store and try on their size 16. I still shop in Ashley Stewart and the Avenue, depending on the cut of the pants. Also, named designers, I get them when their on sale, all this is depending on how much you'll willing to payr for their pants/suits. The cut on their pants is constant. You'll be able to go pickup their pants and know it's going to fit. Good Luck and congrats on your weight loss and conintuing till you reach your weight goal. -

Hi All, glad to see someone returned and started the thread. It's not a March thread but still. I'll try to setup a March thread and post. This is the new thread. Hope I've done it right. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/126138-is-it-really-4-years-wow/

Well, we're about to close out another year. What are we thankful for as we close it out?

I choose my goal weight by by two different things. First, I had a pair of white pants that I've been wanting to get back into for the last 20+ years. I did get into them for my birthday. Second, I decided tha 175lbs would be my goal weight. I feel for some reason I was at my best weight then. So I made 175lbs my goal weight to be and stay at.

Hi All, just checking in. I've just come to the realization that I'm a little depressed. Can't seem to concentrate to lose these last pounds. I keep telling myself I'm going to start back to excerising and don't. I so want a buddy partner that I've posted on several websites for one. You would think that someone would answer since they themselves say they're looking for a partner. How serious can they be. Well, I've gained back those 8lbs I lost over the last few weeks. So, I'm back to wanting to lose 20lbs before the end of the year. Just barely staying in my clothes now. Don't want to shop for the next size to get into to wear. If I do, then it may be over for me for a while. I keep using my teenage daughter as an excuse not to go to the gym. She likes when I'm home when she comes in. And if she comes in before 8pm, I'l at the gym. So, I have to buck up and do this. Once I get back into the swing of things I'm good for about 3 months maybe 4/5. But like everything I have to start first. Well, that's all for me now. Hope you're doing well. Miss you all.

Hi All, just checking in. Haven't done bad since my last post. Just can't seem to break that 185lb loss. Back to 190lbs, making it abgain 15lbs to lose. Well, as long as I don't out weigh my new clothes, I'm good. Hope you'll come back in December to log any results you have. Take care....

Does anyone live in NY and have Hip
Whitepants replied to BronxBeba721's topic in Insurance & Financing
Hi, Future Fellow Bandster. I have HIP and went thru my family physician. I told her which weight loss surgery I preferred, therefore she referred me for the lapband. I was approved within 30 days after asking about it and had my surgery 30 days after that. When you have been accepted into the HIP Program, inform your doctor that you are interested in bariatric surgery. But first I strongly suggest you do your research before your appointment. There is something to the be informed when you talk to your doctor. By now you should be aware of the different types of weight loss surgery. This site here Lapband Talk can give you some insight into it. Your doctor may suggest one thing depending upon your health issues. i.e. current weight, high blood presssure, diabetic, cholesterol, sleep apenea etc. While you may want another procedure. You'll need to go through a serious of tests, medical, psychologist, physical and blood the usual. Also, it's best to go to a few support group meetings. This way you'll hear the pros and cons of people who have had the surgery. It's very, very helpful in making that decision. You'll need to remember this is a life long adventure you're about to take on. And if you're not mentally ready to make the scarfice then do not put yourself thru it and say the surgery failed. The surgery is only a tool to assist and help you loss weight. You must strongly do your part and be dedicated in this. Also, go to some of the threads in which people have banded by month and year of their surgery. Some threads are by situation and issues. These are very helpful and supportive. Well I hope some of ths was helpful and come on board. I had my surgery in March/2007 and have lost 100+ pounds. I am not sorry I made this decision. Although you will want to loss this weight overnight the course of a few months, it won't work that way. Take this low and you'll be alright. Some of the issues you will go thru the ups and downs the successful times and the not successful times are all part of the journey. This is a word you'll hear a lot on this site. 'Journey". You're not alone in this. Well, I'll stop here this is a lot to read at one time. You're get a lot of advice from here on. You just have to sift through them all and take what will work for you. I'll come back from time to time to read up on your progress and decision. Please keep in touch, for I haven't found anyone on here willing to be a buddy with anyone. Maybe we can if it's okay with you of course. Have a great day and be Thankful for those in your life. -
I had my Lapband since March/2007; I am close to goal weight, yet I keep sabortaging myself when I get to the last 10lbs. I need someone to help get and keep me on track. I also would like to be someone's motivator and support person as well. I live in the New York City area as well as work. I so look forward to meeting someone to go along this journey with. Only someone going thru and experiencing what you are can relate to you. Looking forward to hear from anyone.

Hi Everyone. I'm reading that we're all want to have a support group among those on this thread. But, someone needs to take the lead. I'm not much of a leader but I would like to get this started. Let me know if you would like to get together this month. Then we can narrow it down to a location, date and time. I've seen so many sites start and fizz out before it gets started. This is something we need to be committed to. For some of us do not have family or friends that are experiencing what we're going through. Please respond back here or by private message here. I'm looking forward to responses.

Hi Everyone, I started this thread and didn't post what I'm Thankful for. Mine is my love of God and My Faith and Trust In Him. There have been some many times these last few months that I have needed financial help. He has brought me through each and every challenge that have come my way. Next my continued Health. Through my ups and downs with this weight loss journey, he has helped keep me from going back to whence I came from. Even though I wanted to be at my weight goal from day one, my journey this far has taught me a lot. I and you are still learning but we will never, never give up. As the caption you've all seen, "We Are Still A Work In Progress". So, with that said, we're still here and we still have a lot to learn on our way to our weight goal. I know I do. Luv to you all and good health.

Hi All, just finding this site. Has anyone tried to and met up with other on this thread yet? Maybe some of us can and become our own support group. I live and work in Manhattan. How about you? Haven't done so bad so far.
