    PLICTATION TIJUANA ANYONE?

Best decision I ever made having Dr Lopez do my plication. I am 63 and having most of my stomach removed was not something I wanted. Recovery was really quick, I could have gone back to work on Wednesday, surgery was Saturday evening, came home on Tuesday, but I had vacation to take so I stayed off the rest of the week. There are some foods I don't tolerate well anymore - fish and pork - but other than that I can eat just about anything I want, but only around 4-6 oz. Follow whatever your Dr's advice and you will be fine. If you are going thru Bariatric Pal, they will take good care of you.
  2. I too have BCBS from a state different than where I live, because our home offices are in TN. Their requirement was 6 months of weight-loss counseling before they would even consider paying for my WLS and there was no guarantee they would pay for it even then. I wanted the least invasive surgery possible which was Gastric Plication, which is NOT covered by any US insurance. Even if I had gone for the Gastric Sleeve and BCBS covered it, I would have paid over 3k more, to have a surgery I didn't really want, than I paid going to Mexico. Dr Juan Lopez thru BariatricPal was my surgeon in Tijuana. I could not have chosen a better Dr. He actually listened to and accepted my reasons for wanting the Gastric Plication rather than the sleeve. Surgery was flawless as was the care I received while there. The whole BaritricPal team - coordinators, doctors and hospital staff - all spoke English. So if going to Mexico for WLS is scary, do a lot of research and reach out to those of us who have gone to Mexico. It took me 6 months to make the decision - Dr, coordination team, money etc - and I do not regret going there.

    Finally done it!

Congratulations!!! You will love Dr Lopez. He just did my plication surgery last weekend and they took excellent care of me. Private hospital, private room and an attentive staff. Plan on walking walking walking - I had a hard time with this due to a knee injury - but it will help ease the pain from the gas. Buy or bring some GasX or something similar, that too will help. One item they did not tell me about was you will have to have your outer stitches (from the laparoscopy - 5 holes) removed about a week after you get home - they are not the type that dissolve.
