Do you measure everything? What is a sample menu for you?

Nice! Congrats on that, and thanks for the reply. I am down 130 lbs and still have about 40 lbs to go. I am losing about 1-2 lb a wk. I had asked the nutritionist about not measuring and she said it was fine, but I have just been worrying that I am eating too much. Different consistencies fill me up differently...like if I eat 5 oz of meat I'm full, but if I eat a 5 oz yogurt I'm still hungry.
  2. I am 8 months out from bypass. I really don't measure my food anymore...I just let my pouch tell me when I'm done. I was just wondering if that is a no no. I worry that maybe I'm eating too much. I'm still losing...although I'm losing pretty slowly, but I think that's normal at this point, right? I read comments about what other people are eating in a day, and it seems like they are eating so much less than me.

    Taste changes

Oh wow that's crazy. I know from my research and reading message boards that everyone tolerates things differently. That's a good point...I know I need protein. I just didn't want to buy a big tub of protein powder in chocolate flavor only to hate chocolate after surgery lol.

    Taste changes

You really won't know until you, yourself personally try things out. I haven't found much that has changed in terms of smell or taste, but then again, I'm only 3 weeks post-op. My choices for food are still very limited. I can tell you that you don't really want to try to advance faster than what your doctors or medical team suggests. I tried just a small bite of Beef rib (and I mean small, smaller than a dime), and seconds later, it was re-introduced at the dinner table. YUK! Majority of people will say that it's a personal thing. Everyone is different. Some have no changes in taste or smell, others have significant. YMMV! Best luck, and even if you don't like your protein drink, you're going to need them for a couple weeks to ensure you're receiving the minimum amount of protein (60ish grams) per day. Ian

    Taste changes

Hello. I'm having the roux en y on May 22, and I'm trying to get things ready for when I come home. I wanted to get some protein powder but I've read several things about people's tastes changing after surgery. Has anyone had this happen? Thanks in advance
