"This was the best thing I ever did"
cbruce125 replied to shotgun72000's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
10 months out and feel amazing. Went from 264 pounds to 178. I feel like a normal person. I haven't had any complications. I eat whatever I want, just not as much. Best decision I ever made. Not a single regret -
This past month has been challenging. I'm hungry most of the time now and can eat so much more. It really worries me. I'm still trying to stay at around 1200 calories a day, but it's really hard and I usually end up at about 1300. Pre surgery that would have been low enough to lose weight, but not anymore. I'm up 3 pounds in 2 weeks. I am about 20 pounds from goal. I'm feeling like it might not happen. Advice?

I am 8 months post op and can also eat anything. I haven had any issues. I am also finding that I can eat more and am feeling hungry more often. Trying to stay around 1200 calories, but it's challenging now.

Is there a specific clothing store that you were gunning for once you reached your target/goal weight?

I wanted to join Stitch Fix which ends at size 14. Which I did last month! -
I almost chickened out right before surgery, too. Now, here I am 7 months post op and down 80 pounds. So glad I didn't. I have zero regrets. And you will too!

How long are you planning to take off from work?
cbruce125 replied to reachbree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took just one week. Unless you have some kind of issue, you don't really need more than a week or 2. -
For me, it was more of a psychological decision. I didn't want any re-routing of my body parts. Just give me a smaller stomach . That made the most sense. I am 6 months out and am getting enough Vitamins and nutrients from food, so all I take is one chewable multi a day. My blood work is terrific. I started at 265 and am at 192. So almost 75 pounds down, and I feel completely normal, eating about 1200 calories a day. Best of luck with your decision. For me, it was an was easy one.

How many clear liquids can you consume without discomfort?
cbruce125 replied to provenzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On day 2 I could only manage 9 ozs for the day, and day 3 was 12. You are doing great! -
Finish out this phase knowing that soon enough, you will be able to enjoy some of the other foods you love. Just not as much! I am 5 months out and can pretty much tolerate everything in small quantities, and you will discover that will be enough!

I am 5 months pre - Op and have been sitting at 201 to 203 for 3 weeks now! I just want to hit 199! Did anyone else stall as they got close to 199? I am doing what I know to do. Fluids are good, Protein is good. I cycle my calories anywhere from 1200 to 1500. Gah! Why couldn't I have stalled at 198? Lol Am I going to start losing again or will I be stuck for a while?

I have gotten ridden of so many clothes already. Be positive that you will never be that size again! Purge!

Ha ha!

Seriously, shut up

I suffered with constipation for about 6 weeks pre-op, but once I started eating regular foods, I have no issues (I am 5 months out now). My entire "system" is so much better now. I dealt with IBS for years, always running to the bathroom. Now I go each morning and that's pretty much it!

Yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, avocado, cheese sticks, refried Beans , mashed up meatballs with some sauce and ricotta. I pretty much only drink Water. Sometimes I splash some Light cranberry juice in it. Or float some lemons, limes or cucumber for flavor.

Feedback for how you feel day 1-2 immediately after sleeve surgery
cbruce125 replied to nysweetest1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had knee replacement surgery a year before my sleeve and THAT was painful. This surgery was a breeze. Not much pain at all. Just a couple of days of nausea. Never took any pain meds once I left the hospital. I went back to work in a week. -
Do you PB or SLIME with sleeve like the lapband?
cbruce125 replied to IrishGermanRN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm only 4 months out and haven't experienced any sliming, foaming, or vomiting. I don't eat particularly slowly, either A few times in the middle of the night, I have regurgitated, which is an unpleasant way to wake up . But otherwise, I haven't had any problems. I haven't come across anything I can't eat yet, either. -
Yes. Reminds me of this article I just read http://nyti.ms/1WCZ4kT As someone with the keen observational skills of Mr. Magoo, it took me a long time to notice a problem social-media acquaintances had been talking about for months. “I woke up to four new people today asking me for money on four different donation platforms,” one friend said. “One was my ex-babysitter announcing her wedding and where I could send cash. No invitation to the wedding. Just cash.” “I’m a believer in giving to real charities: medical research, school drives, the Red Cross, et cetera,” said Heidi Knodle, owner of a picture framing store in San Francisco. “I’m tired of people asking for a vacation, funds for a wedding or their college tuition.” The crime writer Mark Ebner, whose mailboxes have been increasingly filled with monetary requests, has a theory about it all. “I think online begging has become the new economy.” I thought my friends were exaggerating. After all, a visit to GoFundMe or YouCaringyields site after site of worthy donation recipients. People whose homes were wiped out by natural disasters. People with diseases I’d never heard of, with no insurance and staggering medical expenses. Kids trying to pay for their parents’ funerals. Parents with seriously ill children wanting a trip to Disney World, and sick animals owned by people who couldn’t afford the vet bills. One man had set up a fund for a friend who needed to take a couple of months off while his wife died of brain cancer. But then, there were others. Many, many others. Education funds are great, but do I really want to pay for a friend to travel to Peru to become a shaman? Should the woman who has lost a lot of weight (good for you!) ask her friends to pay for $2,500 worth of laser skin tightening? What about the girl seeking $600 for her “personal development journey”? (Not much to ask, but she was so beautiful, I didn’t understand why she didn’t develop herself into a model and make a whole lot more than that.) ......Here’s the question I can’t stop asking myself: Has social media made our craving for attention and validation overwhelm all other considerations? There is nothing new about asking your friends for help (remember rent parties?), but that help was confined to a small group of people you actually knew. Now, no such boundaries exist. Your 4,000 Facebook friends should know if you can’t pay your rent — or your plastic surgery bill. And who knows? They may just pay up. There was a time when there were needs, and there were wants, and we knew the difference. Now? Now I’m not so sure." People need to stop begging friends and family for money unless it is a life and death emergency.

What have I done to myself?
cbruce125 replied to JellyBellyNoMore's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 3 months post-op. Stalled at 3 weeks, but that has been the only one. Just ride it out. You will get through it! -
Congratulations!

She's asking here. Isn't that the point of this forum? The point of this forum is sharing experiences. We aren't doctors or nutritionist. I was advising her to go to professionals and get facts.Yes. Everyone should go to doctor. Who doesn't know that? *rolleyes* In the meantime, people are looking for support and have questions. Thankfully others have jumped in to give her actual help and advice.

Interesting! I have eggs several times a week without any issues. Had my gall bladder removed 15 years ago.
