I was put on one of those liver shrinking diets I had to have yogurt only for three days. Don't be nervous lap band surgery is the easiest out of all the major surgeries no cutting of your insides.

Eating after exercise
AussieSam replied to AussieSam's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks all for clearing that up for me I was starting to worry that there might be something wrong with my band. -
To try and minimise loose skin as much as possible you need to make sure your majority of weight loss is fat and not muscle. Two ways to ensure this eat enough calories each day and eat lots of protein.

I only drink the diet coke at fast food places as they are real flat and can't taste the acid in them.

AussieSam replied to Fookoff's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Me and the scale are not on good terms we never really get along so we bump inito each other one a month. -

How do you manage family gatherings?
AussieSam replied to brittanyp_vsg's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I admit family gatherings are hard as everyone keeps an eye on you in order to make sure you ate well. What I do nowadays with lots of experience is eat very very slowly, chat with others while eating with long passes and people won't realise how little you ate. -
When people compliment you about your weight loss ? I say I had a haircut.

working out and not losing weight
AussieSam replied to trulyamazingtoo's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Wow how do you live on 400 to 500 calories that's a recipie for disaster. It's like holding your breath under water eventually you are going to get off track I try and get in a minimum of 1500 calories a day and don't feel guilty. -
As with revision surgeries they are not as effective as the original surgery where they don't give you the same bang for the buck. I wish you well and hope it works out for you.

Exercise makes a difference, I lost 50 in 5 months!
AussieSam replied to ashemademe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Exercise is free can be fun and releases stress oh and helps you lose weight too. -
I work from home so I set up a small home gym in my garage. It's great on days where you can't go to the gym and if your motivated you can exercise anywhere.
-
It looks like you just need to get back in the zone. Exercise as much as you can and your heart rate will increase and your body will start using the fat stores. Thus you will see the weight drop off again. Good luck

These cravings are common later on in your journey you will lose these cravings. What I did was for every snack I succumbed to I had to go up 100 stairs. That turned me off all snacks.

Ha ha this is hilarious.

Sounds like you might need a fill. If your doctor refuses go to another doctor.

per-op diet is killing me!
AussieSam replied to 45678's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went on a low carb diet one and my trainer back then noticed I was lethargic in my training and he said to me go on a low carb diet but don't be on a no carb diet. We still need some carbs in our diets in order to function properly it's like running a car with petrol only and no oil. -
I'm the opposite I'm finding less restriction now and it might be time for a fill I havnt had one in two years.
-
Maybe look at interval training as well as increase protein and lower carbs you will see the weight fly off.

STALL, STALL, STALL, STALL, STALL, STALL
AussieSam replied to TeacherMommy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Doctor advised me to change up my exercise routine to trick the body he also advised me not to stick to the same amount of calories each day. So to overcome a stall I fluctuated calories between a 500 amount on 5 days and changed exercise routines for example one day I trained morning the next afternoon and so on and it worked. -
I love the elliptical trainer and try to do 2 hours a day on average. I do it about 5 to 6 days a week. Some days I just walk up and down the stairs in my house for half an hour that is a real workout.

The reflux is probably because you got such a small stomach now. This usually is very common with band and sleeve patients when they get down to such a low weight.

In need of encouragement & support :-( depressed while waiting for wls
AussieSam replied to Butterfly512's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You can probably try and increase exercise as that can reduce depression. They say when you exercise lots of gasses are reduced from the body releasing stress in turn reducing depression. I know the wait is hard but in the meantime while waiting for surgery try this out drink three glasses of water before each meal and you will see how quickly you will be full that's like weight loss surgery is like. -
May 13th - And I haven't told anybody.....
AussieSam replied to kcmu5411's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was like that didn't tell anybody except a few for five years but at the end I realised it's much better to tell people because to me it's like a scale when you know people know about it it keeps you from ever putting the wait back on as you know they will judge you heavily. Weight not wait lol
