Hi Everyone, just finished reading up on past posts. I'd like to thank all for their words of my lose. Thought of him in the way to Flordia. He would of loved it. Especially if we had to drive there. He loves long distance driving. I had a ball and enjoyed the visit w/ my brother and his wife. Juli, we were in Flordia at about the same time. We went to Disney World/Magic Kingdom and the Kennedy Space Center. Had I logged on at that time we might of been able to meet. I would of liked that. Meeting an onliine buddy. SlikChik10, I have not had any issues w/ fish, per say, but if you are eating foods that has spicy and hot with seasonings on it, that may of caused the problems you've had. Those spices irrate the esphogaus and may also cause you to PB. I learned that the HARD WAY,VERY HARD WAY. Any bit of spicy seasoning now triggers a PB to happen. So pay close attention to how it's seasoned. Janine-please stay here too. I would relish any past and current info from anyone who has gone through what you have. And good luck in your new band. Some things are better the second time around. Hope it's for you too. Now you can side track all the wrong things and ways of what not to do w/ the band. Good Luck. Rosi - I too feel as you did when I don't logon and always feel I'm missing out on good tips and help. But, when I get back to logging I feel great and fully inspired by those that have lost more weight and found out new things about themselves and share openingly. Jeni - hope you're enjoying your self and your new found health. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. But you can share w/ us. We won't tell. LOL Congrats to all those that finished their school year and summer school. I envy you for going to school. I'm still threatening to do so. And those for passing your exams. Well, I'll stop for now for I feel so blessed for being able to talk and share experiences with you. I'll be increasing my exercise routine this year. I think exercising is helping to keep our skin from sagging and hanging more that it would if we were not. So, that's my incentative to exercise more. Good nite all. God Bless.

I'm taking a new outlook on life. Last Friday I found out that a former boyfriend of mine died. He was 55yrs. Just had both hips replaced, which of course, gained weight due a lack of movement and exercise. We were still in contact w/ each other for well over 13 years. Always joking about getting together again for one last roll in the hay. Like I said we've been going on like this for over 13 years. He knew I was losing weight and wanted to see how much. Wanting to make sure his favorite body parts is still there. Needless to say, I never got around to seeing him. That always, I'll do it tomorrow or later. So, of course I can't do it now. I was and still angry, mad and pissed with him for dieing. Like he or I could of stopped it. He was my only and I mean only male friend I have. Sure I still talk to the kids father, but not like I could talk to him. No matter how many other females he had, we still talked. Well, I could go on and on but I'll stop here. I"m leaving for Florida in 45 mins. Just wanted to stop by and say hi and I'll post when I return. Now I get to test my restrauant skills. I've gotten back on the road to losing weight again and just lost another two pounds. Wish me luck in maintaining and control over what and how much I eat. Love to all and hope to read good things from you.

Just checking in and see that all is coming into play for some. Jeni - glad to see you have a positive attitude about your recovery. Now you can reflect on what you've accomplished and use your new fills as if being filled for the first time and lose your remaing weight to meet your weight goal. (excuse the run on sentence. I didn't want to lose my train of thought.) Texas - I'll add you to my prayers along w/ my daughter to pass her classes as well. Good Luck. To everone else keep up the good work. Looking to read good resluts from all and do more posting.

Just wanted to say Hi to everyone and to let you know I'v been thinking of you all. I've been keeping up w/ all of the ups and downs of everyone, but just couldn't lend any encouragements or helpful advice to you. I've been having my own issues and just didn't see how I can help anyone else and not help myself. But I've managed to still lose weight and increase my exercises. This has kept my stress level down and my eating under control. Execpt when the weekends come. Like today, I allowed it to get out of control. My PBing has stopped. I was overly tight and the band has recently loosened up. It's good that it did for I can only see the doctor w/ referrals now. This restriction will have to last me till December, if I can't get a referral anytime soon. I say December for I may need another fill by then. Also, by that time I hope to of reached my goal of 155lbs. So, everyone keep up the good work and your doctor's appts. Another 8 months and we will be celebrating our 2 year anniversary. With all of us at our goal weight. Be Strong and Think Strong.

