Hi Davina Where are you based? Good to find another 'local'! There's very little support for us, I know. We could try hook up and give some support -

Hi I didn't go with a company. I chose a bariatric consultant (Marcus Reddy) and then had the op at the Parkside Hospital in Wimbledon. I have his direct mobile if I have any issues or questions. I even sent him a photo of my incisions as I was a bit worried! I find that reassuring. He also has a counsellor and a nutritionist attached to his practice. Generally it's been a good experience if a little distant. Most of the US Practices seem to have a lot more post care. I was sent home with some painkillers and took my own dressings off a week later:-) I use Maxi Nutrition Protein milk. I have choc and strawberry flavours and they're easy to drink. I've found them in both Holland and Barrett and Tesco so far. A good way of getting protein in. Hope that helps! -
How long did your incisions take to heal?

Thanks for you replies. I was told no lifting the kids for a week. I lifted the baby then and my 34lb toddler at 2 weeks. I guess I'll try and take it easier if I can -

Hi wishing you luck for your upcoming surgeries. Mine was done in Wimbledon on 19th May. I had a 2 week pre-op diet. I'm now onto purée stage. It's hard but I know it will be worth it. We have less post op care here than in US I think. But all seems to be going well so far. It's a hard decision but the results will come:-) -
This must be the dreaded 3 week stall. Just 3lbs in a week:-( added on to tired and emotional this wasn't fun! Let's hope it picks up soon My presurgery stat was very similar would love a buddy Some of us are on My Fitness Pal supporting each other if you have that

Going out during puréed phase? (Mushies)
rosieuk replied to PennStater920's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's my wedding anniversary during purée stage. We are going to an Indian restaurant so I can eat lentil dhal and maybe some mottor paneer. Perhaps Indian cuisine could be a choice of restaurant? -
Thoughts on your young children visiting you in the hospital

I have a well behaved 2.5 year old and I had every intention if his coming to visit. But I had a bad reaction to the anaesthetic and was quite poorly. So I took the decision for him not to come in and see Mummy so poorly. It didn't go down well as he wanted to come in so much but it was the right choice for me. Like others have suggested play it by ear. You may be perfectly fine but I felt bad letting my little one down -
I started my purée today. I managed a weetabix and milk for breakfast. Too me all morning! My mashed carrot and swede at lunch didn't go down so well but big success with blended veg chilli for dinner. So good not to eat soup! Scales are slow and am coming down with a rotten cold so wonder how that will impact things. I usually eat my way through a cold!

May Sleevers...where are you?
rosieuk replied to bvenegas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm wondering about the drains. We don't have them in UK as far as I know. So it's a bit better not having to have that done. But from what I've read from others on here it's very straightforward and nothing to worry about. Just one more step on road to recovery -
Eugh, my first experience of my new tummy, Basil, not liking something. I tried some coconut milk and boy, has that been a mistake. A very unpleasant mistake. My learning point will be, with new foods, to have a few sips only and see how that goes.

I'm UK. Had my sleeve 19th May. Little bit more challenging with the food and medical options on this site as ours are different but I find it really helpful and friendly! Good luck with your planning:-)

My scales have stuck for the last 3 days????

Still liquids for me until Tuesday. But I don't mind really as even soup is sometimes a struggle to get in. I braved starting to take my dressings off yesterday. Got one done. I'm such a coward! 3 more to go

How's everyone doing?

It's crazy how each doctor differs. No drain for me and just surgical tape that I take off myself. And doctors mobile if any problems. Oh well suits me. I'm minimal intervention. Today I went for a boat trip on the Thames with my kids and a friend to do the lifting. And I made pizzas with my son. A really good day. The wound sites are still quite painful but my own mobility is nearly back to normal. Walked a good couple of miles.

I'm too scared to take any of mine off????

So glad it went well! Are your incisions 'undressed' now? ???? I am on Fitness Pal. Buddy up? Would be great if we were all able to support on that

Well it's 5am in London now. Day 7 contemplations. Have been awake a lot of the night with gas pains (that feeling it's right up to the top of your throat). But a week on I generally feel ok. I have no desire to even try to cheat. This is not available on insurance in UK. The NHS offers the surgery but I wouldn't have qualified without gaining a bit more weight which seemed crazy. So we've coughed up our own cash for this. I can't even contemplate cheating at the price this has cost. My day 1 - 3 regrets have gone. It's taken a bit more out of me than I expected. The allergic reaction to anaesthesia didn't help. But today I'm going to pick up and cuddle my baby:-) and in a few days, my toddler. And then in no time at all I'm going to be running with them, taking them for bike rides and swimming. And rocking some gorgeous work dresses and heels. And I will have my self esteem and confidence back. And I will ALWAYS struggle with my food issues. But I will find ways to cope. Because I am never coming back to this weight. Never. I owe it to my family and to myself. This is a good thing we have all done. And positivity is the name of the end of my first week. If a little sleep deprived;-)

Great that you are recovering now

Awesome!!!! I'm down 10! Can believe how fast is falling off. Anyone else have times where you feel like you need a few more calories? I've had a couple episodes of what I think is low blood sugar. I'm not diabetic but I had gestational diabetes so I know the feeling well. Any thoughts? Yes I wake up feeling that way. It probably a combination of low sugar and not enough calories. I just sit down and sip on some juice. I so wish I could have a banana!I wake up in the early hours with a painful tummy. I think it wants food as not enough has been going in during the day
