    Stalled??

I have a question. I was banded on 12/21. To date i have lost about 42lbs. I can tell that my clothes are getting bigger and bigger each week, but I have not lost much weight over the last month. Maybe 4 lbs at the most. My body is getting smaller but the weight isn't coming off. Seems Odd! I have read through the posts and expected the stall in weight loss. Anyone else experiencing the same thing?
  2. Banded 12/21 and down 40 lbs. First fill is this coming tuesday!

    30 --- Gone

I had my first post-op visit today. On 12/20 I weighed in at 307lbs. I was banded on 12/21. As of today, 1/2(less than two weeks), I now weigh in at 275#'s. I have lost 32lbs since my surgery! I could not be happier. People are asking me if I lost weight. I feel 6 inches taller for some strange reason. My pants are starting to feel big. I can actually tie my shoes without holding my breath -- or being out of breath! Things are moving in the right direction. I have more energy and am walkign 2-3 miles a night, everynight. I have been given clearence to start jogging or playing basketball, volleyball. I was never a big beer drinker(much prefered vodka) but I can't believe the cravings I have had for a beer and some popcorn... lol of all things. I haven't cheated at all and am doing much better than I thought I would eating pureed foods, meat more specificly. But I blend them up good and use it kind of like a gravy over my mashed potatos. Some days I am hungry all day and others I am not hungry at all. Very inconsistent. I ahve had no pain AT ALL. Never needed the pain meds even right after the surgery. The worst of it for me was the gas. It wasn't horrible, but I felt like my stomach was going to pop like a pimple. All in all -- I am so glad I did this. I know the weight loss will slow down, but I am enjoying it while i can.

    Week of Decemb er17th

Hey fellow banders -- Today(1/2) I had my post-op visit. I can move onto full excersise, but no lifting weights! I have been feeling great walking 2-3 miles a day since my surgery on 12/21. I get my first fill, if needed, on 1/30. I am finding some days I am starving and others I could careless about eating. I am sure that this is normal, but it is inconsistent. As of today I have lost 32#'s in a lttle les than 2 weeks. I feel great, people are noticing the weight loss. My attitude is great, my energy is great. I have not cheated at all and am exremely focused. I am determined to make myself a healthier person. These tickers are a pain in the ass. Everytime I go to update mine it does not recognize my pin. Does anyone else have this problem?

    Mushie Stage

Here is another thought for blended foods. I bought premade turkey in gravey in the meat department near. It was right next to the premade mash potato's. I grabbed a container of each. Begrudgenly, I came home and blended the turkey breast and gravy. I bought a bunch of 6 oz containers. I put a scoop of mashed potatos on the bottom and a scopp of the pureed turket on top. This made about 6 meals. It was AWESOME. Thanksgiving dinner. :-) I also made my meals for the week. I have everything measured out and ready. I find that I am not hungry and have been keeping myself very busy. If I don't plan my meal times I forget and then have to wait 1/2 cause I just had water! And by this time I am hungry. Now everything is at my fingertips. I think I am going to do this every week!!!! But try the pre-made turkey its good. I may try the pot roast next. I cant believe I am liking pureed meat!

    Banding on 12/21

Happy Holidays all Illini Banders! I am getting banded tomorrow @ 10am. Wish me luck. I live in the Western Subs of Chicago! :clap2:
  8. I just wanted to drop a note of thanks. I had been working on getting approved for my band for over a year. I virtually gave up. I was given the green light right around Thanksgiving and was banded last week(12/21). I did not know this site existed until a week or so before my surgery. I have scan this site from top to bottom. What a great too we have with lapbandtalk.com. But to all the Dec 07 banders..... I have read through your experiences and prepared mysef through them. I know we are all different and our bodies respond differently, but you ahve all helped me more than you know. Just by posting threads for me to read through. Thanks again and I can'twaint to Dec 08 when we can all really claim our title of Merry Lousers!
  9. Don't look at it as a set back. Turn Lemon's into Lemonade. Bring the basket to a church, bring it to work -- pay it forward.