Good Morning Everyone, I'm to see the dr. on 6/19, and will let him know what's going on. At first he just told me to watch what I'm eating and to chew small bites and chew well. I thought about gettig an unfill several times. So depending on what he suggests, I'll just continue w/ this. I also was prescribed heartburn medication, but didn't want to take another medication. So I opted for the beano and papaya combination. It rained here in New York. Only in one of the 5 boroughs and the rain was well welcomed. Jeni, I don't know of any w/ your problem. So go to old faithfull, the Internet and read up on it. Well, everyone have a positive week.

Hi All, just reporting in. Just want to share something I've discovered for myself. Regarding the PB, what I've started doing now is taking two Beano pills and 4 Papaya pills along w/ a glass of warm Water in the mornings. This allows me to be able to eat Breakfast without too much difficulty. But when it comes to lunch and dinner I don't experience that tightness in my chest anymore. And I can eat my meals in one sitting. I still wait for any reactions but so far, for the last week I've had none. As for my suggestion about the Soup, it depends of several factors. 1. if the soup is served in a small/ cup size bowl, 2. depending on the soup, it's consistency (from thick to broth) and what's in it, 3. it usually comes before the appetizers (it's already prepared, just scoop and in the bowl). Giving you time to get the sensation of becoming full. I ordered a broccoli cheese soup which was very thick and when the meal arrived, I was only able to eat part of it. And of course took the balance home. So, now that everyone is returning online, we can once again boost one another to get into the swing of things. I'm enjoying my step dance more now that I can keep up w/ the class. Next I want to get back into working w/ the gym's trainer. She has us working w/ everything. Weights, barbell, balls, and the machines. Anywhere from 30min to an hour. If you don't do the bike or treadmill before than, you won't after the workout. So, that care of yourselves and get as much exercise in over the weekend. Eat plenty of fruits. Even make a fruit salad.

Hi All, glad to see we're seeing the light of way. Recognizing where we slacked off, need to retrain and correct our way of eating and jump starting our exercising. Although we may not be losing at a rate we would like, our weight gain or plateau is not permanant. Some times we just need to step back and regroup. Like we're doing now. I too am getting back into exercising. I lost 1" off my hips since I started step aerobics two weeks ago. So, that's incentative enough for me. Now that I've stopped eating spicy and hot foods, I'm able to eat regular meals again. Before, while waiting to get back to normal eating, I was just barely getting in two meals a day. Breakfast not really being one of them. And lunch taking almost 3 hours to get down and dinner just enough to say I'm having something to eat. Rosi, this is a good time to test out your restraurant savvy. 1. Following Carol's advice, and try not to go to long between eating your meals. 2. Maybe eating appetizers, opposed to a full meal maybe, wrong word, WILL get you by. 3. Eating Soup before your meal. And walk as much as possible, also if you're staying in a hotel access their gym or just do exercise in your room before you leave for the day. See if you can access a fitness channel on tv and do them. You can do them while you hubby is taking his shower. You'll think of something. Make us Proud. Let's hear how everyone intends to Jump Start their June overhaul. Let's work on being vain and hear those "OH!, you look so good, you really look great". I know I am. I want my props for my hard work. Don't you? Let's Go Gurls....

