Why did you get rejected?
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to Frodo's Mom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In my caseC my insurance simply didn't cover it. -
141 this morning! I'm so happy for a new challenge.
-
Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! I had my sleeve done in Mexico so there wasn't a pre-set weight loss requirement I needed to meet. Good luck on your journey!

Whenever I feel like my weight loss is slowing, I'm more diligent about using the My Fitness Pal app. I like how you can see your overall carbs, protein, fat, and calories for the day.

How many carbs do you shoot for?
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to Thinside's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
@AngelaWilliamsMD My diet is strictly Protein and veggies. Rarely yogurt now. It's not so bad, but I still treat myself to a mini snack size Snicker every now and then -
I work as a physician and took 6 weeks off. I factored in the physical fatigue, mental fatigue, and overall malaise into my decision. Besides, if I had to run to a Code Blue or perform CPR I wouldn't have been in the proper physical shape to.

IVC Filter
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to fordgirlalways's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Interesting. If it were me I'd go along with what your doctor says. There is no reason to place a filter unless your risk of a blood clot is higher than average. -
Need suggestions

I also was a big fan of chili (particularly Wendy's) at that stage. -

I generally like to stay below 20 g. The weight just seems to come off faster that way. -
B12 shots?
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to LoseItKacy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You can go to a physician or a weight loss center and they can administer them for you. -
B12 shots?
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to LoseItKacy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I used to get these injections at a local weight loss clinic along with Phentermine. I admit the injections, which aren't so bad, made me feel more energetic and in a better mood. I'm on the Vitamin patches now but am considering going back to the injection form. -
Don't feel bad. You're human and this is part of the learning process. We all are truly learning how to eat again.

I'm almost 5 months post op now, but just wanted to wish you the best of luck in your weight loss journey!

Since the surgery, my boyfriend of 6 years has become more body conscious. He's always been of average weight, but is more interested in getting in shape.

I have the Mirena IUD and just started spotting this month. Haven't had a period in 10 years from PCOS.

When did people notice your weight loss?
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to newbeginnings1965's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm somewhat petite at 5'3, so within the first 10-15 pounds significant other was commenting on the difference. I KNEW I was looking smaller when I went to visit my parents (maybe 20 lbs lost at that point), and my mother commented, "Good, you're starting to look like my old Angie." -
Good luck, but can you explain a bit more about the test?

Contraception / weight gain
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to mandyboo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Another Mirena user here. My best friend, who is a nurse practitioner, swears it has made her put on weight. I'm not so sure how I feel about it, but if I had the chance I'd be back on Yaz (My gyn took me off because of a blood clot). -

Giving up my daily habit (weighing myself)
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to Beachsprite's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I admire you for your courage, but I for one, hate to see surprises. To me, the scale provides accountability and motivation, even if the number is not what I want to see. -
Just tell them you're on a strict diet for an upcoming event (wedding, 5k, photo shoot )

Post Op and soooooo many questions!
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to shoppedude's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Most of what your saying is very common post-op, even the weight gain. I encourage you to go your doctor visit and get some answers straight from the horse's mouth. Good luck! -