    December Surgery Dates

I ahd my surgery last week(12/21). All the emotions you are going through are totally normal. Relax and remember your HEALTH will benefit from dropping the weight. I wanted to back out hours before surgery. In less then a week I have lost weight. I ws up and walking within 2 hours of surgry and never looked back. Minor discomfort, everyone is different. I never needed pain meds. Others do. Listen to your body. I had to stay in the hospital overnight becuase of sleep apnea. As far as teh diet is concerned, I didn't have a pre-op diet. I only had to be on clear liquids for 24 hours prior to surgery.Make sure you stick to it today. I have not had nausia. I wasn' interested in food at all until yesteray. But I forced myself to get some protien in a couple times a day. Good luck tomorrow and let us know how it goes.

I know not to expect these kind of results, but I am so happy with such a great start. This really motivates me to stay focused.

    Just Plain Scared!

Hey Jazzy, I was not nervous at all. UNTIL the night beofre my surgery. By the morning of my surgery and will I was getting admitted. I was VERY nervous. I had second thoughts. Then the brought in the presurgery relaxation drug. It calmed me down alot. This was last Friday 12/21. Today is Xmas and I feel GREAT. I have had no interest in food, but things are starting to smell good today! Stay strong -- Stay focused. You can do it.
  16. Goodmorning Merry Banders, Just want to drop a note of encouragement to everyone that you can make it through the next two days. Try to fill yourself with whats happening AND the new you that you will be next Christmas. We can all do this together. Stay focused and strong. Stay true to the course we set, it is our Christmas Gift to ourselves. I hope you all have a great holiday!
  17. I woke up yesterday 12/21. I was pretty nervous and my wife and I headed out to the hospital at 8:30 am, my surgery time was at 11 am. I was called into presurgery around 10 am and was VERY VERY nervous. I was not nervous at all until the night before. They slipped me a pre-surgery drug to relax me and off to the operating room I went. I was in recovery and awake by 12:30. I wok up fat and was able to move pretty easily. I was up and walking around the hospital by 1:30. I have hoestly felt pretty good. I have not needed any pain medication. I feel like I have done 500 sit up. I am a bit sore when I cough too, but nothing unmanagable. I got home from the hospital about 3 pm today. Went to blockbuster on the way home and am having a movie night on the recliner. I am not hungry. I am able to get 2-3 oz down per meal. I did chew my Vitamins today and felt a but uncomfortable for a couple minutes, but nothing major. I am having a hard time staying on top of the Water. I cannot believe that I finally did it. I did not have to be on a two week liquid diet prior to surgery, only 24 hours beofre. As of today I already lost 11 pounds, most I am positive i water. But it is a start. Enough for now, off to watch a movie.

Hi Fellow-Banders, I was banded yesterday 12/21. Things could have gone nay better. I was extermely nervous right beofre surgery. I actually had a brief moment of second guessing my decision. But I quickly chalked it up to up to nerves and reminded myself the reasons why I was doing this. I felt great yesterday most of the day. I feel great today. I have not needed any pain killers as of yet! I feel a little bloated and as though I just did 500 sit ups. I have only been able to down about two ounces at this point. I am not hungry at all.
  19. Well, it is 5:30 am and I could not sleep anymore. My surgery was pushed back an hour to 11. Not a big deal. I have been saying all along that I was not nervous. Well last night:notagree, the nerves kicked in. I have been second guessing the decision all night. I have been nervous about the pain. Feeling like I am breaking up with my best friend -- food. I would assume this is kinda normal.:omg: Well now I am refocused and ready to make the changes to live a healthy life. I just keep rminding my self that at my current weight I have sleep apnea, close to being on blood pressure pills, borderline diabetic, always tired. These are the reasons I need to chage my lifestyle. I want to see my 5 beautiful daughters grow up! I am still nervous, but very determined. A couple weeks of pain is worth a second start. I do have a horrible headache from not eating:hungry:, so I am sure this is palying into my mind games that have been going on. Wish me luck! I wil send a message on Saturday when i get home.:clap2:

    Port Question!!

Well I just got home for my pre-op appt with my Dr. All is set for tomorrow, surgery is still at 10am. I am not sure where I missed it, but I did not realize that you get a port. Where do they put it? Can you feel it? Can you see it once you lose a lot of weight? Anyone know?