Hi All, just checking in also. demsvmejm, have you been keeping a food diary lately? Why not make an appt. w/ you nutritionist/dietatician, to come up w/ a new meal program for you. Maybe it's something you're eating now that didn't bother you before to bring on your mood swings. And are you taking Vitamins or supplement? You may be taking something to interfer w/ you medication. And we all know that stress can hamper our weight loss as well as other problems. I can't put my finger on it either but I've just come off a eating binge. Since I became able to eat regularly after my spicy food binge. Then when my pants became tight on me again, and that's when I got back to the gym. So far I've started losing again. Maybe you're about to come off your plateau. Maybe getting back into exercising you'll lose weight now. We all seemed to be in sync about becoming to lack w/ our band and not doing the right things w/ it. Almost like a house full of women, menstrating in sync w/ each other. Well if that's the case we should all be getting back into eating right and exercising. Let's get to it. Now is not the time to take self pity. Let's put this setback behind us and get moving forward. In April we we're on a up swing, May started slacking off, now that June is just a few days away, it it not meet us in a slump. What's our motto for May? magnificent Marchies I May? Let's let's jump into June with both feet.

Hi All, just stopping in to see how everyone's doing. Kinda slow right now, but know it will pick up soon. I'm now convinced that even a little bit of spicy foods will give me issues. I only had a small amount of jalapeno seasoned diced tomatoes. Although it was for a few days. Well, Friday, it took hold of me and lasted from 12:30 till 5:00pm. Only began to subside when I began walking around. Today, Monday, I had that stuck feeling all day. Was only able to eat one bite of anything, just to have something in my system. And that wasn't much. So, no more spicy - hot foods for me. To start back at the gym tomorrow. The first gym I was going to has two step classes. One is step dance, the second is step aerobics. I like them and stay for both. Or I may take class w/ the gym trainer and one step class. So, I'll be at the gym 3 - 4 days of the week. This is the least I can do for myself, since my daughter doesn't get home till after 8pm. That's pretty much the same time I leave the gym. Well, hope all is well with you and your family. Especially those who've are taking or taken the final exams. Good Luck.

Hi All, I have not forgotten the band gang. Back to sharing the computer w/ my daughter. Right now she's not home and I've just come back from the gym. I too am getting back into the gym. I'm back at my old gym from where I started. Today I jogged for all of 30 seconds. That may not seem like a big deal, but to me it was. That's the first time I've tried it and it was at 3.7. I'm so proud of myself. I'll try for 30 - 45 next time. I also see that the 6pm - 7pm step class is still going on. And now from 7pm - 8pm, there's a step aerobics class w/ the barbell and weights. I'll be heading to that gym more now. Just needed to get a boost or new routine going. I was losing it w/ doing the same thing and no partner to keep me moving or challenge me. So, when everyone returns they have something new they've added to their routine to kick start them again. Well see you all soon.

WOW! You must of been at a good restriction for popcorn to get stuck. You're the first I've heard of anything getting stuck like that. I would not of thought that could of happened. It's great that you sort help. I could only imagine if you tried to continue to eat regularly. How long did it take before you decided to go to the doctor? I'm imagining after a few days of not being able to eat properly.

Hello All, I would like to add another reason to this. If you eat hot and spicy foods to much in a small time frame, you will inflame or irratite your esophagus, stoma, area around the band and stomach. This recently happened to me. I was on a hot and spicy binge. After several weeks of this it finally took it's toll. I had stopped eating hot and spicy foods, for bathroom reasons. I PB for several weeks after this, every sense of it. By stopping eating hot and spicy foods, my stomach began to heal/settle down. It was the most horrible experience of banding I've experienced yet. All that time I thought I had gotten too tight after my fill. Thank God for sites like LapBandTalk. I was reading about inflammed stomach area and realized that that was what my problem was. Not being to tight. So of course this is another lesson I've learned and something else to stay away from. Hope this helps someone who eats hot and spicy foods.

