Any December Sleever's?
tera1982 replied to wif3ysince08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
December 8th in Wisconsin -
I'm so excited, nervous, and READY! It's almost here and I can't believe it. I've definitely been in a "nesting" type state, cleaning and preparing the house; just trying to get everything ready.

I am currently pre-op(surgery scheduled for December 8th); my question is this-how do you deal with having to prepare and/constantly be around your family eating "regular" foods? I have 3 kids(a 17 year old girl, a 13 year old boy(aka bottomless pit), and an 11 year old boy, all of which are a normal weight/bmi) and a fiancé who can eat like no ones business, also a normal bmi. I obviously don't expect them to go on a bariatric diet with me, but how do you all deal with having to prepare "normal" meals and be around things that you clearly can't have, especially in the first month or so? Thanks!

Surgery in one week - nerves have kicked into overdrive!
tera1982 replied to lizziebeth72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is December 8th and I am a wreck! I am beyond emotional-crying because I'm happy, crying because I'm scared, etc. Jeez, I wasn't this bad when I was pregnant with my daughter. Its all I think about all day and night. Am I making the right decision? What if something goes wrong? What if I'm the small percent that has serious complications after? Is this really finally happening? Am I really going to be healthy again? I completely understand where you're coming from...good luck with everything!!!! -

Looking for Sleeve Buddy for Dec 7th.
tera1982 replied to Fat2Phat2016's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm December 8th as well. I know there are quite a few of us that are the 8th, as well as ALOT that are within a few days of that. I would love to have someone to share with. I have a great support system at home but it would be great to have someone who's been through/going through the same type of things I am. -
Do all Doctors require two week liquid preop diet?
tera1982 replied to Sleeved Nurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm also having my VSG December 8th. No pre-op liquid diet, just a recommended low carb, low fat 1800 calorie diet(even though I was not given any restrictions, which I'm ecstatic about with thanksgiving next week). I just have to ingest nothing by mouth past midnight before surgery. Congrats on the surgery; good luck with everything!!! -

As for hot chocolate, Bariatricpal store has some really good protein hot chocolate packets, even some with mini marshmallows(my favorite). Each packet has 15 grams protein so I don't feel so guilty drinking.

Anyone else NOT on a pre-op diet?
tera1982 replied to mcp_vsg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My VSG is scheduled for December 8, 2015. The only thing I have to do pre-op is a low-carb, low-fat 1800 cal diet for two weeks and nothing to eat/drink midnight before surgery. The diet is pretty lenient, allowing for almost anything in moderation. The NUT said most important thing to follow is the calories, not carb or fat. The diet they gave is only a loose guideline, not a requirement. -
Elective gallbladder removal
tera1982 replied to Krztina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here...my doc is "the best", he's been doing this forever and actually teaches bariatric studies ...he said he only takes the gallbladder if there are current problems or a strong family history of issues, of which need to be verified. -
I had posted before about this...I am a type-1 diabetic on an insulin pump along with high blood pressure and a bunch of other crap. I will always be diabetic, no surgery will change that. I had a surgery date set for September, and at my pre-op with the anesthesiologist, my A1C was too high(10.6). Because of how much of a "brittle" diabetic I am, my endocrinologist wanted to postpone to try and get the A1C a little lower, as well as adjust insulin ratios based on a pre-op diet. My surgery is now scheduled for December 8th. I am having the sleeve because 1. It was my surgeons first suggestion and 2. I felt more comfortable not having things rerouted as well as having extra stomach just hanging around in there. It is a personal choice but I ultimately listened to what my surgeon and the team thought had the best outcome possibilities for me. I hope everything goes well!

Any December Sleever's?
tera1982 replied to wif3ysince08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm the 8th as well! I'm sooo excited, but also very nervous. Unfortunately, I have the sort of "if something can go wrong, it will" type of luck. I'm praying that everything goes alright and no major complications. Hope everything goes well for everyone and wishing speedy recoveries! -

I am also December 8th, 2015! Congrats and good luck!!!29 days to go!! 12/08/2015, here we come. Are you feeling ready @@lesley_vsg and @@tera1982 ?I am nervous(I've had surgery before, but anesthesia is always worrisome; I am only mildly worried about pain; concerned about my diabetes and how it's going to react to my new sleeve(I am a type-1 diabetic on an insulin pump); and also about hair loss as I already have fine, thinning hair although I hear as long as I get all of my Protein and fluids, it SHOULD be minimal-per my NUT). Other than that, lol, I am super excited and ready for the next stage of my life, hopefully a healthier, thinner stage!????
