Should I let my family get a cake for my birthday?
judyoz replied to TealSister's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
How about angle food cake with Cool whip frosting and fruit. I cannot wait till I am able to have this again. So flippin good! -
Honestly, the person who pointed it out to you is just as mean. They are unhappy people that need to make others look bad so they can look/feel good. Very sad. I consider it their problem, not yours.

I was going to say the same thing, my surgeon checked for nicotine prior to surgery. He Would not do surgery if it was positive. I quit in 2013 after smoking 37 years. I have had surgeries while I smoked and it was awful waking up and coughing. Surgeries while not smoking was great, It hurts to cough after surgery. Best of Luck. I used the Patches and it worked well.

Any tricks or tips for small portion purchases?
judyoz replied to MissLiss's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My NUT says, 2 ounces is about the size of a small chicken leg or thigh. Are you eating at a resturant? one ounce is about the your thumb. 3 ounce is about the size of a deck of cards or a unbreaded fish fillet. Hope this helps. JUdy -

I am 3 weeks out and have premier shake every morning, 30 grams of Protein right off the bat. But I love the taste of the chocolate and it goes down very easy. Has anyone tried Profuse? 2 tablespoons added to Water and it is 10 grams of protein. Comes in grape and berry. Very good. And you kill two birds with one stone, water and protein. -
I want to be healthy.

Mine are: Profuse 10 gr Protein and 2 carbs Isopure 40gr protein and 0 carbs Premier chocolate shake 30 gr protein and 5 carbs

Maybe I am atypical, but the sleeve didn't help with hunger

You got this.....Yes worries are bound to happen but you will be just fine. I also thought the first week out..."what did I do". Being 3 weeks out now, I love it. Just want to make sure you know there is no lifting 2 weeks post op. So if you have little ones, this could be hard. Otherwise you will fee fine a couple of days after surgery. Best of luck to you. -
Just ate my first egg (s) since surgery. I had 1 whole egg and an extra egg white. So 1 1/2 eggs? I put mushrooms and swiss cheese in them. For the first time I realize what you mean by stuck in the esophagus feeling. And I only ate about 1/2 of it!! Yahoo, feels good to fill up quickly. Hope this continues.

I have not weighed myself in almost two weeks. I will get weighed at the doctors this week Thursday, hope it is good. After ready many posts about it, I think the scale can be your worst enemy. I plan to weigh myself once a week in the furture. IMO

I understand everyone is different. I am not a number person, just need to feel good and fit into my clothes. Good luck to everyone. I just see so many people do all the right things and the scale does not reflect it, they seem depressed...... Maybe they just need to back off a bit.

I was just cleared to have eggs, cheese and non-pureed meats. I want a mushroom/swiss grilled burger. Without bread of course.. We are grilling this evening. I will be having an egg for lunch. Yahoo

Good for you! And God bless you and your family. Are you and Hubby having it at the same time? Just something to think about. You will not be able to lift for about 2 weeks after surgery. I am not sure if you need to lift or carry your daughter. You will need help after surgery for a while. Good Luck !

I get to start having cheese, eggs and unpureed meats today today. I am so excited. I always loved eggs with cheese, hope it will still taste as good as prior to surgery. Sick of cottage cheese.

Please excuse me but........ having to lose 100# is considered "very Obese". There are many who did/do not need to lose that much on this site. Best of luck with your decision.

Stay off the scale......

I found the smoother the better for foods. Tried ground up chicken salad, felt like a lead balloon. Mashed potatoes were not good either (I just had to try them). What is working is Greek yogurt, mashed beans. I am going to try cream of wheat tomorrow and cottage cheese tomorrow. -
Great to hear!

I was thinking she meant 6 bites, not pieces. I am approved to be on soft foods at 3 weeks. Liquids 2 weeks, pureed 1 week, then at 3 weeks soft foods post op.
