I have had some up and downs this past year! As of today I am only 27 lbs down. I have done what I have been told Yes I am human and I have made some mistakes but not every day. My doctor reviews my food logs and he tells me that I am doing good considering the rough 4 months that I had with all the nasuea. I know that I backed off the Protein shakes and have started them back last week. If I am making the right food choices and I am not eating full size meals.......WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME! Someone told me that it is the stress that I am under. But that doesn't make sense since the "BAD" foods are not going in my body. There are days where meeting the 1000 calories is hard for me to do. Can anyone suggest anything..... At this point I am SO disapointed that I have not lost more in this past year. I am starting to feel as if I went thru this all for nothing. I need to lose the weight and I do not know where to turn. (I do not lie to my doctor or anyone else about what I do or do not do in turn I do not lie to myself.)

Gill27UK, I thought for sure that I was doing something to make the band fail. But I know that I am and have been doing the right things (with a couple slips here and there) Can you share your daily meals with me and maybe we can help each other out? Thanks!

Good morning all! I now know that I am not the only one having this issue. I have expressed my feelings to my husband, friends and co-workers and they are a great support team! And I think you are right Sooverit, I need to get back in that mind set and just keep moving forward. Best of Luck to all of us! I will let you all know how things are going. And maybe some things that I change will help one of you.

I have taken in all that eveyone has said and I am reviewing changes that I need to make. YES, Brad More exercise. And I did not even notice that most if my meals are "soft" foods. So I am making changes in that area as well. I will log everything and review it w/ my doctor on my next visit. THANKS!

Thanks for responding. I have 5 1/2 cc's in my 10 cc band. I do log my food each day on daily plate. There are most days that I DO NOT meet the 1000 calories and I am adding in the Protein shakes to help with that. Now I get over 40 grams fo protein per day. I do exercise but I know not like I should be. I work 2 full time jobs and I have been tired so much here lately and I keep getting the "bugs" that everyone is getting. And that is not excuse. I have stated getting up earlier so that I can get my cardio in before I start my day. I seem to have issue with solid foods "hurting" and if I chew my bites any more they will be pure liquids and I know that band works with solids. Example of my menu for a day: Morning coffee w/ equal and powder creamer. 1/2 Protein shake (25 grams of protein) cottage cheese or hard boilded egg on lettuce 1/2 of protein shake and for dinner it is lean protein w/ veggies Some times I eat peanut butter(protein) with celery. *** Coffee (1) cup per day, protein shake and then after that it is Water for the rest of the day****** I have started trying differnt teas with no sweetners at all. but again no calories in them. I can fit into some clothes that I could not wear before my band. and people tell me that they can see the weight loss. From what I am being told, I am doing what I should be doing. (Adding more exercise in as well) Any suggestions? I would love to see your pics!

I like ISOPURE too. Not too sweet like some of the other proteins drinks out there and they don't feel heavy.

:confused2:Hello everyone! I have post questions before and your input has helped me sooo much! So Here I go again.... I was banded 1/23/08..... everything went well went for my first fill @ 6 weeks (3/5/08) 2cc's about 5 days 3/10/08 I started feeling nausea thru out my days. I went back to the doctor on 3/19/08 and he took out the 2 cc's to see if it was the band making me feel that way. I went for a follow up on 3/24/08 and they replaced the 2 cc's befoe I left the office they ended up removing 1/2 cc because I could not swallow. That night I ended up at the ER for a ER Unfill. On 4/7/08 They put .75cc in my band and 2 days later they removed .5 cc. STILL having nausea this whole time. I was sent for an Upper and Lower Gi, Results were perfect. So the doctor got me up on the table stated he would have to remove the .5cc left in my band because they were requesting that I get scoped to see what is going on. WELL----- The doctor ended up removing 4cc's from my band!!!!!!!!! And he felt a kink in my tubing. So my boyfriend and I thought about it, kicked it around and thought that somewhere the cc's were mis logged. Since he found saline that should have not been there he asked me to go a week and see how I feel. So I went to back as a check up this past Monday 5/12/08 and for kicks the doctor flushed my band and out comes 1cc more than he put in! And I have gained 4 lbs back!!!! So how is fluid getting in my band and why am I still so nauseous all the time????????????? Does anyone think that I have a defective band? What are your thoughts? PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME with this. I am watching eveything that I eat and drink and with a food journal per doctor's request. No pattern..... so I must be eating too fast or too much like you say........ So I am making sure that I am taking baby bites and chewing like crazy. Thank guys!

Really??? I try to watch my bites and chewing etc..... Not to sound silly..... but maybe I should use a baby spoon til I get the hang of it??? Thanks for the input!

Thanks to everyone that post about issues with fills. I have had some issues.... I am being told that I have a 10 cc band but I only NOW have .5cc in the band and at times I have the "stuck" feeling.... and I wonder all the time how that is possible with such a small amount of fluid in my band. I now know that I can not eat bread anymore...first time since I have been banded. :confused: and I still have nausea on and off every day and the meds are not helping. So I wonder if the nausea is something I will have to "Deal" with. Again Thank you for all the posts..... I know that I am not alone!

tinywishes, I hope things get better for you and me. I have a real bad cold right now so that doesn't help. Have you had any of the nausea? I tried the protonin and it didn't really help/ So now I am taking Reglan 30 mins before each meal so I hope that it helps because it isnt intended for long term use. Keep me updated so I know how you are doing. Thanks for responding

Thanks for the update. I went Tuesday and was given a .75 fill. And it was still too tight. I ended back at the doctor's office to have .25 removed and you are right what .25 difference can make. So I only have .50 in a 10cc band ......... how crazy that seems???? I am still experiencing nausea on and off I am trying the meds that was given to me. I hope they work soon because so far the past month or so is really making my decision a hard one to live with. I did so well up until my "first" fill (3/5/08) then things just went down hill. Like you stated in one of your posts.......... this isn't suppose to be hurtful, or bothersome. Life should go on just with us eating less. Thanks again!

