Made the appointment!!! :)

I had two tests that I had to take for my psych clearance. One was 567 questions (MMPI-2) and the other was 120+ questions. (Millon) They were basically personality tests. I "failed" the MMPI-2, basically it came back saying it was inconclusive. The Millon came back fine. I was cleared for surgery without any problems despite the first one being inconclusive. My psychologist said I'm just really good at putting on a "happy face", a.k.a. lying to myself. She said it was actually relatively normal. Good luck on your journey! Time will fly now that you've started! -
For those of you that had to do the six months

My surgeon works in tandem with a registered dietitian on staff at the same hospital. After having my consult I was scheduled for my first appointment with the dietitian. That was my official start to my 6th months. Our first meeting she went over what my pre-op diet was going to be and what I needed to start doing to adjust to life after my band. My doctor cut out soda/liquid calories after the first consult. It was his first requirement along with eating within 45 minutes of waking up and no more than 3-4 hours before bed. My dietitian didn't give a particular menu of what to eat but just said to be sure to choose Protein first and try to get in 2 fruits and 2 veggies a day while limiting carbs. I was also told to take 20 minutes to eat and to not drink with meals. My dietitian appointments are all about getting ready for life after the band. I don't know if this is typical but I really love it. -
I'm not banded yet, but when I lost weight a couple years ago I bought a plain band to wear until I reached my goal weight, which I'm of course still waiting on I bought my titanium band off Ebay for around $25.

Hello all! I'm not banded yet. Working my way through the six month supervised diet. I work out 2 hours a night 5-6 times a week. Due to a bad back I can't lift any weights so I have to stick to straight cardio. I do an hour on the elliptical each night and then either walk an hour on the treadmill, bike an hour or split between the two. Now here's my question: My left calf is starting to look smaller. But my right isn't... Is this something that you have noticed as you lost weight? Do they eventually even out? And I know its way too early to worry about this... But I ordered a cocktail dress for my brother-in-laws wedding and now I'm worried its gonna look odd with a big leg and a small leg

*Laughs* You're right. I doubt anyone will point and laugh! It's nice to know that it will catch up :smile2:

When did you start gaining weight
Gone23456 replied to georgia girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Looking through my elementary school pictures you can see it. One year, I'm a normal little girl - the next my face looks like its been inflated... Lucky me it also happened to be the year my mom decided a perm would look nice... :blushing: I was about 11 when I started gaining. I was 198 by the time I hit 7th grade and graduated at 250. Went on birth control, tried three brands- gained 10 lbs. each time, up to 280. Quit smoking for 4 months, picked up a Hardee's Breakfast habit to replace it and gained another 25, up to 305. And over the course of the last three years I gained about 12 from eating lots of cheap noodle based meals (god I love carbs...) -
I am with BCBS of Minnesota as well and have to do the six month diet. I have been doing a combo plan with monthly visits to my dietician and my PCP. My PCP says that the weight you weighed the day you start is the weight they will submit to insurance. It doesn't matter how much you lose, just that you are able to keep on track with the diet and don't miss any appointments. That is the most important - do not miss even one appointment or you have to start over! I have lost 21 pounds so far. I figure the more I lose now - the less I'll have to lose after being banded! :smile2: Good Luck!!
