Mrs Sabre replied to gordonfamily3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Did Paula and family suffer any damage, or do they know yet? Please let her know we're praying for them! I'd like to meet her, but very well understand if they get to go back home. -

I can't make it this Thursday (10/6) evening, but Monday lunch (10/10) or Tuesday (10/11) dinner are both fine. -
Welcome home Starr and congratulations! You and Dianne seem to be doing great! Melissa, you're next I hope/pray to have a date by time we meet again. I can be patient when I know there's an end in sight. Not knowing if/when that end will come causes anxiety!

I know Starr is scheduled to be banded today, but I don't remember at what time? Whoever hears from her first, please let her know that our prayers are going out to her!

You go girl!

Sleepyjean, I'm in the same boat. My BMI is 38.4; I'm right at 100 pounds over weight. I have weight related issues, but not the typical co-morbidities that "assure" surgery. Since I'm seeking insurance coverage, I'm trying not to lose weight until I'm approved and have a surgery date.

Congratulations!

At the risk of sounding blunt and ugly, I have to agree with Marimaru. Although I haven't been banded yet, I have had other non-invasive, day surgeries. Sure I felt cruddy for a few days immediately thereafter, but the long-term benefits vastly outweighed the short-term pains. I've read all the good and bad about banding, and I still can't wait to be banded! I hope you feel differently once you've recovered. I also agree that you may want to consider a different doctor for your follow up care. God Bless and good luck!

Thanks Dianne! How are you doing? Congratulations Starr! Melissa, in the Charlotte area, you're next

If I had read this full thread, I wouldn't have asked when Starr has her surgery. Dianne, it sounds like you're doing great! I'm interested in all of your newbie experiences and questions, so maybe I can prepare myself when my time comes

Black nylon high waisted granny panties; no holes, but the right seam is coming apart I am, however, wearing a nice new purple lace underwire bra

Happy Birthday!

Welcome Home Diane! It sounds like you're doing great! Keep us posted and let us know if you need anything! What movies are you planning on watching? Starr, I imagine nerves are normal. I'm sure I'll go through the same thing when my time comes. Regardless of nerves, I know it's what I need to do for my long term health. I want to grow old with my husband, and live to see grand kids. I know how much my weight is affecting my health already, and am not willing to let it get any worse before taking this step. Melissa, if you get done at your place, I could keep you busy at mine for a few days ... kidding

I'm fat mostly because of a non-functioning thyroid glad. My average weight was perfect through the age of 30, when I developed Grave's disease (over active thyroid condition). It couldn't be controlled with medication, and I underwent a radioactive iodine treatment that wiped my thyroid function out completely. I gained my initial 30 pounds in less than 3 months after my thyroid "crashed". It's been a steady progression since. Throw genetics, chronic depression, and poor eating habits into the mix, and I'm now 100 pounds overweight.

Starr - we're all pullin' for you! I understand what you mean - I can lose weight; I just can't ever keep it off.
