Hi There! I am Valerie!

I started my "official" surgery journey in September 2014. I had been researching and considering surgery for about 15 years before hand...I had even started the process, but at the time I was taking care of my Mother and she would get really sick and I would get side tracked...just not meant to be at the time.
Almost 2 years ago, my Mother passed away...I lost not only my only parent, but also my best friend and soul mate. It took me a while after, but I am on track doing what she always wanted  me to do...taking care of myself and not heading in the direction she went.
Anyway, as I said, i started my official surgery journey last Sept., finally seeing a surgeon, doing all the testing required. The Goddess blessed me in that all my tested turned out great and as of today (April 29th) I started my 2 week pre-op diet! To lose the pre-op weight they required, I did Weight Watchers...did really well, I lost over 30 bs. when all they wanted was 10 lbs.!!
My surgery date is May 13, 2015!! This coming Friday (May 1) I have my final pre-op testing an my final pre-op appointment with my surgeon. On May 11th, I have a class to attend...headed by the Nutritionist, Kay Clatterbuck and my surgeon's RN, Laurie Martin...mainly to cover things like what to buy/have on hand, last minute questions, what to expect, etc.
I am very excited and a tad nervous...this is my first major surgery and hospital stay...even it is is only about 24 hours, as long as nothing goes wrong :)
My boyfriend, Skyy, has been so supportive and wonderful...and I know I have nothing to worry about with him taking care of my fur baby, Lola and taking care of me when and if I need it.
I do have OCD, so the not knowing what is going to happen tweaks me a bit, but I am dealing.
My reasons for going for this type of surgery are varied, but mainly I want to get healthy. I have a number of health problems and I know not everything will be resolved, I will always a disability, but loosing weight WILL help several others and help me to cope with those I will always have to live with.
Surgery is my tool...I have horrible will power, I know my shortcomings and am ok with it (almost, lol), but this is my motivator, this is my kick in the ass and my last chance. I am seizing it will all my might!
I guess at this point I should tell more about me:
I am 39 (will be 40 in November), am on Disability since 2005. Divorced twice, no kids (never wanted any), but I do have a sweet and crazy fur baby, Lola...a little Diva Chiweenie! (will post her pics) I have a pretty new BF, Skyy...we have been together since October '14 and he has an absolutely adorable 6 year old son that I love! Ad Lola loves his like crazy..always a good sign! :)
In my spare time, I sell Avon ( www.youravon.com/valdillon ) I also create jewelry that I sell online      ( www.DragonflyCreations.etsy.com )  I am addicted to Facebook games, hidden object games and crossword puzzles. I identify as a Wiccan Pagan Solitary Witch.
I guess that's it for now, if I think of anything else, I'll add it! Thanks Everyone! xoxo
