    Sad about missing food

I, too, am in this boat. Sleeved on Monday June 8 and although I'm home and healing nicely, I'd love to have the usual Friday night pizza with extra cheeses and extra sauce! I know I'm a food addict but that doesn't make the desire, the cravings any easier. I think about food way too much and I'm still on full liquids. Dinner tonight involved soup for me and there was an appearance made by some mashed potatoes for everyone else. That couldn't hurt if I put butter and thinned some out with the broth and took just a couple spoonfuls. It took three minutes to realize that wasn't happening. I think I felt my first "stuck". For now, I'll get through the full liquids minus mashed potatoes and look forward to the next phase which will let me tweek some better flavor profiles. These first weeks and months are going to be rough for all of us addicts but we have no choice! We CAN do this ????

Did they really take half my tummy?

Great information here! I'm five days out and wondering how I can drink all this water and protein shakes and jello and soup and it all fits. I've a ways to go before puréed solids so I guess my fear is a little hasty! ????
  3. Just has sleeve surgery mon 6-8 and I know exactly how you feel! First three days are rough then food's place in your routine starts to subside as does hunger. Eat puddings, Soups you love and enjoy. By the time I got to day 14 I was scared with knowing there's no turning back. At that point it was just get it over with! Try to remember you're not giving food up forever! I've set a July 1 date to allow myself a treat and knowing that helps. Keep busy and do things now to get ready. You WILL be tired, sore and it's true that getting enough Water is a challenge. The two weeks will be gone before you know it...a necessity on your way to a forever change! ????

June 8th sleeve...things no one told me

Sleeved on June 8 as well...gas pain was awful but once they removed that drain at the main incision site, it went away. Home ad still have a headache and stomach distress but being home helps! Good luck and hang in there
  5. Purdy1408 I was sleeved on Monday as well and I was sent home last night! Pain was awful first day but I forced waking and got out of there as quickly as I could! Tuesday was soooo hard...only Water to drink and your stomach hurts and craves some sustenance! This is normal and it will get better! Know we are all sending prayers for you to get home so you can rest on your terms!

Monday June 8th is the day!

I was sleeved yesterday as well...no problems until day two morning dry heaves, shoulder pain and TIRED. Today is Water only and tomorrow Clear liquids I hope. Walked, passed GI swallow test and counting down the hours to go home. Good luck to you and keep us posted!
  7. By this time tomorrow, I will be a sleeved woman. Scared, excited and still can't believe it. You think and plan and prepare and learn and then it's only a sunrise away. Changing your life for your health, your love, your contentment are the best reasons ever. For those who are still deciding, waiting for approvals, and planning for the future...it is worth it. You--we all--are worth it. Say prayers for me tomorrow as I finally will have a tool to help rid me of a lifetime of ridicule, low confidence, hiding my weight behind all sorts of metaphoric shadows, the prescriptions for Type II diabetes, it all can come to end. It's never too late...say a prayer for me and my surgery team...and for the world's most supportive husband who might be a little scared as well. I will update on the other side ????????????????????✨❤️ LET'S DO THIS ????

Monday June 8th is the day!

Count me in for sleeve surgery June 8!!! Excited, scared and READY. Protein shakes...premier chocolate is really good (found at Sam's Club) thick and creamy, 30 g of protein. I like the Atkins shakes as well. Good luck June sleeves onward and downward we go! ????

    2 week liquid pre-op diet

Two week preop is difficult...everyone says it gets better and it does. After about four days, that icky taste in your mouth that the old you knew how to get rid of with food goes away and the hunger lessons. Now it's a good couple hours in the morning before I'm thinking of "breakfast" and a small cup of warm boullion at nite before bed really helps as well. Today is day 13 for me; tomorrow starts clear liquids only before sleeve surgery on Monday morning. It has been the biggest challenge of my life but I am convinced it is the only way to get my life back and free myself of everything being about food rather than contentment! TAKE ONE DAY AT A TIME you...we....can do this! ????

  15. I'm with you on June 8...ready for this next step! Good luck ????

This is the beginning of a new me....

Liquid prediet...keep busy, do something, anything to keep your mind from thinking about it. I'm eleven days into mine and it's hard, tedious and still challenging. The first three days are awful but the hunger, cravings will subside. Try different flavored waters (Mio) for a little variety in between and I've found Popsicles are a true friend...they freeze your taste buds too! You can do this...it's hard but after surgery, your patterns will change and meals will become manageable again! ???? my sleeve date is Monday June 8 and I still can't believe it-good luck
  17. Started liquids today...day 1 in the books but I'm scared...how do you keep focused during this stage? I'm 56 and ready to move forward.

    June Sleevers!

I haven't told anyone about my decision except my very supportive husband. I decided in Dec. To move forward with this and I didn't want to have to explain-justify my decision to my brother, mom, best friends, coworkers or family. Lots of servers never tell anyone! This is for me, not them and I'm sticking by that a week away from sleeve date! Everyone is different...only your heart can answer this for you! ????

    Surgery Tomorrow June 1

    Getting sleeved tomorrow!

Sometimes it is best to dive in head first...good luck and keep us updated on your progress!
  22. I'm only four days in to two weeks of full liquids prior to June 8 sleeve date and met with surgeon Thursday for prevealuation, approvals, anesthesiologist etc., and I already lost five pounds! Everything's a go and for those of you who are struggling with 'time' waiting, uncertainty, self doubt...hang in there. I've been second guessing myself for months and now it's ten days away. Sure it's hard giving up food emotionally but to gain my health, comfort, confidence and energy will be worth it! I'm so used to not losing weight in the past (or gaining) I was elated to see a few pounds gone in a couple days. Commit, dedicate and be confident. It IS possible ????

    June Sleevers!

I am grateful for end of the school year exams, graduation and closing up the room as it has helped keep food off my mind! Liquid preop diet is tough since end of the year brings all kinds of treats to the office and break room...but I've been Gould for three days! June 8th is right around the corner! Gould means good...from an English teacher LOL
