I work 2 full time jobs and I am very limited on time. I am now on solid foods and I am having a hard time coming up with food ideas. Am I suppose to eat 3 meals plus the 2 Protein shakes? I have been drininking Carnation Instant Breakfast drinks (ok'ed by my doc) I checked last night and I am at the same weight I was at my 1week post op appt. Is this normal? H E L P M E P L E A S E! :confused2:

Michelle, I was banded on 1/23/08. I know every doctor is different...however I was moved up to mushies and I now eat ALMOST anything that I want. I just take small bites and chew very well. I eat chicken,fish,mashed potatoes,mac and cheese,pot pie,eggs,oatmeal,I have even had the toppings off of a piece of pizza. Try very small bites chew and see how things feel. If all is well .... Happy (band) eating. Things are getting better for me day by day. Just don't limit yourself to where you feel depressed. This is our new life...enjoy every bit of it!

I too have had several surgeries and I was told that I would be a "tough" case. However. I followed the pre-op diet to a "T" and my surgery was a breeze. I was banded on 1/23/08... I am 14 days post op and with each day I feel so much better. I think from all the other surgeries this was was just uncomfy not painful. The only thing that I had an issue with was not wanting to eat or drink. That is now gone and I am on mushies. I will pray for you!

I am just checking in with everyone. I am feeling soooo much better. I am on the mushie stage for another 3 days. YES! I would like to know how everyone is doing. I went back to both jobs yesterday after working one job for a week. And I am feeling better as each day passes. I did however pull a muscle on my left side of my stomach that is the only thing that is giving me an issue. Does anyone have any suggestions for some mushies?

Today I am 6 days post op. I am trying to "eat" what I am allowed and drink however I am having a hard time. Everything is an issue to get it down. Not that it hurts or anything like that. I DON'T want anything. Not even soups,water,protein drinks,the new G2 gatorade,sf puddings...nothing. When I do try to eat or drink I get very little down before I feels like if I go on things will come back up. Does anyone have any advice on this?

KTBEEE, Hi there. I was banded on 1/23/08 and I experienced the same thing. Just do your breathing exercises and they do get better. I got tired very fast and felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest. Just don't panic......rest and take very deep breaths and let them out slowly. Do this several times a day and you will see they ease up. Good Luck!

Hello and Good afternoon everyone! I went to my 1st post op appt yesterday and my doctor told me that I am doing very well! He is allowing me to drive again and go back to both jobs come Monday. I am feeling so much better. And I explained to the doctor and nurse what I was going thru and they told me (like all of you) that I just take it one day at a time. Thanks everyone! I have been moved to the mushy stage.I was told to try and eat mushies and if I can hold them down and they don't bother me I can eat what I want on the mushie stage. I had some refried beans w/cheese and ground beef w/taco seasoning.....soooo goood and I only ate 1/2 cup. and I feel good. Not stuffed but comfortable. I just have to remember not to drink while eating. :smile: Thanks for all of your support! Let me know how you all are feeling as well.

Thanks you guys! It really makes a difference to know that there are other people going thru what I am going thru.( or went thru the same thing.) I go tomorrow for my 1 week post op appt. I hope he will allow me to have more options when it comes to food. I get worried about losing my hair from lack of protein. My boyfriend put a raw egg in my milk last night and mixed it in without me knowing it and I never tasted the egg! I guess I will get my protein one way or another. LOL I feel more like my old self this morning not so tired. My belly still feels sore on the inside but the outside looks GREAT! I have not weighted myself in 3 days but as of 3 days ago I was 24 lbs down!

:rolleyes2: For the end result. They say nothing worth while is NEVER EVER easy............. they are RIGHT on that one. Illion, you seem to be worse off then me. Other than the bloating and not eating drinking I am just a little sore. But keep your head up we will get thru this together!

My first back to work was Monday. It was a little rough sitting up for such a long period of time. Today isn't as bad. I don't really have pain...just uncomfortable. Thanks for responding, I wanted to make sure it just wasn't me going thru this.

I am 5 days post op and I burp all the time. They are kinda painful. I spoke with the nurse today and she told me all is normal. So I guess I just have to wait it out.

I stayed one night. I am 5 days post op. I am glad that I did stay over night the staff was great and treated me like a queen. I too have an issue with the gas but as each day passes it gets better. I am back to work today. Taking it easy.

Tomorrow is surgery day! Soooo excited. and Scared. I will chat with you all when I am up and around!

This is my last day of the pre op diet.I have to be at the hospital at 5am tomorrow morning. I have not cheated. And I haven't even thought about it!

When I was talking about it everyone was happy for me and "supported" me. Then when I got the approval there have been some that have made comments and I just tell them that this is not for them that this is for me. I even had my regional office manager tell people that she will not be surprised that I lose the weight, leave my boyfriend and start sleeping around! I have never had a problem with "men" I was married for 9 years and now I am in a very HAPPY realstionship for over 4 years now. If this startes to happen to you....keep your head up and remember this is for YOU and not any one else! My surgery is in 2 days 1/23/08.

Hello everyone. I am on my 3rd day pre op diet. I am amazed that I am doing so well. I thought for sure I would have gone crazy by now. But I am sticking with it. I will be banded Next Wednesday 1/23/08. I am soooo excited and scared! Good Luck to everyone!

Did any of you get the pre cert letter that tells you what they are looking for? I did and circa if you have other medical issues that are effecting you don't panic. They look at the whole picture. I went thru a lot to get approved only because of the office person not knowing what she was doing. Keep your head up! And if they do happen to deny you for one reason or another just keep after them don't give up. I did that and I am having surgery on 1/23. I will pray for you!

nurse97 any suggestions on the pre op diet? I start on Sun 1/13 and I feel very overwhelmed.

I have never heard anything this crazy! Especially knowing what I (and everyone else) had to go thru to get approved. And at the age of 19 you can just say No and not have it done. I agree that there is a lot of holes in this story and that she needed to open her mouth when she was in the meeting. Lord knows No one would make any decisions for me without my approval. ~~~~~ On the other Hand~~~~~ I'm so thankful I have found this site. Is there anyone out there from Florida? I am in Bradenton and looking for some local support to go with this site I can't wait to be banded!

Yes they will deny you. I went thru that with them and that is what happened to me. But I found someone that knew what they were doing and got all the paperowrk to them and was approved in 2 days!

:)Yes! My insurance was so strick on their guidelines. I had to complete the 6 months. I had decided to use a surgeon that a friend of mine used. He had a lot of problems. Their office submitted my paperwork and I was denied .... because all the paperwork was not in order. I was told to submit the appeal myself with my primary doctor. I was sooo stressed. Then a co-worker of my boyfriends told him about her surgeon and I called them they handled everything. I had all the paperwork but the first office did not know what they were doing..I rec'ed my approval 2 days later. So make sure you have your ducks in a row so you don't have to go thru what I did.

I will be banded on 1/23/08 in Bradenton, FL by Dr.Ebella and Dr.Bunch. They have me starting the liquid diet 10 days prior to surgrey. I have warned everyone to BEWARE during that time.:help: I am so excited but scared all at the same time. I am worried I will do something wrong since I work 2 jobs and on the go all the time.
