Favorite response when you don't want to tell?
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to southernbelle256's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
"I know, isn't it fabulous? I bought THE best personal trainer money could buy!" (What I wish I would say) "The weight came off really quickly with a strict diet and exercise." (What I normally say) -
Good luck! Walking really helps with the gas!

Congratulations and welcome to the "losers" club!

I'm new and already had complications
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to Whitney1968's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh dear, I'm so sorry to hear that this is happening to you. Complications have happened before, and unfortunately, you won't be the last one. Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way from Kansas City. -
@@Paige Dukes I've been a big fan of lemon water, or "spa water" for years. The diuretic effect is noticeable to me too..especially with abdominal bloating!

New study about the long-term effectiveness of the sleeve
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to Rogofulm's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This article is about the sleeve, not the lap band. Yes, they are both "restrictive" in a sense, but very different procedures. It is important to realize that the sleeve is not a cure for obesity. Instead, we all should focus on utilizing it as a tool for weight loss and improved general health. -
Your body is trying to tell you something is wrong. I second that you should rest for now and heal. Hope that you feel better soon!

How long does the nausea really last?
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to kranky813's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No worries, I think your nausea will resolve with time. The first 2-3 weeks post-op were the worst for me. Smells or even the sight of some foods were enough to make me sick. I did stick with dissolvable Zofran, which helped quite a bit. Hope this helps! -
Congratulations on your weight loss thus far. BariatricPal has a lot of good information to utilize as a resource during your journey. Keep up the good work!

Question: has anyone had an entire month of little loss?
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to MarceMonster's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree with the above posts regarding some increase of caloric intake, especially if you're not at goal. However, another helpful tip I've learned during stalls is to decrease your carb intake by 50% for a few days. -
Celebrating my 100th post with...

Doesn't it get annoying?
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to missy5099's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What I find funny is that when I expressed interest in breast augmentation, my significant other, family, and friends were so encouraging and supportive about me improving my self-esteem. When I mentioned my weight loss surgery plans, you'd think I'd get the same encouragement and support, right? NO! I guess people just don't understand weight loss surgery as a whole, hence the negative backlash against us. -
Why some insurers won't cover WLS
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to shriner37's topic in Insurance & Financing
I completely agree with the above post! -
I'm sorry you feel this way. One thing that I'm beginning to realize is that we are all hypersensitive about weight to some degree. Look at all of the effort we have put into the weight loss surgery and the ongoing journey overall. That just simply isn't the norm for other people. So, I don't think your family is trying to upset you on purpose. Your surgiversary, is special without a doubt. The first is something that I hope to cherish on Apr 30th, 2016...but I don't want or need their validation when the time comes. I guess what I'm saying is that don't be upset because your family isn't jumping up and down about this. It doesn't mean they don't love you...it's just not on their radar. I do hope that you will Celebrate your special day if you haven't yet. You've achieved an unremarkable goal that provides inspiration to everyone in the BariatricPal community.

How long before you could go back to work?
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to More than this's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I planned ahead and took off for about 6 weeks. Not sure I could've did it any sooner, but I know not everyone is fortunate enough to be away from work that long. I encourage you to plan for the extreme physical fatigue and the mental cloudiness. Depression is also something to consider post-op as well! -

Change in attitude toward you after surgery, am I the only one?
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to Anna Montana84's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That's discouraging, but kudos to you for rising above it. I'm curious as to what you all are fighting about? Sometimes we can all be a little hypersensitive about weight, especially if we've gone to the lengths of bariatric surgery! -
Wow! Great job.

Authorization denied ...
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to Butterflyink13's topic in Insurance & Financing
Insurance companies can be so frustrating at times. I commend you all for being so patient...not so sure I could do it! -
How frustrating! I understand the rationale behind why they would want to postpone your surgery, but why would they wait a week before to tell you that your A1c was too high to do it?
-
Welcome Margie! Congratulations on your weight loss thus far.

@@Jean A Enger You are fine. It takes a matter of hours to digest corn flakes, not days. Good luck on your surgery tomorrow!