How often do you PB?
Whitepants replied to lins12's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Good Morning To all. I just want to share with everyone something I just learned. I like hot and spicy foods. Last month for several weeks I couldn't get enough of hot and spicy foods. This went on for several weeks. Until it took it's toll on me. As the weeks went on my PBing kept getting worse and worse, giving me the impression that my band was to tight/restriction to tight. When I read on this site or another site about inflammed/ senstitive/ irritated stomach/stoma interferring with digestion and eatng of my food. With each meal there was more pain and pbing than before. Which sometimes I couldn't finish my meal till 30min to 1 hour later. It got to the point that I was afraid to eat. So I decided to let up on eating too often and taking to dring protein drinks and broth or soup. In doing this I cut back on the spicy foods. I began taking the Papaya Enzyme pills and drinking warm liquids prior to my morning meal and sometimes lunch. Along with eating something to help with digestion. After a week or more of not eating spicy foods, the irratition stop and my stomach/stoma began to heal itself. When I did get back to regular eating the problem stopped and I am now able to eat my meals without too much problems. Say that to say this, if you eat hot spicy foods beware of what happens the next day or several days after. You may not have tight restriction, but may have irritated your digestive system, stomach or stoma. Remember the stoma only holds but so much food before it passes the band into the stomach. Which of course has to pass the esphogus first. Hope this bit of info has helped someone. This Site is great for learning things. -
Good Morning to Everyonne. Juli, congrats on finishing your trek. Glad you were very excited about doing it as well as finishing it. Where is the link to see you.

Hi All, I'm glad my hot and spicy food story was able to help someone. After all that's what this site is for. To help inform and get informed. I too am close to gettting to my next goal weight of 200 lbs. I'm looking forward to it for if I stay on track, I'll hit it for my Birthday. My gift to me... I am both anxious and scared. Juli, the 100 mile bike journey you're taking. Is that the one you were talking about last year? Good Luck with it. ....TEXAS, is it too early to have this surgery done now? You're still losing weight and will lose more. demsvmejmgkeyt & - great for getting back on track. And great about getting that much exercise in for one week. I only have the gym to rely on. Exercise classes and the gym. So most of my exercises rely on indoor activities. Or the occasional walk 3 to 4 mile walk home from work. But just as we all get it in. Have good weekend and Stay The Course.

Hi Everyone, glad we're all finding time to come on and login. We have much to share and goals to tell. I would really want to share this. I may have figured out why I was having trouble eating these last 2-3 weeks. And I want you to pay close attention to what you eat. I'm a fan of hot and spicy foods. Already knowing I should not eat my meals too spicy and hot. Well, I've been adding hot peppers, black pepper, an African hot pepper paste, curry, crushed red peppers and red hot pepper grandules. This was with each meal for those weeks. Well, I was on another lapband thread or maybe even this site and someone mentioned inflammed stomach. Inflammed stomaches interferring with the digestion process and and band making the stomach/stoma sentative to anything trying to pass through. Well, after having bathroom issues, which caused me to stop eating spicy and hot foods, my system calmed down and began to heal. (I'll not go into details here, but if you've eaten to much hot spicy foods, you know what I mean). After not having anything spicy and hot foods for more than a week I'm able to eat my meals without any, too much problems. I'm still drinking something warm and taking the papaya enzyme pills prior to my first meal, Breakfast. Then I'm okay for the balance of the day. I also try to eat something about 30 minutes before to have it pave the way for my meal. Eating small bites and chew and chew and chew well. When I swallow wait for that mouthful to pass through and take another bite. And all this time I was thinking I was too tight at this time. Maybe yes, maybe no. I also found out that I cannot any longer eat sandwiches, or crunchy things, like chips, peanuts and some hard crackers. Well, thought I would share this.

Hi tammyj, you're right we are all working out hard. I just finished over 5 hours of gym time since the 1st of May. I'm down to 221lbs now. I'm only a losing streak at the moment. So I need to work hard and try and lose all I can before I stop. You may want to go back to the April thread and post the new one. This way no one else will start up a new thread. Everyone should be logging on this week.

