Happy April! John and I have our 9 year anniversary too; it's this Wednesday I had a great visit with my brother and nephew. We went to Carowinds on Friday, and I managed to waddle around the park and ride for 5 hours! John and I also got a little motorcycle ride in on Saturday. I admit to being a fair weather rider, and it was definitely fair on Saturday!

I can do April 22nd, 10 a.m. Carolina Place, and May 20th. I'll try to be around more to see if any of this changes.

It's March! Can you believe it; the start of month 3 of 12! This year is nearly 1/4 over. I need to start Christmas shopping ... and No, I'm not kidding. If I do a little all year long, it's much more affordable. Sometimes, I'm even done before Thanksgiving That's a plus. I had my abdominal ultrasound yesterday. The tech took a LOT of pictures, especially around the area of my gallbladder. Dr. V already said he'd take it out during Band surgery if it's going to give me problems. Tomorrow it's the exercise eval, EKG, & chest x-rays; and then I'm done until surgery. Now I just need approval and a date! I'm getting anxious. OK, where is everyone? Outside of Jennifer's awesome updates, it's been kind of quiet here for the last few days. I know for me, it's been work. I've been slammed, and expect that to be the case for the next couple of weeks! Speaking of which, I guess I'd best get busy. TTFN

1st Consultation w/Dr. Bauman over...
Mrs Sabre replied to oreilly76's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It may depend somewhat upon what time the surgery is scheduled. You have a barium swallow after surgery. If your surgery is early, you can have the swallow and go home. If your surgery is later, you may have to wait until the next day to have the swallow before you go home. Dr. V said he would do mine day surgery, that I'd be done and heading home around 6 p.m. the same day. -
OK, so I called UHC. They have a reference number on the pre-determination, but no status yet. At least I know they have it! I also got the standard "it could be 30 days" disclaimer.

1st Consultation w/Dr. Bauman over...
Mrs Sabre replied to oreilly76's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm only guessing, but he may have figured you've already done your research or at very least been to an information session and didn't have any additional questions? ... especially in light of your pre-op stuff being nearly done? -
My brother called last night. Condensed version, he may arrive and leave earlier than originally thought. So as of right now, I might be able to make it Saturday morning for breakfast! :hungry:
-
I'm excited, but the waiting is killing me! If I get a date in April, from research to surgery will be 8 long months. Hey, it's a life time committment, better later than never
-
Wow! Jennifer, 30 pounds, I'm jealous! You are doing awesome! I too can't wait to see you again!
-
OK Stacy, since I can't make breakfast next week maybe you'll post your before and after pictures?
-
If the other ladies feel the same way I do; yes Teresa it is an open invitation Maybe I can actually be at one of the meetings you attend?
-
There you are! You didn't waste any time. Welcome! Look at the post for April 1st for the next "meeting". I can't make this one, but I think there are 4 or 5 so far that can. I think we've had up to about 10 people attend at any one time. If you look back through, there's a picture thread of all of us too.

I dropped a line to Steffney at Dr. V's office, and she referred me right to our dear Kim! Kim had the unenviable task of letting me know my paperword hadn't gone out to the insurance yet. Kim talked to Julie, the nurse, and they may be able get it out by Monday! :clap2: John's fever broke yesterday, and he's back at work today. I hope it's not too much, too soon; but one of his co-workers is going on vacation and John is stressing because he's behind at work. Also, please keep and eye out and offer a warm welcome to Stacy if you see her. She and I met through a mutual friend. Stacy was banded in 2001. She talked like she was interested in checking us out. :biggrin1:

Outside of Wednesday nights and Sundays, my week night evenings and Saturdays are usually open to schedule things.
-
Welcome Makah! I don't have a band yet, but have had all the preliminary stuff done and am waiting on submission to insurance. John is still sick! He was too sick early on to be whiny; now he's tired of being sick and getting grouchy. He's starting to have short periods of time when he feels almost normal; then his meds wear off and he starts feeling rotten again. He was up coughing in the middle of the night again last night. My heart breaks for him `cause there's really nothing I can do. Selfishly I pray I don't get it.
-
Kathy already mentioned that I can't be there. I'll miss you all! I'll keep an eye out for the next meeting.
-
Ok, so I don't have anything exciting or even interesting to talk about today. I just wanted to check in and say "Hi!" to everyone! Congrats on the size 14/16 Dianne! OK, how is everyone else doing?
-
Wavy, I saw Dr. Nona Patterson. Dr. Bauman will probably recommend someone when you have your consultation. You're not required to use the providers they recommend, but you can.
-
I'm not going to be able to make our April 1st breakfast My brother is coming to visit from Tennessee, and we have a wedding to attend that afternoon. Funny how things can change so quickly.
-
Good news, it's not pneumonia; his ears are infected. Doc gave him antibiotics, more cough medicine, and told him to go back to bed. Otherwise, not much to report on this end. I patiently await submission to my insurance. :tired
-
Hey everyone! I'm doing OK, but John (DH) has a seriously bad case of the flu. He's going back to the doctor today, and we're afraid it's turned into pneumonia. He's had a fever for over a week now, and is coughing really badly. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the doctor puts him in the hospital. Please say a prayer for him.
-
Ours prayers go with you and your family! Please let us know if there is anything whatsoever we can do to help! God bless you all!

Most doctors require a minimum of a psychological and nutrition evaluations before they submit to your insurance. They may request more if they feel another test may help justify coverage. For example, I have a history of mild sleep apnea, and it had been a number of years (and pounds) since I was last tested. It made sense for me to have a sleep study. They often require additional test pre-op, like an EKG & chest x-ray. These vary somewhat between doctors and hospitals. There are a few here that have been to Dr. Bauman; I'll leave whether or not you should call his office to them to answer. I hope this helps? Anyway Welcome! There's a group of us in the Charlotte area who meet every month or so for a meal. For now, our next meeting is on Saturday, April 1st. 9 a.m. for Breakfast. The exact location is still being determined. (It's usually lunch, and we usually rotate between TGI Friday in the University area or Ruby Tuesday's on Arrowood Dr. off I-77.) Please feel free to join us!

I just got an e-mail from Kim. She is home from her port correction and is doing just fine.