Please update us on how you are doing. I had the same thing happen and ended up in the ER and had everything removed now I do not have anything in my band and 23 days later I am still nauseaus.

I had my first fill of 2cc's. 5 days later I started feeling nausea on and off all day everyday. I was suppose to get a 2nd fill which was cxl'ed due to this....doctor even took out my first 2 cc's. Still had nausea. I went back a week later and they replaced the 2 cc's and it was too much! They had to take out 1/2 cc.I was able to drink ok however about 10-15 mins later I felt like I was choking. I ended up in the ER with my doc taking the fill out. Today is day 23 with nausea and NO FILL. So I understand and listen to your body if it isn't feeling right then it just may npt be right. Hang in here!,,,,,,, I hope things change soon for me.

I'm not sure the name....or correct size. I was told that I have the smallest band that they make. Does that make sense?

Hello everyone. Thanks for all of your posts. I was banded on 1/23/08 and has my first fill on 3/5/08 2cc's. about 5 days later I started feeling nausea....(as of today it has been 23 days.) on 3/19 the doctore removed the fill. 3/24 I was given the 2 cc's back and it was way too tight he took out 1/2 cc that night I ended up in the er and the 1.5 cc was removed. I do not have any fluid in my band but I am not losing. I have lost 3 lbs then gained 1.6 back. then yesterday I weighted in and I lost 1 lb. Not sure what is going on and if I can't handle a fill but I'm not losing much what are my options? My doc did give me Protonix 40 mg to try and see if that will rid of the nausea. Please someone respond and let me know there will be light at the end of this tunnel

:confused2::confused2:Am I the only person having problems with the FIRST fill?????? I had my first fill 3/5/08..........then on 3/10/08 Nausea started on and off I wnet back to the doctor 3/19/08 and my first fill was removed to see if the nausea was related to the band. Yesterday I go in for follow up and my doctor places 2 cc back in my band the same amount from the first time and I could not swallow without burping. So he removed 1/2 cc and then I felt fine. About 15 mins later I left as if I could not swallow and there was pressure on my chest. I get to my job and call the doctor and since it was after hours (I was the last appt for the day) I get a call back from o/c doctor (my doc's partner) and he tells me not to drink or eat for the rest of the night. (not like I wanted to anyways) and if things are not better by the morning to go to the office and if things get worse to call him.........As time went by instead of things getting better they got worse. I called him back and he stated for me to go the ER and he will meet me there. AGAIN my entire fill was removed again. INSYANT relief!!! I am being told that since I am not as big as most people I will have to take extra baby steps and in a week they will place .75 as my first fill in my band. and then from there .25 each time. I understand that I have to go s l o w and all I just feel now the weight will never come off in a decent amount of time. What is going on with me!

Since I seem to be in the same boat as you. Can you give me any advice on foods? I work 2 jobs and I am always on the go. I leave home about 7:30 am and I get home around 10-10:30 pm.

Thanks! That makes me feel better. I just never heard anyone having issues with fills. Did your weight loss go very slow?

Some days I have restrictions and other days little restriction. Does that even make sense?

:tongue_smilie:Hello everyone. I had my first fill on 3/5/08. No issues..I even have some restriction then on Monday evening I started to feel very sick to my stomach. It is kinda like a roller coaster one second I am fine the next I am sick to my stomach. I spoke to my nurse and she stated that if I am drinking and eating without any issues she does not feel that it is an issue with my band. I just don't know and I hate this feeling. Any suggestions would be great!

No vomiting. Just nausea. It off and on all day long. I go back to the doctor today and I hope that he will replace the fill that he took out. Because I can really tell that I can eat normal size portions and that scares me. I have heard that some people go thru this with weight loss surgery. I just hope that it ends soon. Thank you everyone ... it's nice to know that I am not alone!

Hi there, I was banded on 1-23-08 and had my first fill on 3/5/08... on 3/10/08 I have been nauseous since 3/10/08 all day on and off since then. I went to the doctor on Wednesday 3/19/08 and my doctor took my first fill out to see if it was the band but........ I am still nauseous! I go back today to get my fill back and I hope that this goes away soon 14 days straight is a long time. I will pray that we both find common ground again soon...... PLEASE let me know your outcome. And I am glad not that you are having the same issue but that I am not alone. Thanks for letting us know.

I was banded on 1/23/08 no problems had my first fill on 3/5/08 the on 3/10/08 I started feeling sick to my stomach on and off every day since then. I was suppose to have a 2nd fill on 3/19 however my doctor stated he has never had anyone go thru this. He did ask me if I thought I was expecting. I explained that both of my tubes are blocked and that I wanted to lose weight so that I could have the IVF done. So he stated that he wanted to remove my fill to see if the systoms went away. Well that was 2 days ago and I still feel sick off and on all day and night long. I tried GasX and antacids and nothing works. Has anyone gone thru this................. ANY kind of help or advice would help. It's been 11 days of feeling this way. :confused2:

Hello Everyone and Good afternoon! KEEP THE FAITH AND TAKE ONE DAY AT A TIME......... I was banded 1/23/08 and felt the same way. I go for my 2nd fill today and I am so excited. I live each day instead of getting thru the days like I did before I was banded.
