Former smokers. where ya at?
judyoz replied to kbingo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may not even have surgery if they do a drug test preop for nicotine. My doctor will not do surgery if you have nicotine in your body. And yes they can do that. I highly suggest you never have another cig before surgery. I am not being mean but honest. Hopefully if you can quit prior to surgery, you can quit for good. I know it is hard, been there done that. Good luck! HUGS -
I am having Porketta (spelling) and eggplant Parm. Cannot wait to eat!

Yes most of us have said the same thing, "what did I do" but it gets better I promise. Congrats!

I eat lots of shell fish. I buy a huge bag of frozen shrimp and it lasts forever because I can only eat about 8-10 at a time. Love crab salad too.

Made that bread a couple of weeks ago. I tasted alot like egg. Not bread.

A lesson learned. You can not trust everyone. If you do not want people to know, do not tell anyone. Sad but true.

How do i get clearance from my pcp?
judyoz replied to queencity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you talking a referral or physical clearance? They are two different things. I saw the surgeon first and then had to get a physical from my PCP for surgery. A referral is for insurance payment. -
How many sizes did you lose?

You will be just fine! -
Fluids slip throught your sleeve faster than food. I drink 12 oz in a very short period of time every morning. The first week that will not be the case, but after that, I had no problem with liquids. Most people will lose hair, I am 12 weeks out and just starting to lose some. They say it will return someday. I would plan on losing some of your hair, sounds like it is a given. I am glad headbands are in style, I will be using them.

I love Premier premixed chocolate, Walmart and Walgreens carry it. Also Sams and costco. My second favorite is Profuse. It is mixed with Water and taste wonderful. It is totally clear and is not a whey product. I kill 2 birds with one stone. I get my water in and extra Protein at the same time. I love Premier premixed Chocolate, Walmart and Walgreens carry it. Do you take any blood pressure medications? -
That is tuff. Is he more worried about a "surgery" or what "type" of surgery it is? I believe in honesty. I would tell him what is going one and what the outcome is going to be. And why you are going to do this. I would assume a great reason is so you will be around to play and have fun with him right? Just give the details you think he can handle. He does not need to know everything.

I love my sleeve. I am only 3.5 months out. I do not know much about RNY. After all I have read on the band, I would not go that route. I see so many doing a revision from band to sleeve. -
I am from Michigan too, Holland to be exact. I had Dr. Schram, who is going to do your surgery?

I personally know 2 people that purposely gained weight to get up to BMI. Can't say I blamed them, 6 months seems long to weight. I did not have a 6 month or 1 year supervised diet.

Yep stretch shorts and t-shirts. Go to Goodwill and get cheap ones, because they won't fit long. :-)
