A little inspiration needed at a difficult time?
Italian Gal replied to moveandgroove's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Maybe you could allow yourself one of your favorite comfort foods per day....it would make you feel good and you could stay on target. Prayers for a speedy recovery. -
Post op day 3 and struggling
Italian Gal replied to A little less 4 now on's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hang in there! I keep telling myself that I did not get to be this size overnight, so I will not be losing the weight overnight either. I would try find some things to do to keep yourself busy. Watching TV is a disaster! There are too many food commercials on. Believe me...after the first few days it won't matter. I am not quite three weeks out and I am feeling great! Once I was able to add the Protein smoothie, I felt like a million bucks! It really fills you up and when you don't have it, you know it! Good luck. Stay positive...this is a lifestyle change, so start making some changes. Plan a trip, take a walk, find a new hobby....watering the plants kept me busy the first few days. I would come in a nap, then get back to it. -
Questions that need answers ;)
Italian Gal replied to hbaz134's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would start with a little stool softener....if that does not work a call to your Doctor may be needed. -
Our doctor told my sister to go back to the basics....clear Soups and Protein shakes. He says it helps you get back on track. Good luck...and don't give up!
-
LMJ....We were sleeved on the same day and I also had to have a hernia repaired. My doctor did not say anything about a fatty liver, I probably also have one. I would follow the advice of your doctor and get it checked out. More than likely they will just keep an eye on you over time. You have lost a lot more weight then I have....great job!

Not getting my fluids in...
Italian Gal replied to TinaMarie1006's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am drinking the smoothie King Gladiator. It has all the Protein we need and it goes down easily. I did not start protein until week two. Are you allowed to have it this soon? -
I am so sorry you were treated so poorly....I would chalk this up to ignorance and immaturity and I would not waste another second thinking about this callous woman. I would however take the time to make a few phone calls to the powers that be at that hospital. Maybe she needs to be reported so she does not continue to do this to others.

Where are you on your weight loss journey?
Italian Gal replied to Lynkaosgood's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ashley....don't worry about what your MIL says. Believe me, I had the most controlling MIL in the entire universe. If listened to her about half of the things she was opposed to I would not be married or have my precious daughter. Stand up for yourself....You have do what is best for you! I have been very blessed. I am not quite three weeks post op and I have had no real issues...no vomiting, nausea or reflux. Three days after surgery I was up and dressed and driving! -
Same here...little to no pain, nausea or gas. I was up and dressed three days after surgery! Now, I do so enjoy my afternoon nap, but maybe that has to do with age (LOL). I am chasing around a new puppy, not a two precious children. You will not be able to pick them up for a bit, but other than that you should be good to go. Take a good look at the calendar when scheduling your surgery. Maybe you could do it around a weekend with a holiday and grab a few extra days to heal.

Kmagno....the first few days all I wanted was Water. I would suck on a popsicle just for something different. Once I started to get up and about I was ready for the broth. I ordered Chinese food for my family and got won ton Soup (delicious) and then went to sushi lunch with a friend and ordered clear soup...and then Mother's Day at Bravo's and ordered wedding soup and sipped that broth. Yes, I get that they are not "healthy choice" Soups, but they taste great and we have hardly any calories to our diet at this point. I would rather have a little of something wonderful, then a lifetime of nothing that tastes good.

How did it feel?
Italian Gal replied to dismond1209's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too woke up happy to have the surgery behind me! So far, so good....no, so great! -
Either you owe the scale or the scale owes you! Try not to freak out. I think our bodies are just worried we are starving and they shut down a bit to try to store the weight. LOL....I have lots of stored weight that needs to go!

16 weeks out....weight loss is slow but steady. Hydration is no joke.
Italian Gal replied to jjmcrash218's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Why are you limiting yourself to the same foods? l am only 15 days post surgery and I decided I was going to try to be true to myself and our lifestyle. I have had clear soup at sushi lunches with my friends, tortilla Soup broth on Cinco de Mayo with my hubby and French onion soup at dinner with our family. Yes, they were not fat free Soups, but the little I actually ate is so low in calories that I can't worry about it. Enjoy your vacation....go talk to the chef. I'll bet they can whip you up some delicious things you never dreamed you can eat without guilt! -

Increase in appetite
Italian Gal replied to cindy4157's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cindy...I am new too. I just got my sleeve 10 days ago, but that sounds like a lot of calories in one day. I met with my nutritionist yesterday and she told me when the "honeymoon" period ends, go back to liquids for a short time. It will help to get you restarted again. Hope that helps! -

One week post op and I have pain
Italian Gal replied to sjuarez's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yep....that's gas! Try not to sit or lay down after eating. Also, the best don't drink anything 30 minutes before eating. I am 10 days out today and I prefer to drink from a straw. I really think I take in less air with my liquids. I switched to a teaspoon to make my Soup go down slower. Hope this helps! -
Two Day after Surgery, am I drinking to much?
Italian Gal replied to Carlos244's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was told I could not have protein until day 10....did you get a packet from your nutritionist???? -
Incision tape removal

I will be one week post op on Tuesday! -
Heather...I am going to start having Campbell's tomorrow. I hate the taste of the packets of chicken broth you mix with Water. I would rather have a little of something that taste good than a lot of something nasty!

Incision tape removal
Italian Gal replied to Big Cat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
meSparkle83.....one of my best friends is a nurse and she fussed at me something bad tonight when I asked her if I could take a bath. She told me that if I new how many bacteria's are floating around in our tub, I would never ask that question. She made me promise NOT to take a bath for another two weeks. She said that even though the wounds look like they are closing, flesh eating bacteria can enter these sites. Well.......that was enough for me! -
It's so hard to ignore all the food commercials!
Italian Gal replied to wannaBthinsoon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My sister had the sleeve six years ago....she loves to cook and told me that she secretly enjoys watching everyone eat what she cooks. I pray that will be me soon. We are Italian cooks...lots of family, food and wine around our dinner tables. -
Incision tape removal
Italian Gal replied to Big Cat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has anyone been missing soaking in their tub????? I know we cant do this until the incision sites heal, but I am so ready to just soak in my bath tub with something that smells good! -
I think we are on a posting for people who had surgery in March. I had my surgery on April 27th. So I will not be one week out until this coming Tuesday. Maybe we need to start a blog for people who are on the same path as we are. I enjoy reading about the weight loss of those who had their surgery in March. It gives me something positive to focus on. Keep up the good work everyone. Remember....either you owe the scale or the scale owes you!
