This is my harelip dog, Merlin

I've seen some of your posts; you've dropped your weight without the benefit of the band ... right? With or without, you are an inspiration! I get banded on June 5th. I'm highly motivated to eat right and am bent on getting the right fluids. BUT, I can't exercise right away because of a pinched nerve in my lumbar spine causing pain down my entire right leg. I am under treatment and improving, but can barely walk two blocks without severely limping. Having said all of that, I'd love to get fit with you this summer. :clap2:

Happy BirthdayTricia! Are you in NC? Come join us for lunch

For those of you who chose the band with a BMI <40
Mrs Sabre replied to brittu's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My insurance covers 35-40 BMI with diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease. I have none of these, but do have 7 other conditions/risk factors that would be improved or cured by weight loss. I was initially denied and wrote one appeals letter. Two weeks later the denial was overturned and my surgery approved. I'll be banded June 5th. I'm not saying every insurance company works this way, but it may be worth a shot before trying Mexico? Also, I've heard a number of folks having great experiences with various MX doctors, but some have had difficulty finding fill doctors in the US. You may want to research this too before deciding? -
OBTW, Jennifer and Stacy might come too. I imagine Jennifer will speak for herself, but Stacy doesn't come to the board very often. I chat with her via e-mail just about daily, and am encouraging her to come. She spoke like she probably will, but a lot can happen over a week.

Me too! Me too! Me too! That's my Last Supper weekend, and I wouldn't miss it for anything! :clap2:

I'm not there yet, but from everything I've read, it sounds like pain from the air they pump into your abdominal cavity during surgery. I've also read that moving as much as you can helps it go away faster, as does sleeping in a more upright position. I'm sure those who are actually banded already will chime in for you any time now. I'm glad you're doing well! I'm not far behind you!

'folded my hand without even tryin'; will I kick myself?
Mrs Sabre replied to thinkthin1's topic in Insurance & Financing
My insurance goes with the standard definition of morbid obesity, a BMI of 40 & up or between 35-40 with high blood pressure, diabetes, or heart disease. My initial attempt at approval was denied. My BMI is between 35-40, but I don't have any of the "standard" co-morbidities. I do have 7 other health/risk factors that are caused or made worse by my weight. One appeal letter and two weeks later, and I have been approved for coverage of my lap-band surgery. IMHO, if your insurance covers WLS, it's worth trying and appealing once before going to MX. -
May Get together thoughts

This is just ten days away, and I'm getting excited to see everyone! Is it too soon to do a role call? I'll be there! I'll be there! I'll be there! Did I say I'm excited? :cheer2: -
OK, I think this calls for a list of famous bald hotties, old and new. The first few that come to my mind are: Vin Diesel Sean Connery LL Cool J ... not necessarily in that order! :Banane13:

My surgery is scheduled for Monday, June 5th! It's finally here ... YIPPEE!

Yes, the reality is sinking in, and I'm still ecstatic! I've dug up my packet from the nutrionist to review and prepare a shopping list. Over the next week, I'll dig around here for lists of "must haves" to ensure I haven't missed anything. John and I have both already requested the time off from work. The hard part has been keeping my facade at work. There are very few people who know at all, and I've wanted to jump up and down and shout it from the roof tops. Instead, I quietly go about my day with a BIG grin on my face. I'm sure people are probably wondering what I'm up to! :Banane13:

OK Vicky, where are you? How are you doing? Are living in the land of the banded now?
-
Kim, you'd better believe it! I'm giddy again!
-
I'd call both, but then I'm not the most patient person in the world either.
-
I understand not wanting to jump into anything. I was with my ex for 13 years when we divorced. There was 5 years between marriages. I made up for the dating I didn't do before my 1st husband. Fun is good! It also helps you figure out what you do and do not want in a future relationship.

Amen Angelu! I have UnitedHealth Care thru Wachovia Bank. My average BMI hit in the 35-40 range, and I don't have diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease; so I was initially denied coverage. I do, however, have seven other conditions that would be improved if not cured by weight loss. Fortunately, one appeals letter and the denial was overturned. Now I just need a date.

God Bless you Jennifer! I wish I knew something to help! I'm praying for you! Please keep us posted; I may be following in your foot steps before long myself.

There's a guy at church who fits the bill perfectly, but he's happily married with children. Maybe he as a single brother?
-
I've waited 9 months, what's one more? I could have had a baby in the time it's taking me to get a band .... Not!
-
Cool! I'll keep an eye out for a not too tall, shave-headed, outdoor loving, 30 something +/- hunk

Melissa, I'm always open to new Protein shake ideas. My personal favorite (so far) is chocolate Protein powder with 1 TBSP of natural peanutbutter blended into 1 cup ice Water. Thanks Randy! Yes, I'll get to do liquids, mushies, & PB with everyone else soon

... and what kind of personality traits do you like?

Happy Birthday Kathy! Have a great day!
