  1. Those are adorable! I want one for myself????
  2. So, I had gastric sleeve surgery 12/08/15 and have 6 incisions. I have noticed that the larger one on the right where my stomach was removed is "indented". The rest are all flat but this one caves in. I'm assuming it's because that one had sutures to close it up and the skin was just pulled taught. I have a post-op coming up next week so I'll talk to my surgeon then, I was just curious if anyone else had this issue. Thanks!
  3. Hello fellow sleevers. I am newly sleeved(12/08/15) and am on puréed stage. I've tolerated cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, and tuna with 1tbps. Fat free miracle whip well. I've tried scrambled eggs, turkey, and cod(in the hospital), which went just okay. Chicken with 1 tbsp. Fat free gravy didn't sit well. I felt sooo sick, like a big old rock sitting in my stomach....not gonna try that again for a while! I almost feel like the colder puréeds worked better with my new/still healing tummy. So my question for you that have been through this already is what did you eat on your puréed stage? What worked? What didn't?

Did anyone go to surgery alone.

I was sleeved on 12/08/15. I live roughly an hour from the hospital so I had my parents drop me at the hospital(kind of weird, being that I'm 33). They only stayed until the surgeon told them I made it through okay. My boyfriend had work and school and I didn't want him to have to take off "just for me". I have to say that I was happy no one was there. I had a two night stay and wanted to rest as much as possible(easier said than done with nurses doing rounds checking vitals and whatnot). I was just trying to recover, which seemed to be easier when I could just focus on sipping and walking. I love my family, but I knew I would see them soon and the better I did before I left the hospital, the better I'd do at home. I had my dad pick me up and everything worked out well. It absolutely your decision, I personally found it "easier" with no one there.

    Puréed stage?

I am not yet able to get all of my water in, though I'm only about 10 ounces shy. Protein goals are another story. I am only between 35-50 grams a day(goal is 60-100). I am following the timeline in my packet(no drinking 30 before, during, and 30 after meals and taking 30-45 minutes to eat) and am finding it extremely difficult to eat that much(literally only 2 ounces) without it feeling like I'm going to explode.

    Anyone else nervous?

I think being nervous is absolutely the norm. I was terrified, then sooo ready, then scared, then over excited, but in the pre-op room getting my iv's put in, I balled like a baby. I was so nervous-was I making the right decision? What if something goes wrong? But then I thought about what HAVING the surgery meant. A healthier, thinner, hopefully happier me! The tears stopped and the next thing I knew, I was being wheeled up to a room from recovery:-) I was just sleeved 12/08/15, and I won't lie, there have been times I thought "what did I do to myself?", but I don't regret it for a second.
  7. I could also eat an entire pizza by myself and then some(either appetizers or desserts). It's embarrassing to think about how much I over ate. I'm only 5 days post-op, but can already tell you that will not happen ever again. I am using this tool to the fullest and not allowing myself back into such an unhealthy way of life!

    Water hurts!

I am struggling with water. Water sips while hospitalized caused vomiting almost every time. It was awful. Goal is 64 ounces; today I managed 32 plus a sugar free Popsicle. Water causes the same issues for me as well. I feel like no matter how small my sips are, they sit in my chest and cause pressure.

    December 8th Sleevers......

What did you try to eat? I tried some soup that I strained and had four spoonfuls and was done it was heavily diluted with water too.I had puréed chicken...I had puréed turkey, chicken, and cod(which was actually better than it sounds) in the hospital, along with puréed carrots, peaches, applesauce, and Greek yogurt. I think I just tried eating too fast as well as to big a portion and it was too much. I have my tiny spoons from the program and am using those to help gauge my intake(doc wants # of those spoonfuls documented). I am more concerned at this point in getting my fluid intake but just received my protein soup broth from diet direct! Yeah, now I can do double duty!????????oh my......your ????were bigger than your tummy LOL.....I'm on liquids for 2 weeks ????The surgeons instructions for after VSG are liquids only first day and 2nd day for breakfast, and lunch and dinner second day puréed through the next two weeks...after two weeks soft foods and then transition. I did okay in the hospital, I guess I just really want to do whatever I can to meet goals and NOT end up back in.

    December 8th Sleevers......

Yay!! Congrats! It feels good to be home, even though my surgical staff was hands down, THE BEST! That hospital staff and those girls were amazing!
  13. I had VSG on Tuesday, dec 8th...I am having an extremely hard time eating more than a few bites of anything and am really trying on the water. I made the mistake of eating too much/too fast for lunch and am now miserable. I feel like I just ate a ginormous feast when in reality it was a few baby spoonfuls. My surgeons office said water is most important in the first stages because the number one complication with this surgery is dehydration(which equals back to the hospital)...i was told protein(food) intake will increase over time-JUST PUSH WATER. I would consult your surgeons team if you have any concerns, whatsoever. They welcome the calls and would rather have you call and get answers than try on your own and end up back with them.

    December 8th Sleevers......

I just tried to eat lunch and it did not go well. Terrible indigestion and feeling like everything is sitting in my chest. I obviously was overzealous and went to big, too fast. Lesson learned!

    December 8th Sleevers......

Hope everyone is doing well. I am home and just trying to nail my water goals. I know that it won't happen right away-just trying to avoid dehydration so I don't end up back in. It's such an odd sensation to not want to eat. I even went grocery shopping with my guy to stock up for the family and nothing looked appealing-crazy, I know! Normally I would've loaded the cart. The pain is slight, especially around the right side wound were stomach is pulled, but trying not to take anything because I am afraid of the nausea as well as being to tired to focus on my water/protein goals. Please keep in touch, it helps so much to have sleeve buddies going through the same situation at the same time....????

Looking for Sleeve Buddy for Dec 7th.

Yes, I had slightly blurred vision but I'm 3 days post-op now and it's back to normal. Having a rough time with the water requirements, but still trucking along. Was definitely a challenge getting comfortable at home, but still better than being poked at and dragging an IV up and down the hallway doing my laps...good luck with everything!
  17. Thank you for the input, everyone. I just got discharged so I'm ready to keep up with that water goal at home-even if it kills me????
  18. Heading into the hospital for my VSG! Wish me luck!!!!

    December 8th Sleevers......

Surgery itself went great with very little pain. I was extremely nauseous and threw up at least six times dice I got into my room. My nursing staff is phenomenal-I love them! Hope you're all doing well!!

My surgery is also at 7:30am...I have to be at admissions desk by 5:30am. Good luck, everyone! I hope we all have a speedy recovery!!!????