Hi All, I to am wondering if I will ever have this under control. Since we are in are second year, how much more will be learn. The restriction I'm at now, will probably hold me till the end of the year. From how I'm feeling, I don't think I'll need another fill for quite some time. My last appt. last week, the dr. said that I'm at a good restirction now. Especially when I told him I can't eat chips any more without some issues. He said food like that and crackers will add weight and help undo what I'm trying to accompish. When everyone go for their next visit, there may be a chart in the dr's office to show where you are with your restrction. I'm between the 2nd and thrid restriction area. Which is good for I'm closer to be at the best restriction for me. Yesterday I had my third restrauant meal. It was better than the first, which almost sent me gagging. The second, which wasn't a challenging meal, it was a fondue meal. Yesterday, was and I eyeballed the portion size well, and it all fit nicely on the bread plate. Grilled salmon, greens and mac & cheese. After eating the salmon I wanted more, but I hadn't eaten the veggies and carb yet. After eating the veggies I began to fill full. Then ate the mac & cheese and was glad I didn't take any more fish. Get this, I couldn't finish the mac & cheese, that same old feeling, that familiar feeling started. After letting that feeling pass, although I shouldn't of I finished the mac & cheese. That portion I finished was the portion that gave me trouble getting onto my plate. Did I miss the sign or not? But, to help I had a cup of tea, took 3 papaya pills and eat the corn muffin first. Once again Mrs. Husker, thanks for that piece of advice. Also, Juli, I did my first mini, and I mean mini walk. I walked first 3 miles home. Couldn't make that last mile. Then walked the 4 miles home. But, there is something you seasoned runners, forgot to tell use beginners, that your legs and knees will let you know, they're not used to that much walking for that long a distance and at a steady pace. But, I plan to do this at least once a week weather permitting, especially for now. So......How's everyone else doing? Fine and I hope fine as well.

jenlev67; by all means, yes, report. Especially since she a witness to this abuse. There are time when it's not what you say, but how you say it. And for you to still be osbessing over this is not good for you. It's bad enough you're having to deal with losing the weight steadly. And if this is her way of scaring you to take this surgery more seriously, it's not the way to go. If you are the first she has done this to, there will be others. If you don't do something or ask for someone else, and there may not be, you'll be tense and harbor an intense dislike for her. Either verbally mention this or in writing, this behavior needs to be brought to the attention of the administration office. Even if she was having a bad day, those statements were out of line. And she, a person dealing with such a populaton as ours. Or any others as well. But, on the up swing, it sure got you to lose those pounds. Keep up the good work and Stay The Course.

Hi All, lot of busy work going on. Glad you have time to stop by and share your results. Hope they're good ones. I myself am still having trouble getting food down. Can't seem to time it at which meal will be the troublesome meal. Nor what food will give me problems to eat/digest. Tomorrow is my dr's appt. May get a little unfill. .1 or .2. Not .3 for that is the amount that was put in last time, to get me where I am now. I did find that chewing something crunchy, like crackers/cookies, kept the gas out of my stomach. So I was able to eat w/ no trouble. Since I only just discovered this out, this week,i t's not a tried and true fact. Slikchik10, one step at a time, one pound at a time. It'll take time but you'll be there. So, hope things are well at home and school. Good Nite.

Hello Everyone, hope your weekend is a good one. Much will power needed to stay focused these next few days.. I'm still learning about this restriction thing. Yesterday and today I was able to eat without any problems. The food went down much easier. So, I may be experiencing the tight and not tight feeling. But, I'm trying to figure out what causes these tight and not tight days. I thought with the loss of weight the band would get looser, 'cause the stomach is shrinking, which would cause the stoma to shrink also. Any thoughts or ideas? Due to these tight days and not eating well this week I lost 4 lbs. Was able to get to exercise 4x this week. Good for me, but didn't get in much nutrients this week. Some days I was only able to get in two meals. And they weren't much, very little breakfast and lunch. dinner some nights was only toast and that took almost and hour to eat. Or it was for breakfast the next day. Well, hope your meals were better than mines this week.

Hi Everyone, Hungry4help, I called today regarding the group meeting. I totally forgot that the meetings were changed to every 3rd Thursday. I didn't reset my calendar for the new time. The next meeting is May 15th. Hope you made it after all and hope to see you and Thenume at the next meeting.
