RonKat started following Getting Banded 12/21, Stalled??, Attempting a Poll - December Surgery Dates and and 7 others

I have a question. I was banded on 12/21. To date i have lost about 42lbs. I can tell that my clothes are getting bigger and bigger each week, but I have not lost much weight over the last month. Maybe 4 lbs at the most. My body is getting smaller but the weight isn't coming off. Seems Odd! I have read through the posts and expected the stall in weight loss. Anyone else experiencing the same thing?

I had my first post-op visit today. On 12/20 I weighed in at 307lbs. I was banded on 12/21. As of today, 1/2(less than two weeks), I now weigh in at 275#'s. I have lost 32lbs since my surgery! I could not be happier. People are asking me if I lost weight. I feel 6 inches taller for some strange reason. My pants are starting to feel big. I can actually tie my shoes without holding my breath -- or being out of breath! Things are moving in the right direction. I have more energy and am walkign 2-3 miles a night, everynight. I have been given clearence to start jogging or playing basketball, volleyball. I was never a big beer drinker(much prefered vodka) but I can't believe the cravings I have had for a beer and some popcorn... lol of all things. I haven't cheated at all and am doing much better than I thought I would eating pureed foods, meat more specificly. But I blend them up good and use it kind of like a gravy over my mashed potatos. Some days I am hungry all day and others I am not hungry at all. Very inconsistent. I ahve had no pain AT ALL. Never needed the pain meds even right after the surgery. The worst of it for me was the gas. It wasn't horrible, but I felt like my stomach was going to pop like a pimple. All in all -- I am so glad I did this. I know the weight loss will slow down, but I am enjoying it while i can.

Hey fellow banders -- Today(1/2) I had my post-op visit. I can move onto full excersise, but no lifting weights! I have been feeling great walking 2-3 miles a day since my surgery on 12/21. I get my first fill, if needed, on 1/30. I am finding some days I am starving and others I could careless about eating. I am sure that this is normal, but it is inconsistent. As of today I have lost 32#'s in a lttle les than 2 weeks. I feel great, people are noticing the weight loss. My attitude is great, my energy is great. I have not cheated at all and am exremely focused. I am determined to make myself a healthier person. These tickers are a pain in the ass. Everytime I go to update mine it does not recognize my pin. Does anyone else have this problem?

Here is another thought for blended foods. I bought premade turkey in gravey in the meat department near. It was right next to the premade mash potato's. I grabbed a container of each. Begrudgenly, I came home and blended the turkey breast and gravy. I bought a bunch of 6 oz containers. I put a scoop of mashed potatos on the bottom and a scopp of the pureed turket on top. This made about 6 meals. It was AWESOME. Thanksgiving dinner. :-) I also made my meals for the week. I have everything measured out and ready. I find that I am not hungry and have been keeping myself very busy. If I don't plan my meal times I forget and then have to wait 1/2 cause I just had water! And by this time I am hungry. Now everything is at my fingertips. I think I am going to do this every week!!!! But try the pre-made turkey its good. I may try the pot roast next. I cant believe I am liking pureed meat!

Getting Banded 12/31--Got a Huge Gift basket, ugh!
RonKat replied to mvg1269's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't look at it as a set back. Turn Lemon's into Lemonade. Bring the basket to a church, bring it to work -- pay it forward. -
I just wanted to drop a note of thanks. I had been working on getting approved for my band for over a year. I virtually gave up. I was given the green light right around Thanksgiving and was banded last week(12/21). I did not know this site existed until a week or so before my surgery. I have scan this site from top to bottom. What a great too we have with lapbandtalk.com. But to all the Dec 07 banders..... I have read through your experiences and prepared mysef through them. I know we are all different and our bodies respond differently, but you ahve all helped me more than you know. Just by posting threads for me to read through. Thanks again and I can'twaint to Dec 08 when we can all really claim our title of Merry Lousers!

I ahd my surgery last week(12/21). All the emotions you are going through are totally normal. Relax and remember your HEALTH will benefit from dropping the weight. I wanted to back out hours before surgery. In less then a week I have lost weight. I ws up and walking within 2 hours of surgry and never looked back. Minor discomfort, everyone is different. I never needed pain meds. Others do. Listen to your body. I had to stay in the hospital overnight becuase of sleep apnea. As far as teh diet is concerned, I didn't have a pre-op diet. I only had to be on clear liquids for 24 hours prior to surgery.Make sure you stick to it today. I have not had nausia. I wasn' interested in food at all until yesteray. But I forced myself to get some protien in a couple times a day. Good luck tomorrow and let us know how it goes.

Ellisa, How much did your husband lose overall? And at what point did the losing slow down?
-
Yes, I am on a post-op diet. Week 1(ends Saturday) Full liquid Week 2 & 3(starts Saturday -- YES!!) pureed foods Week 4 & 5 soft foods Week 6 foods as tolerated. No soda, no coffee. I have been very good, not cheating at all. Maybe an extra 1oz of a cream Soup, but nothing more.

Hey Guys, I was banded last Friday(12/21). I said I was not goign to weigh myself until I went to my post-op visit on 1/2/08. Well I broke down and stepped on my scale last night. I knew I was feeling better about how my clothes fit. Well, last Thursday(12/20) I weighed in at 307#'s. As of last night I weighed in at 283#'s. I lost 24lbs in less than a week! I know not to expect these kind of results, but I am so happy with such a great start. This really motivates me to stay focused.

I did great. I was banded on 12/21. I was not hungry until yesterday 12/25. The food smelled great for the first time since last week. But I stayed on course. But OH a Christmas Cookie would have been nice!
