Bounce Back After Surgery
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to missykrissy79's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
What does your doctor say? It's not unheard of, but some patients have difficulty digesting protein (especially fatty foods) before AND after gallbladder removal. I'd expect that you'd be better in the next few weeks. -
This will be great, add me in!

Is it normal not to go for a #2 for a few days?
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to EnglishDan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, also when you take in so little food, it takes longer for your colon to fill -
GAIN FROM BINGE EATING DAY :-(
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to LousPeachy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
No one can be perfect (and eat perfectly) 100% of the time. Please don't beat yourself up over it. -
Mirena IUD - I think it may have stopped my loss?
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to supbanana's topic in The Gals' Room
I had my IUD (Mirena) placed prior to my sleeve, but I did notice the increased weight gain like so many others. Almost to the point where I contemplated having it taken out. -
Laser hair removal - OUCH!
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to Bluesea71's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Yes, both my bikini line and underarm areas. A tip I learned from a colleague is to get prescription lidocaine/prilocaine topical cream from your physician. Apply to the areas being treated and then wrap or place plastic wrap over it for 2-3 hours until numb. Pop one gram of Tylenol about 45 minutes before the appointment. I found this has really minimized the discomfort. -
Two Weeks Post Op Weight Loss
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to tonjadburks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on the surgery! Without knowing your starting weight, it's a bit harder to know if you are truly losing on average with the rest of us, but it's a good starting point nevertheless. Keep going... -
The drain does not feel so bad while it's getting removed. You'll feel a million times better afterward!

Are you keeping your surgery a secret from family and friends?
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to Slim-Shady's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Only my significant other knows. Everyone else (my parents, best friend) thinks I'm just on a strict diet! -
How long before you wore shape-wear?
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to Slim-Shady's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I actually wore a post-surgical garment (very similar to a girdle) about 48 hours after the surgery was done. It really helped support my stomach and ease the discomfort. -
First pureed meal and your favorites
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to nrg33's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Truly puréed was unsweetened applesauce. However I quickly transitioned myself to sugar free pudding and Wendy's chili! -
I'm just past 5 weeks out and I've noticed that my hair and nails are growing much slower than usual. I started taking the biotin too!
-
Congratulations on the weight loss, that's fantastic. Welcome to the board!

Food day @ work...HELP
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to 2bullymom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Keep strong. -
Oh no! The pancreatitis usually is on the CT scan, but I assume your lab tests showed something. Good luck to you.

How long were you off work?
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to Rochellevsg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I took off for 4 weeks. My job requires a lot of walking and mental readiness. -
It may be as simple as less fat=less insulation.

My 10 VSG Pregnancy facts so far...
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to KeeWee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congratulations! Are you having any issues in terms of nutrition and keeping up the required caloric intake? -
Good luck, I noticed that my discomfort got better day by day!

What's the first food you cheated with after Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to NoBsVs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
McDonald's Vanilla Ice Cream (didn't eat the cone)...believe I had dumping syndrome afterwards. This was 2 weeks post op, and the best negative reinforcement I've ever had! -
Post surgery wardrobe
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to Jill1965's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Great idea! With the weight coming off so quickly I'm definitely in an "in between" stage. Not too excited about buying new clothes but those are good suggestions. -
So for the first time in 20+ years...
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves

Left sided pain
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to 4myromany's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you sleeping on your stomach? That may be aggravating the healing process... -
Third day post op
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to dema24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt miserable my first few days post-op. Stay positive, you'll feel better soon. Stay focused on all the weight coming off! -
Fork With A Timer?
AngelaWilliamsMD replied to jm726's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I remember the concept but the idea never took off because of the problem of registering the bites you actually take. It'd be a wonderful idea for us sleevers!
